Trump reveals five-person foreign policy team
by Ryan Lovelace | Mar 21, 2016, 2:11 PM
Donald Trump named multiple foreign policy advisors for the first time since he began his presidential campaign more than 10 months ago.
In a meeting with the Washington Post's editorial board, Trump named a team of advisers chaired by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. The Republican front-runner for president provided five names.
"Walid Phares, who you probably know. Ph.D., adviser to the House of Representatives. He's a counter-terrorism expert," Trump told the newspaper. "Carter Page, Ph.D. George Papadopoulos. He's an oil and energy consultant. Excellent guy. The honorable Joe Schmitz, [was] inspector general at the Department of Defense. Gen. Keith Kellogg. And I have quite a few more, but that's a group of some of the people that we are dealing with."
Papadopulos formerly served as a foreign policy adviser to Ben Carson during his presidential campaign. Carson's bid was marred by his grasp of foreign policy, which caused one adviser to publicly lament the retired neurosurgeon's inability to learn key issues.

Trump's foreign policy team baffles GOP experts
Republicans can't figure out the mogul's quirky mix of advisers.
By MICHAEL CROWLEY 03/21/2016 07:45 PM EDT Updated 03/22/2016 12:57 PM EDT
Donald Trump’s new lineup of little-known foreign policy advisers isn’t exactly assuaging concerns about the Manhattan real estate mogul’s readiness to be commander in chief.
Republican insiders were scratching their heads Monday at names Trump offered as sources of regular advice on national security. Several of those Trump cited during a visit to The Washington Post’s editorial board are complete unknowns; others have mixed reputations among GOP national security pros. One prominently cites his attendance at a model United Nations conference as a credential on his LinkedIn page; another has compared President Barack Obama’s official national security strategy to a document about slavery written in 1850.
More... (https://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/donald-trump-foreign-policy-advisers-221058)
Two of the five people Trump cited Monday have private-sector backgrounds. One of them, George Papadopoulos, is a 2009 college graduate and an international energy lawyer. Papadopoulos had previously advised Ben Carson's presidential campaign. According to his LinkedIn page, he was a researcher at the conservative Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., before joining the London Center of International Law Practice, which describes itself as dedicated to "peace and development through international law and dispute resolution."
Papadopoulos' LinkedIn page also boasts about his role at the 2012 meeting in Geneva of Model U.N., the student role-playing exercise on international diplomacy. It adds that he has "had experience lobbying foreign policy resolutions on Capitol Hill by means of coherent and concise arguments."
Another private-sector Trump adviser is Carter Page, a former investment banker and global energy consultant who graduated from the Naval Academy, according to his online biography. In discursive online blog postings about foreign policy that invoke the likes of Kanye West, Oprah Winfrey and Rhonda Byrne's self-help bestseller "The Secret," Page has blamed the U.S. for "misguided and provocative actions" toward Russia — notable in light of Trump's friendly words for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Papadopoulos' indictment (https://www.justice.gov/file/1007346/download) says that he exchanged emails with his supervisor in the Trump campaign about Russia's offer to help, but the indictment carefully avoids ever identifying the supervisor by name.

Friday surprise.
President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, a retired army Lt. General, is expected to plead guilty Friday morning to lying to the FBI about his post-election discussions with Russia's ambassador to the United States.
A plea hearing for Flynn, the first Trump administration official charged in the ongoing Russia probe, has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Washington, D.C. federal court, Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office said.

I'm perfectly fine with these indictments going out. What pisses me off... is the blatant politicization of them.
The relationships and links between the people so far brought up on charges, could just as easily be applied to about 183 other Democratic representatives or supporters. It could probably be applied to every single politician and lobbyist in Washington if you looked hard enough. Everyone ignores that fact though.
I've always wanted those in power to be held accountable, but it should be everyone. So get to it special prosecutor. Don't be a pussy political hack that only takes time to find fault or potential abuse by only one group.
Lastly.. every single charge so far has applied to individuals who were trying to profit personally. Makes sense.. that's what our asshole politicians do.. But it still has not proven one thing concerning deliberate "collusion" to affect the election. Everyone likes making that claim, but facts so far don't spell it out. Of course that won't matter to most people who are so blinded and have a hard time critically thinking.
I hate all politicians currently. I just wish that people would get rid of their political ideologies and apply the law equally to everyone that we "allow" to "rule" over us. They're OUR employees... we're not supposed to be theirs.

So let me get this straight..
Trump fires Flynn.. because Flynn lied to VP Pence and others about his dealings with Russia/Turkey.
Flynn now is indicted for lying (which he was already fired for).. makes a plea deal.. and is now saying that Trump officials possibly ordered him to make contact with the Russians.
This all after a year? Meanwhile talk about charging his son with criminal acts has been quietly taken off the table.
I'm not claiming to know one way or another.. and I hate to think a former Soldier would fall victim to greed/lying, but the majority of allegations against Flynn were so he could personally gain financially (not collude to affect an election).. and I know everyone is now on the "Trump did it!!!!!" hype-train.. but doesn't it seem a bit odd the timing/circumstances surrounding it to get him to talk? Just saying.
Again.. remember what this is all about.. or how it started.. the accusation was that Trump knowingly asked and worked with the Russians to affect an election. No indictment or accusation has proven anything to that effect. Everyone indicted so far was doing things that would personally benefit them monetarily..
If Flynn is supposed to be the smoking gun.. it better be more than a "he said - he said" thing..
I hope someone comes forward with some recordings soon and put this thing to rest. Either get some substantial proof and do what the law requires to Trump and whoever else.. then move on to the rest of our politicians and clean the whole damn place out. Our politicians are to fucking corrupt as is.

Senator Blumenthal's letter to VP Pence:
I am deeply troubled by these reports and the possibility that Mr. Flynn was acting as a lobbyist on behalf of foreign nations within the Trump transition and Administration. I write to you because, as chairman of the Trump transition team, you were responsible for overseeing Mr. Flynn. It is imperative that we learn the full extent of Mr. Flynn’s hidden lobbying for special interests or foreign interests while on the transition team and in the White House, as well as any undisclosed work he did for the Russian or Turkish governments, so that we may know his legal liability.
Accordingly, I request that you provide all information and any relevant documents pertaining to the following questions:
• Did Mr. Flynn at any time disclose that he had been offered $15 million to deliver Mr. Gulen to Turkey?

is prepared to testify that Donald Trump directed him to make contact with the Russians, initially as a way to work together to fight ISIS in Syria.
So we have gone from Russians hacked the elections, to Trump colluded with the Russians to rig the elections, to Trump asked Flynn to make contact with the Russians as a way to work together to fight ISIS in Syria?
So now wanting to cooperate with the Russians to fight against terrorists is a bad thing?

You keep mentioning collusion as if that's the only thing Mueller is investigating. Again, this all started because Trump fired Comey, obstructing justice.
Do I think there will be more indictments? Absolutely. Flynn and his son could have been charged with a whole lot more. The fact that he was only charged with lying to the FBI and that he's cooperating with Mueller means there are probably more indictments coming. Kushner, Trump Jr and probably Sessions for starters.
Tgo01

Wasn't that the whole point of this?
Again, this all started because Trump fired Comey, obstructing justice.
That's more leftist narrative bullshit spoon fed to you from Blackmail News.
Here is the actual letter from the actual Deputy Attorney General stating what Mueller's investigation is all about:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/05/17/us/politics/document-Robert-Mueller-Special-Counsel-Russia.html
Notice b(i) there?
any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump
It's all specifically about Russian collusion and Russian interference in general. The idea that he was charged with looking into obstruction of justice is 100% bullshit.
Mueller has the authority to charge for other crimes that arise directly from his investigation into collusion, I'm not saying he doesn't. I'm just saying A) I think he has far exceeded that scope and B) I really have no idea what other bullshit he is going to be pulling out of his ass because he is increasingly looking like a man with an axe to grind.
The fact that he was only charged with lying to the FBI and that he's cooperating with Mueller means there are probably more indictments coming. Kushner, Trump Jr and probably Sessions for starters.
Or the more likely scenario that Mueller is hoping securing a guilty plea from Flynn will encourage others to seek out a plea deal as well.
You really think if Flynn had information to put both Kushner AND Trump Jr in jail (which could possibly lead him to Trump, which would probably make him jizz his pants) that Flynn would agree to possible jail time instead of holding out for immunity? Yeah. No. Looks more like Flynn can't afford to keep his team of lawyers around, Mueller knows Flynn doesn't have much and Mueller is hoping others will flip.

ABC News faces blowback over corrected Flynn report

ABC News faced backlash on Friday after the network corrected a bombshell report saying that as a presidential candidate, Donald Trump pressed Michael Flynn to make contact with the Russians.
The network aired a special report Friday morning shortly after Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the month before Trump took office.
Financial markets shuddered in the wake of the report, with the Dow falling more than 350 points.
But the reporting that aired on television Friday morning was not included in ABC News' written report online, prompting questions about the accuracy of the on-air story.
The network issued a "clarification" on Friday evening, saying that Trump had asked Flynn during the campaign "to find ways to repair relations with Russia and other hot spots."
According to ABC, a Flynn confidant cited by the network clarified that it was after the election that Trump "directed Flynn to contact Russian officials on topics that included working jointly against ISIS."
Still, the error drew scorn across the political spectrum and among journalists, who blasted ABC News for initially only issuing a clarification as opposed to an actual correction about what the confidant had said.
"Astonishing. The story moved markets, set off a media frenzy, suggested worst possible outcome," tweeted Jim VandeHei, the CEO and co-founder of the news site Axios. "This is called a massive correction, or retraction, not clarification."

— Jim VandeHei (@JimVandeHei) December 2, 2017
Former longtime cable news journalist Greta Van Susteren blasted other news outlets for picking up ABC News' original report, and accusing the network of trying to "sugar coat" its error by issuing a clarification instead of a correction.
"What makes it worse is that ABC won’t admit its error and now tries to sugar coat it with now calling their correction just a ‘clarification’ - (and other news organizations of course repeated ABC original story)," the former Fox News and NBC News anchor tweeted.

Trump's former White House press secretary Sean Spicer also hit the network over its clarification, writing on Twitter that ABC News should apologize to its viewers.
"@ABC 'news' owes it viewers an apology. Calling false reporting a 'clarification' is a cop out and just another reason for the decline in trust of the media," he said.

Andrew Kaczynski, a reporter for CNN's "K-File," echoed criticism that ABC News should have issued a correction in the first place, and called out the network for taking so long to address the matter.
"This isn't a clarification, it's a huge correction and one that took hours to do," he tweeted.

ABC News eventually deleted its references to the fix as a "clarification," calling it a "correction" instead.

This was the funniest part of the whole thing. Again.. an indictment with absolutely NOTHING to do with COLLUSION. But because Flynn was being a greedy asshole and trying to make some shady money.. it somehow gets tied to Trump colluded with the Russians.
I have no idea one way or another.. but the shit that Mueller is finding so far has nothing to do with the original purpose the special counsel was put together.

Rush Limbaugh correctly pointed out that the timing is fishy and since this is now across the headlines, look at what is NOT being focused on anymore.
http://www.breitbart.com/video/2017/12/01/limbaugh-timing-flynn-charges-may-not-coincidental-look-news-swept-off-front-pages/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social
In my opinion, this is a petty attempt at Mueller and his team trying to not look like they are completely useless while not finding any collusion. All while they are trying to save their reputation as they waste millions of taxpayer money. They also get a nice bit of publicity and a chance to influence the 2018 elections with more false narrative.
So, anyone know anything about the Vegas shooter's motive? What about any updates to the fishy as hell timeline? How about the mysterious deaths of victims that claimed different stores? What about the FBI covering up the Hillary documents? Are there more accusations against politicians and entertainment that they are hiding? All these things now off the front page because Mueller issued a petty indictment to try and look important. This is how they managed to prosecute Martha Stewart simply because she is rich, fairly conservative and somewhat mean.
If the magician wants you to watch one hand, you likely should be paying attention to the other one.

WASHINGTON, Dec 5 (Reuters) - A lawyer for U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Deutsche Bank has not received any subpoena for financial records relating to the president or his family as part of the special counsel’s Russia probe.
“We have confirmed that the news reports that the Special Counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false,” Sekulow told Reuters in a statement. “No subpoena has been issued or received. We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources.”

This is straight from Blackmail News so even liberals must believe it!
http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/04/politics/peter-strzok-james-comey/index.html
A former top counterintelligence expert at the FBI, now at the center of a political uproar for exchanging private messages that appeared to mock President Donald Trump, changed a key phrase in former FBI Director James Comey's description of how former secretary of state Hillary Clinton handled classified information, according to US officials familiar with the matter.
Electronic records show Peter Strzok, who led the investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server as the No. 2 official in the counterintelligence division, changed Comey's earlier draft language describing Clinton's actions as "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," the sources said.
The drafting process was a team effort, CNN is told, with a handful of people reviewing the language as edits were made, according to another US official familiar with the matter.
So this FBI agent, who has made it no secret that he hates Trump and would lick Hillary's asshole if given the chance, was involved in the Hillary email investigation and helped change the language of Hillary's crimes from "grossly negligent" (an actual legal term that implies a crime has been committed) to just "extremely careless."
Oh yeah, this same FBI agent was assigned to the Russian collusion bullshit (and was the agent who signed off on starting the FBI investigation into the Russian collusion bullshit) and had to be reassigned once his views became public knowledge. Oh yeah, he was also in the room when the FBI "caught" Michael Flynn lying to them.
Nothing to see here! Everything is fine!

So if Hillary wasn't charged with anything what difference does it make that language was changed to be more appropriate?

So if Hillary wasn't charged with anything what difference does it make that language was changed to be more appropriate?
Remember Comey had a long drawn out speech where it sounded like he'e saying Hillary is guilty as sin, but then says something like "No prosecutor will ever take up this case." A lot of people thought this was Comey's way of saying she was guilty but he decided to not recommend charges because he didn't think a prosecutor would take the case.
This word change also goes to show that at one point Comey/whoever helped draft his statement believed Hillary had acted with gross negligence.
It doesn't matter since she wasn't charged, but it shows this agent's bias and how his hand seems to be in every fucking thing related to both presidential candidates. One candidate with mountains of evidence was given a pass, the other candidate with so far ZERO EVIDENCE against him and there is still an ongoing investigation nearing 1 year long now.

If you have evidence that 183 Democrats lied to the FBI, I'm sure as a former director of the FBI Mueller would love to hear it. For the record, he is a registered Republican and was appointed to that position by President George W. Bush.
Actually it's not looking good for Pence either. If Trump gets impeached Pence will be going down as well. We'd be getting President Ryan.On the other hand, what if impeachment proceedings drag on past the midterms and Democrats regain the House? Makes you wonder if the Republicans would be better off introducing impeachment proceedings of their own. My guess is it happens after the President sabotages the tax bill somehow.
Wasn't that the whole point of this? That's more leftist narrative bullshit spoon fed to you from Blackmail News. Here is the actual letter from the actual Deputy Attorney General stating what Mueller's investigation is all about: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/05/17/us/politics/document-Robert-Mueller-Special-Counsel-Russia.html Notice b(i) there? It's all specifically about Russian collusion and Russian interference in general. The idea that he was charged with looking into obstruction of justice is 100% bullshit.Notice b(iii)?

Robert Mueller and his team are focusing on the days after White House officials were told Michael Flynn was vulnerable to Russian blackmail, NBC News' Carol Lee and Julia Ainsley report, citing "two people familiar with Mueller's investigation".
Why it matters: This means Mueller's team could be working to determine if Trump obstructed justice and is likely seeking out what President Trump knew about Flynn's conversations with former Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, and subsequently, when Trump learned Flynn lied about them.

Asked Friday whether he believes the Russian government meddled with the 2016 presidential election, U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis reportedly replied: “Yes, I believe they did.” The comment comes in contradiction of President Trump, who has at times called the reports of Kremlin interference to be a “hoax,” a “made-up story,” or has said he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin when he denies his government did any such thing.
Either Mattis is trying to get fired on purpose or he's a closet liberal in league with Soros and the Clintons!

Isn't it funny how you're describing trust in our intelligence community, and the evidence they have, as an "opinion," as if it were somehow subjective? And isn't it weird that the one politically motivated to deny events we have evidence for is the only one denying it?

“Yes, I believe they did.”
"I believe..." equals facts now? Feel free to explain how that works.
He also didn't say he believes Russia meddled in the election to swing it in Trump's favor. He could be referring to colluding with Hillary for all you know, or just to create chaos in general where both sides point the fingers at each other while Putin watches and laughs and faps.
Would it make your fragile little feelings feel better if I said "belief" instead of "opinion?" Because one thing neither of those represent is facts.
Or are you with time4pk thinking Mattis is trying to get fired and/or is a closet liberal?

Let's give this a whirl:
Spoiler Alert: When someone asks the Secretary of Defense whether or not the "believe" something, they're not asking "do you have faith -- akin to spiritual faith, i.e., despite not having evidence -- (X) occurred," they're asking: "Is it the stance of the Secretary of Defense that (X) did occur?" Or "Is the IC credible when they assert that (X) occurred?" So yes, in that sense, "believe" does "equal facts," in the same way that someone who says "Yes, I believe in evolution or the shape of the earth" isn't speaking to some magical, subjective experience based on belief.
The fact that this has to be explained to you -- that you're either so mind-bogglingly retarded, or simply intellectually dishonest -- is sad but unsurprising.
Or maybe it's possible that different people have different beliefs even when they're on the same team.
I do sincerely hope your feelings feel better now.
Your tantrum aside, there's a reason why Trump's CIA director, the Secretary of Defense, the Attorney General, the WH chief of staff, the FBI director, etc., all agree that Russia interfered in the election: Because it's been established beyond all doubt, and you're sitting here shitting out apologetics for someone who (correctly, in your case) knows his supporters are retarded partisans who can't see up from down.

Except that in this case, they didn't use subpoenas and court orders in most cases. Next, the DNC e-mails showed their opinions and that they did cheat/collude in order to get debate questions and that they did collude to keep Bernie out. The Trump e-mails show they asked for meetings with foreign government officials and others in their position as agents of an incoming administration which is both legal, expected and widely practiced. The difference is that one shows a group intentionally trying to marginalize their own voting block and the American people and the other shows a group trying to take steps to govern.

Is it fair to Trump to have black people on the jury? That would be like having a Mexican judge. The jurors and judge need to come from a group that Trump hasn't offended. No Muslims, Mexicans, women, blacks, Asians, disabled, POWs, or transgendereds.
For some reason, this discussion of the grand jury in D.C. reminds me of that time Certain People made the ridiculous claim that the crowd at Trump's inauguration in D.C. was smaller than the crowd at Obama's inauguration in D.C.

“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”
Bannon went on, Wolffe writes, to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people”. Any information, he said, could then be “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication”.
Bannon added: “You never see it, you never know it, because you don’t need to … But that’s the brain trust that they had.”

And Trump's predictable response..
President Donald Trump denounced his former top strategist, Steve Bannon, on Wednesday, saying that he “lost his mind” after leaving the White House last summer.
“When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind,” Trump said of Bannon in a statement the White House issued. “Now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look.”
