longcoat - Designed to fall from the shoulders in broad lines, the longcoat is cut from soft ebon leather to fall to just below the knees with a short split up the back. A series of silver barbs serves to fasten the coat securely down the front. Lined with pearl grey silk, numerous pockets have been sewn into the interior. Silver embroidery is featured along the hems and sleeves in a twisting and knotted design.

Every once in a while I'll get someone who doesn't know Strata well asking if there's some occasion she's all dressed up for. That is not the case. She just always dresses like this when she's not hunting.

Ferroniere hasn't been seen in a while, I think:
Dark as a moonless sky, still the many facets of the brilliant-cut diamond glitter with a starry radiance against a seven-rayed eahnor setting. A delicate, thread-thin chain suspends the black jewel in such a way that it would rest on its wearer's forehead like a third eye.

If there isn't a special event, I usually have my character wear the same outfit for a few days then change. I like to build up a bunch of container pieces that I can use for different outfits. I like to get bigger containers (like mantles, cloaks, jackets) deepened to hold more. I am a big fan of armor concealers and have about five sets of robes which I can also interchange with my characters outfits.

Usually, I pick a theme for my characters coloring, likes and dislikes or colors she might normally wear.

For a long time Hadya wore, black, copper, viridian/other green, bronze, natrual colors.

Silima tends to wear greys, blacks, blues, silvers and pallid accents.

I'll have my character (sometimes) go out of their normal color scheme for events.

I guess there is a lot of thought that goes into it, but I believe that kind of thought gives your character depth.

Ty changes clothes every few weeks. Outside of events, she's usually in blouse and pants or maybe blouse and skirt, and she doesn't wear heels, so her outfits work for both town and hunting. If there's only one container that's part of her outfit, she probably has a second container inside it along with her shield, armor, and other gear. That way I can whip it out when I'm ready to hunt and have something to put treasure in.

Morah only dresses up for events, and she's not thrilled about even that. She feels profoundly uncomfortable unarmed--which is why most of her shirts and dresses are dagger-holding ones.

Additionally, you're generally container free or limited to a single item. How do you guys consistently pull this off? Do you have an attendant, on another account, that basically holds you entire hunt outfit or do you put all your gear in the single container you do show on some of these outfits?

The main thing I am curious about is the amount of effort you go through to be consistent with this switching. I switch outfits for functions but generally overdress by a slight margin to go hunt. I pass this off to a large degree on my ability to sing my armor. My RP has it that my sung armor protects my dressier than average clothing from harm or wear to a good margin thus why I don't grunge down to hunt. Would it be better to be more consistent and switch outfits out after every single hunt?

Traiva hunts so little these days, and usually in short bursts, that I just sling on her armor, backpack, weapon sling (Warrior Guild sheath that holds her runestaff), and, if needed, arm sheath (also Warrior Guild) with her dagger for skinning...go hunt...then yank it all back off and stuff it into her cloak so she's back to whatever outfit she was wearing. Which is why you'll pretty much always see her in some sort of cloak-type garment, even for some special events. (Otherwise, I pass it off to a character on another account.)

One of the items I'm most happy I got worked on at EG was Marni's armor concealer. Yes, the design means that I don't change up her outfits the way I once did, but since she's not the cyber-Barbie Traiva is, I don't mind too much...and I really like not having to take off and put on the MBP.

As for containers.. I'm SLOWLY working on getting Traiva's cloak-worn garments deepened as much as possible, and her velvet pouch is deepened to its max. One of my next projects really should be working to do the same with my other bag/pouch type containers. And I know there are people who specifically look for pocketed clothing items to avoid having to wear a "backpack" as much as possible...and those who just store a lot in lockers.

I'm fairly sure that I'm the only one who changes their character every day, all the time (unless I don't play her). ElvenLady might, not sure. Most people change the outfits every few days/weeks/season.

Strata doesn't even carry her armor with her when she's not hunting, although as a bard she's never really without armor for the random invasion. She has loads of mix-and-match hunting clothes and, when she's in them, she'll just wear the armor constantly with it because it is deliberately part of the outfit. Outside of an emergency invasion, Strata would not dream of hunting in the get up I just posted or any of her other everyday wear.

She also doesn't carry a lot of big items with her all the time. Just a few small ones. Other than a bundle of acantha, she carries no herbs. She has a small drawstring pouch that holds her bankbook, manifest, shop manifest, signet, house ring, Mist Harbor transport item, her Lornon temple entry item, and her giftbox enhancer. The pouch just moves from big cloak-worn container to container. Other than that, she's always got an invisibility amulet, her Call Familiar sachet, a weapon, her general use fan and her pet snake. No other magic items, enhancives, herbs, toys et cetera. Most of the cloak-worn containers she wears for hunting are max lightened/deepened. And she'll have a disk.

All this requires an enormous closet for her. It means two "handmaidens" on another account with containers and lockers full of separately organized clothing and jewelry. Before I sign off as Strata for the night, I take her up to Mist Harbor to get redressed for the next time I play her. It doesn't take me long usually.

I realize that this seems like a ridiculous amount of effort but it is very character defining for me. I don't do this for a single other character. Lysistrata is very much about appearances and would not be caught dead not looking her best. In fact, that is one of the reasons she immediately departs when she dies, so that no one sees her in that position of weakness. I know. This is madness. But no, this is SPARTA. Or STRATA.

I wish I could say I change every day like Strata does but as I tend to play 3 girls on a fairly regular basis, I'd probably end up spending all my time in the lockers. Corlyne might be your gal for that.

Rohese has everyday wear which, as Silima mentioned, relies largely on one deepened container/cloak and armor concealing robes. Enhancives etc. are discretely scripted on and off when no one is looking. I do like to change her for the evening if I know she's going to be simply socialising and for this I also have a "handmaiden account" that gets dumped on regularly.

Merelle will change outfits at least once a week just for the fun of it, she is after all my Nalfein barbie doll and can get away with more diversity in her looks than the prissy priestess.

The dhe'nar tends to stay in the same outfit for a few weeks because I tend to design one that is minimal, practical and more character defining in terms of her current RP. That said, she's due for a change which is currently a work in progress. Watch this space.

P.S I like the new look Evarin except we can't see him scowling at the peons any more! Oh wait, they're AUSTERE ... got it.

I don't change every single day but there are times when I'll add or take away something in the outfit I posted to change it up a bit. Since she's a warrior I can get away with wearing my halfplate all the time and not having to wear gowns, dresses or skirts.

I tried. It came down to not having enough stuff to keep up with it. So the cleric has one general use outfit that's pretty much max lightened and deepened and very utilitarian and then a few things he can step into (and out of) on a case by case basis.

The sorcerer has a much more extensive wardrobe but I'm not too happy with a lot of stuff (I'm working on fixing that) and so I change semi-regularly.

Choker:
The classic ouroboros shape has been skillfully rendered in pale lor, with obvious attention to detail in the realism of the serpent. With a faintly malevolent cast to its diamond-eyed face, the serpent clasps its own tail in its fanged maw to form the perfect ring of the choker.

Shoulder-wrap:
Pale grey serves as a background for the twin black bullseye markings on the fur, with further dark stripes echoing around the bullseyes. The fur is exceeding soft and dense, like plush velvet, contrasting the slick black satin lining of the wrap. Designed to circle around the shoulders, the wrap is fastened close with a pair of hook-like pure silver claws.

Not clothing, but something I wanted to show off. I am really happy with it

a perfect coraesine-shot pike - Flawless and lustrous, the lor haft of the pike has a silvery finish that stretches across its unmarred six foot length. Misty white coraesine tendrils blend throughout the haft with subtle contrasting grace, growing denser at the center and culminating in cloudy white wisps at the edges. Silver-hued steel rises from the apex and forms the foot-long blade, which is sharp and dual-edged. Dark grey tendrils curl outward from the striated metal, while a cap of grey-veined bands decorates the butt. You notice a small enchanter's glyph and Alerr's crafting mark.
There appears to be something written on it.

I only just learned about the ridgeweaver spiders from the chat when I was all "wtf is that?!" Good on you for fitting it in with your RP.

I wanted to actually make my pants from ridgeweaver silk, since the silk itself is VERY lightweight and "breezy" so it sounded fit for some pants heh, but it also fit nicely to use for a collections bag as well so I was happy.

All in all, things finally came together after managing a few alters and getting really lucky with merchants not asking for some supplies for said alters.

Every alter I had made, I didn't use material for except for the sack. I had to hand over a morduska hide to use for it.

I'm also glad I got my Veil from Paul and had it altered like an hour later :)

Cloak (slightly altered from when I bought it): Crafted from thick cuts of leather this cloak is riveted, rather than stitched, with invar studs. Each of the panels meet in a ridge of doubled leather seams, rolled around each other to hide their edges and provide added protection to the wearer. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Mail (an old alter of mine, but I just got it back): Thick leather padding at the joints and shoulders of the simple but finely crafted suit of mail protects the wearer from heavy blows and evenly distributes the weight, while a thin coating of bronze protects the vultite links from corrosion due to the elements. High on the upper left breast, dark green faenor links pick out a circle of briars that surrounds a stylized triangular foxhead. Curiously, the mail seems to resist abrupt changes in shape and its links fall unusually softly against one another. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Quiver (new from the Spitfire): Finely drawn faenor thread binds a cap of hardened leather to a supple cylinder of the same material with a double row of precise, cross-hatched stitches. Straight as an arrow shot, the sturdy stitches climb the side of the quiver and draw it tightly closed. An embossed sephwir leaf on the opposing side is the only other decoration except for a thin band of lustrous mithril that reinforces the lip of the quiver.

Another strap winds around in the opposite direction, loosely draped with a pair of polished coppery chains, supporting smaller drawstring-tied pouches.

The shapely conical corset is crafted over a thick frame of champagne tapestry cotton and braced with narrow copper bones, while the outer layer of translucent gauzy ecru muslin is pressed to give it an a sinuously crinkled appearance. The plunging neckline is supported by wide shoulder-ties of blush pink taffeta, matched by the voluminous overflow of ribbons that cinch the material down the spine.

Fashioned of black vaalin and white vaalin, the ring is comprised of two bands wedded to become one. The larger band has slightly higher walls designed to loosely cradle the smaller band, which is free to spin around the other piece without coming loose. Etched into the black vaalin is a delicate mournbloom, which is drawn petal to stem within the metal, while the white eahnor displays the image of a single peacock feather wreathed in a herringbone chain. Dark, plum-hued feystones create the petals of the flower, just as sapphires and emeralds form the hues of the feather.

Russet threads trace a series of spirals across the butter-soft doeskin, forming a decorative pattern and quilting it securely to a thick twill backing. The only straight lines appear at evenly spaced intervals around the corsage, where the stitching binds internal boning in place. The doeskin itself is undyed, but bands of nubby brown silk trim both top and bottom edges. Matching ribbons thread through the gilded grommets at the corsage's back, allowing it to be laced tightly in place.

She is wearing a labyrinthine cherrywood necklace, a sepia leather capelet fanning from a standing collar swept with metallic hues, a small brass hexkey, a corseted mahogany silk kirtle accented by a webwork of filigreed bronze framing the neckline, and some polished chestnut leather ankle-boots inset with toothed bronze cogs.

Warm and lustrous, the necklace is fashioned of a solid piece of cherrywood that is ornately carved with labyrinthine designs of ancient Hendoran knotwork. Bronze inlay follows the lazy curves of the interwoven pieces and widens with the wood as if to mimic the natural grain. While the piece starts as a thin column at the collarbone, it soon flattens out in such a way that allows it to lie gently against the collarbone. A cleverly hidden toggle gives the illusion that the piece is seamless.

Definitely your opinion and I am sorry you do not like them. However, Thandiwe designed them off an idea I had and they fit the image I have of what Riend looks like so I like them well enough. Could they be worded better? Of course. There was an issue with the wording of the last part and we threw something together to keep from taking up too much time. It happens, they work. Oh well!

Laphrael's fingers grasp at the neckline of her gold shark skin corset as she takes a deliberate, wavering breath to calm herself.

Well, while some of you may have met Rhavnos in some of the elven events in Prime, I generally play Platinum with the bulk of my time.

So, with the Platinum Summer Trials coming up, I thought I'd post a few of my guys so you can see who you might be interacting with if you come give Plat a try for a few months (free naturally).

My main is owed some alter time so I'm going to leave him out until I get his outfit fixed up to the new trend but here's some others..

First, Rockforge. He's my wizard, always willing to lend spells but refuses to train in mana control (only utilizes mana he believes Meyno grants him).

Then there's my healer, Leech. Old character but got some revamped feature alters recently and I've been trying to give him some more depth than I originally bothered. He got marked by Hagga in the Plat version of the Reiver storyline so I've been trying to play that up via the eye marks she put on him, affecting his empathic nature.

And last, may as well toss up one of my antogonists. The epitome of anguish, Daarthiir. His name intentionally mirrors that of Despana's General, and the timing of his birth had to do with superstitious people in the town where he was born. Basically he got beaten to within an inch of his life every day for as far back as he can remember, and there's a whole story posted to the Plat forums you can see when you get there.

He has a polished bronze death mask (feature hider) and a a moldering black velvet shroud hanging in heavy and tattered web-like folds (armor hider) he wears during rituals he performs, seeking to bring about the extinguishing of his own consciousness through casting the entire world into non-existance. :P

Given time, alterations and the like aren't hard to come by in Plat. Still, that said I do try and really paint a picture with each character so I appreciate the compliment.

I played Prime for a long time and just got tired of dealing with merchant crowds filled by spam like some idiot pretending to be a child and pulling out prop after prop, or people making thinly veiled OOC comments the entire time. It's not bad once in awhile but I really don't play for the levels, more for the RP and the merchants. In Prime, I had a hard time finding both, in Plat less so. Not saying it's for everybody, or that others would have a hard time finding those things in Prime; I just didn't know where to look and Plat made it easier to stand out.

I'm hoping some folks give it a peek during the trials. They're free so what does it hurt, and a lot of people who tried years ago will find the new staff and current playerbase a lot less... well, they'll find a lot of the things that chased people off in the past are less noticeable. At least, a lot of the douchey people either quit or are so entrenched in hermitage or just posting on the forums that they never encounter them in the game.

Choker:
The classic ouroboros shape has been skillfully rendered in pale lor, with obvious attention to detail in the realism of the serpent. With a faintly malevolent cast to its diamond-eyed face, the serpent clasps its own tail in its fanged maw to form the perfect ring of the choker.

Wrap:
The wing is whole and well taken care of, gleaming white with a rainbow pearlescence towards the tips of the feathers. The fact that a single wing is long enough to wrap around even a larger wearer's shoulders attests to the size of the beast it came from. A long stickpin of pure silver pierces through the ends of the wrap to fasten it close.

Corset:
Reinforced with internal boning to retain its shape, the corset features a straight neckline that curves sharply downwards in a deep backless cut with a pair of platinum buckles designed to fasten it at the small of the back. The skin of the piranha is almost metallic in its scintillation, flashing its tiny silver scales in the least light, and put together seamlessly despite the number of skins it must have taken to make the garment.

Nothing too awesome, just my one of my normal outfits. I made it look like it would if someone looked at me; otherwise my tattoo reads weird (they have to do them that way to make the "elaborate" ones).


You see Ysselt Ja'Haadraan, Phlogistonist of Ilithi, an Elf.
She has an oval face with elegant arched eyebrows, pointed ears, tilted almond-shaped jade eyes and a classical nose. Her red-gold-streaked blue-black hair is short and thick, and is worn in a simple, loose style. She have pale skin and a slender figure.
She is tiny for an Elf.
She appears to be young.
She has a tattoo of a king snake twining around her right forearm down to her wrist. A labyrinthine pattern of tiny vela'tohr blossoms forms the serpent's body, each scale alternating between blue-black and silvery white. The ink slithers across both hand and palm before wending its way to the tip of the ring finger on her hand.
She is in good shape.

She is wearing a pair of small lazurite hoops, a thin silver necklace with a pendant displaying a massive black pearl, a sleeveless blouse of deep indigo nightsilk with a silver-edged neckline, a slender steel finger claw set with a cabochon royal Zoluren topaz, some elegant black pants with fine embroidery along the seams and a pair of highly polished boots with golden heels.

Hoops are hiders (hide gwethdesuans and cambrinth). Claw is armour and weapon hider (got the idea from a similar claw here! I remember really liking the use of aureate, and happened to have a topaz that worked well with it; but since I never expected to post here I can't remember who to credit properly :sadface: but I'm sure someone will recognise it?). The necklace is a setting necklace, which means I can put any gem of a particular size in it, and it will display that gem (fantastic for changing styles). Everything else is "normal or off the shelf" stuff.

Claw:
Slim pieces of polished steel have been crafted to fit around the middle finger, each segment buffed to a mirror shine. Along each crevice, thin strips of polished onyx have been inlaid, giving the jewelry a stunning contrast. Embraced at the knuckle is a single royal Zoluren topaz, the beautiful aureate hue of the stone broken only by azure and white inclusions within the gem's core, its overlapping flecks giving the appearance of a stylized swan.

Elaborate floral and vine tattoo SHOW: The elaborately inked floral designs are matched on both hands and cover nearly all the visible surface, from palms, to fingers, to the backs of her hands. The reddish-brown ink complements her skin and fades altogether where her hands meet her wrists.

sandals SHOW: A charming floral pattern of tiny glass beads has been intricately stitched along the silk straps. Handcarved wooden soles provide the finishing touch with their low heel.

Caked in places with the remnants of blood clots and scabs, the pouch is held together by crudely knotted black catgut thread. The overall pouch has a sickly glaze to it, the pale skin coated in a faint ruddy veneer with a coppery tinge to the scent.

Though the black ora blade is well-honed, retaining its sharp edge, the fuller is faintly crusted with a dark red substance that mars the surface of the metal. Etched into the band of silver where the hilt meets the blade are a series of tiny hash marks.

He is wearing a fierce death-mask helm crested with vor'taz horns, a small black animal coffin held with a wide shoulder strap, a coffinwood weapon case, a mummy shroud cloak, some morbid black robes, a rugged black suede doublet, a coffin-shaped satchel, and a pair of imperfect undertaker bat skin boots.

Yes I believe the mask was off the shelf from last years Summer merchants in FW. I saw it and loved it. It was what inspired the outfit.
