Yeah I really don't give a single shit who plays what character, or if that character is "supposed" to be a different gender/race/whatever. It used to be minorities would get these otherwise "white" roles and some people would make some noise but largely no one cared. I know I watched those shows/movies and never even gave it a second thought. Nowadays it seems the opposite is happening, people make a big deal when minorities get these roles because they love the idea of the person getting the role being black. Case in point? A few posts in the past dozen or so posts.

And this ties into the other situation we are now seeing where people demand minorities (race, gender, orientation, etc) be given more roles. Honestly why do people have to ruin everything?

Trans people aren't who people market a movie to. The audience would be ridiculously low. They market movies to the largest section of the population they can. If they are going to take the risk on that kind of topic then they are going to try to get a star in there that can fill the most seats. They went for "ultimate realism" so they shot all the different scenes in those countries. It is just poor management, there was nothing about those scenes that needed to be in those countries.

That said I stopped watching after the first season as the story hadn't progressed enough for me and I got bored.

Yeah I wasn't thinking about physical publications. You're absolutely correct that it's an easy thing for them to do when it's real paper.

I assumed those pictures were of digital articles. And- like I said- they can absolutely target different regions with different headlines on social media platforms, but it costs money. It's not something they just automatically get to do for free. For the most part, if you're a publisher on a social media platform you leave geographic targeting to ads intended to drive subscriptions. You don't boost a regular article to target a specific geography because that article may flop.

So they'll post articles (and re-post with different framing), and then boost if one of them happens to start taking off on its own. Then it's seen as potentially a good investment.

What's more likely is they went back early in a thread and start repping posts to cycle rep because they can't rep the person they wanted to rep yet, since we have less active posters now than we did back then.

That's what I do when I'm trying to rep (green or red, doesn't matter) someone and can't rep them again yet, but I only leave neg rep on old posts when I come across a really really stupid post, but chances are I already repped it when it was first posted, so it's pretty rare.
