Prayerbeads:
Rounds of emerald nestle into settings of bronze that resemble taloned claws, and the mounted links are joined by delicate chains. Each barb bites into its stone, holding it securely in place and creating a cruel display that is echoed in the clasp. Half of the toggle is an asp, its body twisted into an open-work knot, and the other half is a single talon of bronze. The tip, stained crimson, fits perfectly within the hollows of the asp's coils, appearing to pierce the creature as it secures the strand.

Cassock:
A high collared tunic of alabaster cotton shows beneath the wide boat neck collar of the chainsil garment. Cut to fit closely to the upper torso, the cassock flares at the hips to fall into an ankle-length skirt. Simple, small bronze buttons secure the garment from the right shoulder to the hem.

Ring (gift from a friend): The silvery metal of the ring distorts any light reflecting off of it, causing the color to shift with the slightest movement. A highly detailed asp forms the crest of the ring, each tiny, detailed scale carefully rendered by a master hand. Two minute emerald chips are set as eyes. Along the band is engraved a line of fine script.

Cloak:Tailored from lengths of fluid dark camine silk, this cloak drapes to almost knee-length and is fastened at the throat with a circular intaglio. Starting at the dagged hem, metallic threads in subtle shades of crimson, copper and bronze are embroidered up and outward on the garment in expansive whirls and coils, almost like an explosive firestorm as the fabric shifts with every movement. As a finishing touch pieces of tiny fire agates edge the deep hood and dangle against the wearer's face when the hood is up.

You see your wristlet. This wristlet has been crafted from a plethora of various metals, their unidentifiable and melted forms twisted together into a rainbow of metallic hues. The sides of the wristlet are comprised of delicate filigree work, the strands of swirls and curls forming intricate patterns. Smooth, gently-engraved marks along the solid underside of the piece form a coherent length of exotic calligraphy.

It is surrounded by a scintillating light.



So she looks a little like a ninja but that wasn't intentional. Wristlet, pelisse and reliquary are all alters (reliquary to hold her scrolls, runestones, and chrisms), and the wristlet is obviously a FWI transporter.

Amazingly I haven't changed her outfit in going on a week. It's not because I don't want to but I've been hunting a ton and in between that doing artisan skills so there's not been much point in changing her outfit since I'd have to change it back.

He is wearing an oval nathala agate elothrai on links of blued imflass, a salt-crusted Nathala Dai battle harness, a many-layered silk ataniki of blacks and ocean blues, a richly embroidered golden silk sash, a salt-stained foraging pouch, some simple dark silk nanjir, and some open-toed woven rush sandals.

About the only thing I really want to change is the sash. I'd like to replace it with a vatanura(dark silk with swirled embroidery.)

For those not in on erithian fashion, the elothrai is traditional headworn jewelry, the ataniki is the elaborately folded robes, the nanjir are similar to breeches (flared at the hips, buttoned below the knees) and the vatanura is the tied sash.

Sandals: Strips of braided kidskin dyed such a dark purple as to appear nearly black criss-cross over one another to form the front of the sandals, leaving the toes open. A small panel of the same leather is affixed to the low, white oak heels with slender strips fashioned to be wrapped around the calves of the wearer. A small white-gold clasp adorns each one, the surface etched with a tiny crescent.

I'm going for a Tinker Gnome look/outfit with not too much crap since i don't wanna be weighed down, or look like an idiot.

Tall Black Hat: The tall black hat is crafted of sturdy material and is inset with a pair of small doors at the front. A small turnkey protrudes from the top, and a small silver button is set within the side of the hat.

Scripted with one or two things, as time passes the script activates as well a few times before the mechanical fan folds back up into the hat.

Pair of Oval-Shaped Spectacles: The oval-shaped spectacles are expertly crafted of a delicate metal frame surrounding two thin glass lenses. A small metal box sits just above the bridge between the lenses, a tiny door on each side. A small turnkey protrudes from the top of the box, and a small silver button is set within its front.

Scripted similar to the hat, with just one script i believe that has two tiny arms come out and wipe the lenses clean for ya.

Dark Woolen Trousers: Love these things, but they cost me 2mil. Have 6 zests, some are pretty funny and go well with a Tinker Gnome.

You wipe your hands on your dark woolen trousers, adding to their layer of dust and grime. And about 5 other scripts.

Spring-Heeled Boots: Scripted Kind, that randomly do a few things when you activate them like flips in the air from the loaded springs.

Ruic Crossbow is 6x and has a crank installed. Some of you may know of it.
Hip-quiver is a plain ole leg worn quiver, pack is..Well a Rogue Guild Pack, and the brig is just plain 4x.

Most items are still un-altered which is something i wanna do over time, but as it stands I pretty much have the base layout for the guy in terms of items I wanted. Though I've still yet to find some other odds and ends mechanical stuff I used to see in the past, so I keep my eyes peeled.

I'll probably get him an armor concealer that covers head to toe and alter that into some sort of smock or apron as well. Who knows, he's starting to look good though, now i just need the alters!

Locket: The locket is made of beautiful dark vaalorn and is etched with intricate designs down the sides. On the front of the locket is a ruby encrusted rose with pearl tipped thorns. Tucked inside is an exquisitely detailed portrait of a blonde elven male kissing the cheek of a raven and red haired elven female. An inscription is engraved beneath the rose in elegant elven script.

A translucent layer of delicate vaalin foil rests over the lapis, richly enhancing its illusion of depth. Hat: This sleek leather hat has been tanned a raven-like hue and brushed to make it soft to ones touch. A wide band of silk, dyed a deep amber, wraps around the crown just above the brim and is clasped by a large oval frost-white jade set in gold. The most noticeable feature about the hat is the wide brim which has been curved and narrowed slightly in the front, fashioned to hang slightly low and help conceal ones eyes. A small silk tag is pinned to the inside of the hat which reads, "The Legend."

Pendant: From two slivers of twilight blue lapis lazuli, the raptor offers a serene gaze worthy of the noblest of its species. Lacquered pieces of carved mistwood are set into a thin vaalin frame molded to resemble the aquiline form of a peregrine falcon. The predatory air of the avian is softened only by the delicate shading that has been applied to its wooden plumage. A slender box chain of whorled faenor is threaded through a small oval at the top of the pendant, providing a means to hang it around the neck.

Longcoat (Tierus' design): The night-dark damascene fabric of this longcoat is lustrous and fine, with a texture like watered silk. The coat is richly appointed, with pale buttons of white gold serving to clasp it in the front. Both stiffened cuffs are banded in jade etched with a single raven device. The same green stone glistens from the coat's collar, fashioned into the crest of the family Ranshai: a raven perched within a crescent moon, its head tilted as it gazes into the distance.

Breastplate (Thandiwe's design): Polished and buffed to a lustrous shine, the ebony eahnor breastplate has narrow straps at the collarbone that are hidden behind olivine faenor ravens - their bodies perched upon the shoulders and their wings dipping downward in both the front and the back. The right hand avian's clawed feet dip down to clutch a crescent-shaped silvery moonstone that adorns the breast there, while the end culminates in knee-length faenor scaled tasset that is held in place by rolaren rivets.

Band (my design): Golden mistwood is carved into a wide band, with the spiraled grain burnished to a lustrous sheen interrupted only by a circle of jade. The jade directly bisects the center, providing a contrast against the pale wood. Darker tendrils of verdant hue wind through the paler green, reminiscent of the delicate tracery of veins in a newly-unfurled sephwir leaf. Etched along the inside of the band are a series of tiny letters in a graceful, looping script.
In the Common language, it reads:
Love me, that's all I ask of you.

Sash (Siolan design): A pair of faenor-bound mistwood scabbards hangs from the ebony silk sash. The finest silk went into the tailoring of this sash -- the ebon hue is flawless, like a starless midnight sky reflected on the waters of a calm sea. The ends are embroidered with crescent moons, which lend subtle decoration and prevent unraveling. Twice wrapped, the wide folds are precise, and the loose ends are tucked beneath the lower tier, leaving a forked tail to one side. Celadon kelyn fashioned in a crescent shape pins the layers in place, making this piece both functional and attractive.

Beginning from just under the arms and wrapping down the torso, the saephua is made from a damask silk with a sparse pale lilac and silver blossom weave. The ends of the fabric tuck inside the garment at the small of the back, while two braided cream cords tie in off-centered bows under the bust and around the midriff to hold the material snug.

Skillfully constructed of alternating larger silver rings and clusters of smaller rings, this circlet drapes delicately. A tiny selanthan bloodjewel is inset into the center of each of the three clusters of rings at the front of the piece. Two fine silver chains sweep back in arcs from the coronet to be held just above the wearer's temple and reconnect again just behind the ear.

I think Ferrul designed the shoes a while back, the pin is for my house, the sigil for the guild

Framed in warm gold, the pale wood of the container stands out in stark contrast. The polished outer-facing panels are carved with fanciful visages of the goddess Oleani's works and deeds. A pink marble latch, wrought in the image of a rose cameo, is set in the front-facing panel to serve as the chest's latch, while sturdily braided ivory suede straps secure the reliquary for easy transport of its contents.

cloak:
A rounded bronze toggle, from which dangles a stylized jade hawk feather, clasps this finely woven chainsil cloak over the right shoulder, allowing it to flow gently to an elegant tapered point near the ground. A single layer of undyed silk lines the inside of the garment and serves to keep it light in weight as well as pragmatically functional. Tight stitching of chocolate-hued silken thread wends about the seams and hems, providing a stark bit of contrast to the nearly nondescript material.

tunic:
Natural, unbleached linen has been crafted into this simple and utilitarian, yet infinitely comfortable garment. Brown cords dangle from several bronze eyelets at the top of the chest and loose-fitting sleeves drape to the middle of the forearm. The hem falls to the knees and the sides are slit up to the hips and reinforced at the top with a cross-stitch of the same brown cording.

trousers:
Crafted from soft, deeply tanned buckskin and tailored to fit the wearer, these robust trousers are suitable for both the finest occasions and outdoor excursions. Pliable sinew cords are laced along the seams in a crossed design, while a row of three bronze toggles secures the trousers on the left hip. The legs are cut in a slight flare at the cuff, fitting comfortably over boots.

Cotehardie is an unaltered Nalea, ring has been shown before. I think this is the first time I've shown Lisera's hair, without any jewelry or wigs. Most times she just puts it up.

Filaments of silver thread a gleaming path through the ties, echoing the filigreed silver setting that binds a single faceted brown topaz to the brow.

Three tiny silver links cling to both sides of each slightly curved piece of antler and intertwine with their neighbors to bind the bones into an unbroken collar. Most of the tines retain their natural furrows and discolorations, but the three-pronged shard that forms the centerpiece gleams from careful polishing. A single faceted topaz winks from the eye of the delicately etched stag that spreads its antlers in profile across the smoothed backdrop.

Young males proudly raise their antlers in challenge, while newborns with brilliant silver eyes peek out from the shelter of pleated linen folds. Two grizzled stags, their jeweled fur more white than brown, stand guard at either end, ready to face each other where the ivory and silver cords that fringe the girdle meet in an elaborate knot.

Within the pack, marbrinus in a deep sanguine shade lines the suede, giving contrast to the paleness and creating luxurious confines, edged in a myriad of pockets and loops fitted for storage.

Case: (Ran into Verrath a few weeks ago and he did this for her. I love it.) Swirled with rich hues of deep grey, the grain of the case flows in smooth, wavy patterns, the dark hues bleeding together into a central spiral. Rising from the oxblood wood grain are gleaming thorns of matte steel, following the spiral designs in a sinuous dance of black upon incarnadine. Is it the "slung over his shoulder" part that is bugging you? Because that is part of the new clothing system. Shoulder-slung items will now show up in your inventory as "slung over his/her shoulder" as well as front-worn items will show....blah blah blah "worn over" a blah blah blah.

Nah, it was "a slender quiver lashed with twin sheaths"... and the merchant made up some crazy rule about you can't have two items in one, or some BS (I asked her to quote it out of the alters). I pointed out how crossed back quivers and sheaths had sold off the shelf numerous times, and variants were altered quite regularly, and how cross back-sheaths are sold every day off the shelf in the rogues guild. Said merchant got all pissy and just handed the item back saying she wasn't going to argue.

I would have tried going with either a sheath, or quiver to have that item made. Its got to have the same word as the noun.

Its like trying to get a bodice made into a shirt. SOME GM's will do it but its generally a no-no since (well...before the new clothing system) pinworn bodices were more prominant than pinworn shirts.

My suggestion? Keep with your idea, just use a different base item of sheath or quiver, and when you get shot down, have a backup of a a totally different item you want altered, and take your twin-sheath idea to another merchant. :D

Anyway, my sylvan was scraped for an elf as my role-play and clothing choices were evolving in that direction. Here is a look-see at what I have now:

He is wearing a white jacquard cravat patterned with pearly arabesques, an ashen jacquard longcoat embroidered with black florets, an ivory white satin vest, some silver rose cufflinks, a moonstone-buttoned charcoal watered silk shirt, a pair of tone-on-tone white and ivory bourde trousers, and some silver-toed dark grey leather boots.

I did the best I could with limited funds. This was under 300k and, unfortunately, without any alterations to share. I'm a bit wary of those trousers and cravat, though. Would it seem their busy-ness competes with the longcoat (of which I refuse to part with)? I've been searching for other items to simplify the look, although I haven't purchased them yet... any opinions/suggestions either way? Here it is:

It would be fun.. HOWEVER, and I know I'm gonna seem like a total cunt for saying it, it would probably turn into every Militia (manned with mostly non-Elven characters) in game converging on the Elven Nations and trying to "solve the puzzle" through brute force and blocking out characters that actually would sensibly be involved.. while some people screamed about how racism is HORRIBLE and just ran around sancting everywhere.. and probably some Nalfein who would behave more on par with how you would expect say, a Vaalorian to during a war than an actual Nalfein.

On the plus side, it would be pretty sweet for SOME action in the EN where Elves could actually earn a freaking jewel for once.

Any attempt to open Ta'Nalfein would have to include a lot of work to balance being true to lores with being fun. Whether that's possible remains to be seen, but I'd be open to suggestions.

Opening Ta'Nalfein would also require some amount of defining the Nalfein themselves, saying that one way of roleplaying a Nalfein in a certain area would be correct while another would not. For example, would a typical Nalfein associate with other races? Some people would say they would not because of the racism inherent in most Elven Houses. Others would say they would, recognizing that other races can be tools to achieve their goals.

Other than a reference to the Nalfein seeing half-elves like tools, there is no mention of how they view other races. Whether the Nalfein would allow other races to enter the city, or how the town NPCs would react to other races could render someone's carefully thought-out roleplay meaningless, even if before then it was completely in line with the documentation.

I adore documentation, and have often referred to myself as a doc addict. The docs, however, typically speak in generalities, allowing the individual player to interpret as they see fit. I love seeing players able to craft their own vision of a race that's in line with documentation, even if it might disagree with someone else's. Opening a city leaves far less 'wiggle room' than documentation while also relegating the city to the mundane, which is something I would like to avoid for Ta'Nalfein.

No offense to Simu but there have been times when they have made something official about a race seemingly just to spite people who have played their entire time in GS with a character of a race a certain way. In the seconds it takes to release a document that character's credibility as an "example" of a race can be utterly destroyed. And it *is* upsetting to see it happen, especially if you've spent hours carving out, researching and developing tools so you can RP what you think is a better character. I am however glad to see them opening things up so that players who have a talent for developing/researching sound documentation can actually (and rightfully, IMO) be included in documentation.

Granted there are times when player groups still give Simu the finger. I remember during the premium festival one year there was some shop that had a bunch of really ugly shit in it and a sign that said they were the latest fashions from Ta'Nalfein. I think most of the Nalfein players laughed and said "Bullshit, my character isn't gonna walk around looking like a clown" and ignored it. The Dhe'nar also come to mind as being a roleplay group that isn't afraid to stand up to Simu when they view something as being bull.

I don't see them being able to open up Ta'Nalfein and not have it turn into something mundane like Ta'Vaalor or Ta'Illistim. Most things they could put in place would be easily circumvented by people who simply aren't interested in RP, won't separate IRL from the game, or else they just RP far outside of what is "normal" for an elf (i.e. an elf who hates racism). Due to the very diplomatic and yet extremely underhanded and slightly sociopathic nature of Nalfein life (one thing that is made clear in documentation) I'd say that as a whole the Nalfein are extremely paranoid. It doesn't make sense to me that they would allow any outsiders into their city without some extreme scrutiny before hand.

Also related. A while ago I was practicing coding and started to make my own Mud. I ended up first coding Issi's mansion and then coded part of how I imagine Ta'Nalfein to be. I may be prejudiced about this issue for that reason-- I happen to really like my "version" of it and I would be pretty annoyed for a Ta'Nalfein to open up that I feel is inferior to my own version. Call it stuck-up or elitist, but I know that truly they won't be able to meet my standards. (And before anyone attacks the legality of me coding a Mud based "in" Elanthia, no one plays it and it's not something I'd open up to people for play. It was merely for practice)

Tailored from midnight blue and ebon marbrinus, the longcoat falls to rest at the ankles with a long split up the back. Smoky glaes cinches run up the front and at the cuffs, fastening the longcoat securely and ensuring a close fit. Dark incarnadine lining peeks out from the short, stiff collar and turned back cuffs, while a small stitched symbol of a cracked skull sits at the back of the neck below the collar in glossy thread.
