Now I don't want to re-litigate what Clinton did, or didn't, do. But one thing I will point out is that a lot of the horrible things said about Clinton in 2016 came from the Clinton Cash book. The same book that was funded by the Mercers and written by the co-founder of the Government Accountability Institute (the other co-founder was Steve Bannon)- which is also funded by the Mercers.

And, of course, Bannon was a founding member of Cambridge Analytica- also founded and funded by the Mercers. The same Cambridge Analytica that specialized in using (mis)information warfare in politics. And we all remember the tapes of the head of Cambridge Analytica talking about leveraging lies and entrapment as their specialties. The same Cambridge Analytica that was feeding demographic information about American voters to a Russian Professor who was receiving Russian government grants to study the use of social media as a political tool.

And that book just happened to have come out in an election year, focusing on the opponent of the Mercer-backed Donald Trump.

Maybe Clinton is a saint, and maybe she's the devil (and probably somewhere in between), but the people who were providing the worst stories about her weren't exactly saints themselves, and they specialized in misinformation campaigns to sway political outcomes.

If Mueller does release a report that accuses Trump of obstruction (it likely wouldn't accuse directly, it would just lay out a clear case and invite the reader to make inferences), AND Rosenstein makes it public... Then we will see them all turn on each other.

If not, the Manaforts and Cohens will likely try to delay as long as possible in hopes that once some of the smoke clears they will get Pardons or Commutations (is that a word?).

The one caveat here, though, is that Pardoning Cohen is sort of messy right now since his potential impending charges aren't related to Mueller's inquiry. I think lot of this depends on how successfully Trump and his supporters are able to tie the two together in peoples' minds.

Though NY is doing its darndest to try to prevent these particular release valves.

The other part of this story is that Mueller's team didn't object.

That could be because Mueller understood that the future of the investigation may very well have hinged on whether or not those documents were handed over.

It could also be that the obstruction investigation is no longer considered to be active, and if that's true then it significantly increases the possibility that they have determined that Trump has not obstructed justice.

And no- nothing "proven". Most of what's in these memos was already in the public sphere. The role they play is still important, however. They call into question Trump's original explanations (Plural- there were several within the first few hours alone) for why he fired Comey. According to Comey's recounting, Trump was extremely happy with his performance up until he wouldn't get rid of the Flynn investigation. If you were trying to demonstrate corrupt intent in the situation, you would have to demonstrate that the official reasons presented for the firing weren't actually the real reasons. Comey's memos directly contradict the first few explanations (there were several in the first few hours alone) given for the firing. (Before Trump admitted that the Russia investigation was the primary factor)

The Putin/prostitutes story was fascinating though. We know the dossier alleges some tawdry details about some sex workers in Moscow. We also know that, according to Trump's former bodyguard, Trump was actually offered those sex workers. (He also said Trump declined) But now we also know that Putin and Trump were actually talking about how great sex workers in Russia are. Like A LOT of the things going on with Trump and Russia- it's just an odd coincidence that the dossier talks about sex workers in Moscow, and it turns out that actually there WERE sex workers offered to him in Moscow- potentially by Putin himself.

The biggest revelation, though, is flying a bit under the radar in coverage right now.

When was Trump having private conversations with Vladimir Putin where it would have been comfortable enough to start talking about sex workers in Russia? That certainly wouldn't have happened on an official White House line, and it seems VERY unlikely it happened during the semi-secret meeting he had with him last year at G20.

It's the small cadre of people who have no actual interest in discussing politics- who are, instead, guarding what they view as their "territory" from different perspectives. For all their bluster about safe spaces, the reality of the situation is that the politics folder of PC was their safe space for years. They feel encroached upon.

What's sad is being a grown man who wakes up every day with the goal of upsetting some strangers on the internet for daring to express opinions you find objectionable in a game forum (particularly if you haven't played this game in years).
