He appears to be a Forest Gnome.
He is short and appears to be very young. He has sleepy purple eyes and tanned skin. He has raggedly cut, unkempt red hair streaked with silver. He has a clean-shaven face, a small nose and deep laugh lines.
He has a vaalin-swept black stone spike in his right eyebrow, a squirrel holding a crossbow tattoo on his arm, and a tree-hugging ranger tattoo on his finger.
He has minor bruises on his neck.
He has developed slurred speech.
He is wearing some flexible silver-tooled chain adorned with a swarm of squirrels mauling a ranger, a wiregrass anklet, an ugly and frayed boarhide pouch, a crystal amulet, a tree bark amulet, an onyx-inlaid mithril alloy stickpin, a large black bunny-eared hat with a toy squirrel perched between the two ears, a clawed and frayed black spidersilk cloak with the image of a squirrel wielding two falchions stitched onto the left shoulder, some lightly-clawed leather gloves embroidered with a squirrel holding a claidhmore, a platinum-bound silk Adventurer's Guild badge, a small soft velvet tote with a picture of a kitten's head painted on the side, a pair of black diamond-dusted pants hemmed with an array of silver flames, some squirrel fur-tufted boots with a pudgy toy squirrel hanging from the laces, some sloppy sanguine socks, and an archaic wood composite bow slung over your shoulder.

You see Lady Dschamila Wasser the Caretaker.
She appears to be a Human.
She is taller than average and appears to be advanced in years. She has sparkling sea green eyes and tanned skin. She has long, shimmering bluish-green hair that falls in wave-like curls and has been interwoven with strings of mother-of-pearl and blue coral. She has a dainty face and slender wrists.
She has a seashell tattoo on her ear, a small green frog tattoo on her finger, a blue seahorse tattoo on her neck, a blue mermaid tattoo on her wrist, a blue trident tattoo on her ankle, a beautiful harp tattoo on her arm, and a tattooed mermaid sitting on a steel grey anchor on her arm.
She is wearing a sitting beanbag mermaid, a flowing circlet of crystal blue water, a twisted spiral shell earring, a pair of pearl dolphin earrings, an opalescent seashell necklace, a strand of cultured pearls, a tiny pirate ship in a water-filled bottle suspended from a gilded chain, a cerulean brocade cloak patterned with rolling ocean waves, a white silken bandage edged with embroidered acantha leaves, a dragonfire opal hatpin, a silver wire pin wrought as a smiling mermaid offering a perfect pearl, a brightly-hued toy parrot, an etched onyx pirate ship pin, some goldfish-shaped hairjewels, a bejeweled cerulean fur stole, some sea-blue rugged leather gloves clasped with small anchor-shaped pearls, a sea-green watered silk bodice laced up the front with ocean blue ribbons, a gray glass windy shipwreck stickpin, a black pirate's eyepatch, a delicate gold toe ring, a butterfly charm, a beautiful sea-water green ribbon, an iridescent silver fishing lure, a sparkling lapis-inlaid bluebird, a deep blue glaesine orb, a golden trident pin, a sky blue herb satchel slung over her shoulder, a gold-trimmed cerulean silk haversack slung over her other shoulder, an octopus-shaped backpack, a masterfully crafted glaes armband, an interlocking sealife wristlet jeweled with ocean-hued gems, an amber and gold charm bracelet, an opaline sea nymph ring, a gold ring, a vaalin and water sapphire ring, a linked scallop-shell belt, a pearl-inset sea blue gem purse clasped with a miniature polished mithril mermaid, a tightly woven fishnet satchel, a celestial blue shell collecting pouch stitched with ivory sand silvers, a flowing ocean-blue silk skirt cinched at the waist with a circlet of seashells, a delicate gold dolphin anklet, and some haon clogs set with opalescent shell fragments.

I just removed all the scars unless you really wanted a wall of text.

Painted on the shield is a male gnome, his hat covering his face. Under the hat, you see a dark grin. Clutched in one hand is an upturned dagger with blood dripping down the blade. A bulging purse is held in his other hand. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.
There appears to be something written on it.

He is holding a pearly pink vultite buckler in his left hand.
He is wearing a dark leather locksmith's toolkit, a flamboyant bright pink rucksack, some fancy pink armor, a pearly pink scarf, a gaudy gold engagement ring sporting a fingernail-sized pink diamond, a square-cut pink dreamstone pin, a pink velvet weapons sling slung over his shoulder, an unwashed blush-pink cloak, some saucy pink leather leggings, a pink topaz studded iron medallion, a pink leather wrist sheath, a brilliant pink belt, a pearly pink poke slung over his other shoulder, a pearly pink mithril helmet with large pink metal wings on each side, some furry pink monkey slippers with tiny sparkling ruby eyes, a deep pink pouch, a trilliant-cut pink topaz stickpin a crystal amulet.

I particularly like the saucy pink leggings. Although the slippers come in a close second.

Tailored in traditional dark elven style, the cloak is blacker than the shadows of night. A horrifying portrayal of screaming and crying faces has been worked with silvery, silken floss in a web-like pattern over the entire garment. The way the inventory system works now, if you put socks on, and then boots on, they will layer like this.

So the person has

some vibrant red socks

and also has

which sound a lot like a cobbling-skill made item...granted a really really GAUDY item, but it isn't an alteration.

She may be a well liked gal but...

Name: Evelith Ohalo Vaalor
Profession: Blademistress
Race: Elf Gender: Female
She is of diminutive height and appears to have come of age.
She has dark-haloed ashen eyes and soft, fair skin.
She has long, wavy sable hair woven into a wrist-thick herringbone plait.
She has a thin nose and high cheekbones.
Her pale countenance is like unto moonbeams shining through gossamer veils.
Officer of The Northern Fury
Member of Elanthian Elegance
Guild Master of the Warrior Guild

This isn't an endorsement of the alter, but from the official Simu docs:

Cholen's preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a young man with summer-sun gold hair, blue eyes and a slight build. He is arrayed in fine but exaggerated clothing, and he favors a great cloak with patches of every color and shape imaginable. In manner, he is playful and mocking. His symbol is a crimson lute on a field of gold.

Also, shouldn't his bracers be trimmed with dark storm agates instead of agate?

I think I'm more bugged that he's not dressed head to toe. Yes, it's a personal quirk.

Farn
11-26-2008, 05:48 PM
Cholen's an Arkati, so his cloak probably has some special properties that cause it to to be constantly shifting, or inspiring innumerable images and colors in the mind of any who look at it.

Or something.

I guess that means it's possible for someone else to have one with similar properties. It's silly in both cases though. I did my part to try to make Simu's document make sense.

She appears to be a Half-Elf.
She appears to be very young. She has twinkling silver-shot thistle blue eyes and alabaster skin. She has very long, vibrant silvery blonde hair that twists and whorls about her face in a mess of spiraling curls. She has a button nose and long pointy ears. She has a slight pout to her plump rosy lips.

Yeah, I was bitching about this kind of theme (and Bunie herself) during this festival. Ratolin with everything rat and Hollyday with everything holly. It gets a bit tiring to see all the time.

I got to see two winners tonight, one uber cutesy, the other uber evil. I'm not sure I could pick out just one item as the tackiest.

You see Ana.
She appears to be a Human.
She appears to be in the prime of life. She has emerald lashed, brilliant cobalt green eyes and tanned skin. She has shoulder length, wavy sandy blonde hair gathered into a sleek ponytail at the nape of her neck and secured with an emerald green scarf. She has full, silken lips and tiny dimples. Below her left eye is a small, dark birthmark that oddly resembles a poison ivy leaf.
She has a conspicuous blond human tattoo on her wrist, a braided blond ponytail, and a small empath tattoo on her neck.
She has some minor cuts and bruises on her right arm, minor cuts and bruises on her back, and minor bruises about the head.
She has old battle scars on her right hand.
She is holding a spiraling empath's staff with the word WAIT carved into the side in her right hand.
She is wearing a pair of poison green slippers, an emerald green satin skirt embroidered with little assassin figures running around the hem, an emerald green flask with "ANA" inscribed on the front, a poison green sack clearly marked "non-green stuff", an emerald satchel stitched with "Green Stones Only Please" on the flap, a gold ring, an emerald-set silver wedding band, a poison green wristlet inset with a tiny emerald, some emerald green leathers held together with medical dressings and gauze, a green bank-shaped pack, a moth-eaten goat hide purse with cookie crumbs stuck to it, a tiny green baby grifflet brooch with bright bulging eyes, an emerald green satin bodice with small shadowy figures peeking from behind the lacing, a fuzzy green tail with singed ends, some gaudy green hunting goggles with tight leather straps, a soft emerald green hooded cloak, a ruby amulet, a soft fuzzy green hat with little untied ear flaps, and a tear-shaped luminous clear glimaerstone pendant.

Never in a million years would I have guessed! Yes guys, I know she is totally screwed up. It started back in the day when people actually RP'd- (and I tried to!) and I had this whole story line that happened to Ana revolving around green stones. If you ask her in character she'll tell you the whole damn story, and explain why she wears each fricken piece of tacky green stuff! (yes there is a story behind each piece pretty much.) The goat hide purse was a wedding present from Boom :) My favorite though are the green hunting goggles. Honestly at this point in Ana's life I'd LOVE to ditch the green, as I get tired of saying 'that's not green 50x a day' but it would be almost a sin at this point I've stuck with it so long. Thanks Jolena for the love-

And fyi, my other characters are pretty well dressed. Yes, I can throw an outfit together with some style, honestly!

You see Lord Terangreal the Healer.
He appears to be a Faendryl Dark Elf.
He is average height and appears to be in the bloom of youth. He has almond-shaped green eyes and black skin. He has very long, wavy black hair worn in a ponytail. He has a gaunt face and a flaring nose.
He has a scar across his neck, old battle scars on his right arm, old battle scars on his right leg, old battle scars on his left leg, old battle scars on his right hand, old battle scars on his left hand, an old battle scar across his chest, an old battle scar across his abdominal area, an old battle scar across his back, a black-and-blue right eye, a black-and-blue left eye, and a scar across his face.

He is wearing some double leather, a ruby amulet, a gold and peridot stickpin, a red glass halfling stickpin, a braided gold ring, a deep black puma fur cloak clasped with a ruby orb, a ragged rose pink harness slung over his shoulder, a thick ebony hood, a large brim pink hat embroidered with tiny red roses, some deep pink satin boots, a moth-eaten russet scarf, a light green scabbard, a simple imflass engagement ring set with an acorn-shaped brown zircon, a heart-cut pink sapphire earring, a knitted multihued scarf, a light pink kilt, a knitted blush pink satchel clasped with a glittering pink tourmaline buckle slung over his other shoulder, a pair of light pink boots, a bright gold ring, a spiked black leather collar, a pair of knit multihued mittens, and a bone-clasped black wolfhide rucksack.

Damn, I wish I had my old logs.

I had one character that had nothing but magician and Marlu items. I don't know what the hell a magician's cloak/shield/weapons/boots/etc... and more I can't remember look like, but I had em!

Another one that had nothing but dead halfling skin, hands, and body parts for a wardrobe. Few merchants came back then that made anything pin worn. Nothing like wearing a bunch of dead halfling hands. Then cooking up halfling part tarts in my tart kiln and handing it out to them.

My last "let's be a jerk a make myself look like a walking nightmare".. Pretty much to mess with all the people wearing cats all over themselves....My dead cat character. Dead kitten bracelet, a cauldron and cat parts to cook in front of them. My altered disabled cat in a bag. My familiar (which I cast until I get a cat). Cat and kitten skin stuff.

I'm wondering if the tart kilns are around. I know I owned three of them at one point. Maybe I can bring em back and see if the cat parts can be made into cat and rabbit into.

As far as I am concerned, if an item has a profession (warrior, wizard, cleric, etc) in it's description it sucks.

Check out my killer: "night black rogue's stealin' cloak of roguish stealth!"

I've never seen a item with a profession it in that didn't make me cringe, not to mention is pretty much totally out of character =P. What makes your full plate WARRIORS plate, 'cause I bet my PALADIN could use it just as well.

Profession names should be totally off limits (alchemist/herb/etc containers and such are fine) in my opinion.

some simple polished armor - 15,000,000 silvers
Although nicely polished, this armor seems rather ordinary. It has no outlandish engravings or etchings and it isn't studded with any precious gems or deadly animal claws. There are no ridiculously large spikes and no mysterious looking runes. It's just rather simple. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph
It is heavily padded against critical blows.
Your careful inspection of some simple polished armor allows you to conclude that it is rigid leather armor that covers the torso, arms, legs, neck, and head. You determine that you could wear the armor around your chest. The armor appears to serve some purpose. It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of leather.

These aren't THAT bad. The venerable Innuendo Pants:

You tap some patched black pants, which is in your right hand.

>l my pants
The black pants are cinched securely with a thick belt and a golden ale mug buckle. The knees have long since faded and have been replaced with green patches. On the left pant leg is the image of a farmer running through a field while the right leg depicts a cow jumping over a fence. Stitched boldly across the rear is a message that reads, "Work is best done on your knees."

She appears to be a Dark Elf.
She is tall and appears to be very young. She has black eyes and dark skin. She has waist length, chestnut hair gathered into a fountaining ponytail at the crown of her head and secured with a white bandana. She has an angular face and sharply-curved pointed ears.
She has a curly blond beard.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a devastating chapeau adorned with a flirty little veil, a silver-inlaid black diamond pendant, a braided silken ribbon choker, an enruned silver alloy torc, a deathstone studded steel neckchain, an elegant sheer silk wrap laced with wisps of spidersilk, some ash grey watered silk gloves, a dusky grey watered silk gown with long flowing sleeves, a copper-bound silk Adventurer's Guild badge, an enruned satin vest, a ribbon-laced satchel, some supple black hunting leathers, a triple-bladed ivory silk fan, a silver and agate armband, a dull gold ring, an antique silver waistchain, a dove grey watered silk parasol, a golden imflass mesh pouch, a lily white pouch, and a pair of ivory dancing slippers.

He appears to be a Human from Trauntor.
He appears to be aged. He has brooding pale blue eyes and fair skin. He has short, thick brown hair streaked with silver. He has a clean-shaven face and a trimmed mustache.
He has a black-eyed cockroach tattoo on his arm.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a crystal amulet, a dashing bearskin scarf, an onyx studded serge bandana, a silver etched diamond pin, some sanguine imploding boots speckled with glistening doomstone dust, a butterfly charm, an aelotoi-weaved pyrothag hide belt inset with plates of urglaes, a black spidersilk sorcerer's cloak emblazoned with the symbol of Voln in silvery veniom thread, a cord-tied theatre mask covering his face, a furry black goat pin, a thin veil iron band, a small gold bell strung on a black silk cord, a twisted black implosion symbol, a tiny golvern star medal, a black silk mourning armband stitched with a white swan on a scarlet sunburst, a scabrous hook-shaped nose, an inscribed darkly gleaming pentagram, a burnished black gold cockroach clasp inset with sparkling sapphire eyes, a soft caedera leather harness slung over his shoulder, a brocaded tsark skin backpack, a splotchy oilskin bag, a weathered oilcloth apothecary satchel secured with a thin length of willow bark, an instructor's sash from the Imperial Hall of Magic at Nydds, some stately white caster's leathers, a golden shaving basin, a rat fang fetish, and a plain gold ring.

She appears to be a Human.
She is very tall and appears to be in the prime of life. She has emerald lashed, brilliant cobalt green eyes and pale skin. She has shoulder length, wavy sandy blonde hair that has a slender braid at the temple adorned with a tertiary white hawk feather painted with geometric patterns. She has a freckled nose and pale supple lips that accentuate her tiny dimples. Below her left eye is a small, dark birthmark that oddly resembles a poison ivy leaf.
She has a conspicuous blond human tattoo on her wrist, a small empath tattoo on her neck, a little green dot tattoo on her forehead, and a long blond ponytail.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a cobalt blue haon staff adorned with a spiral of blue diamonds in her right hand.
She is wearing a fire pearl inset gold barrette, a soft fuzzy green hat with little untied ear flaps, a translucent amber locket preserving a delicate spiderling, a soft emerald green hooded cloak, a tiny green baby grifflet brooch with bright bulging eyes, an emerald green satin bodice with small shadowy figures peeking from behind the lacing, a black regal griffin insignia, a silvery service medal, a gornar-bound ironwood Adventurer's Guild badge, a droopy-eyed amber hued lizard, a fuzzy green tail with singed ends, a deep pink scarf, a green bank-shaped pack, some pale ivory leather, a poison green wristlet inset with a tiny emerald, an emerald green flask with "ANA" inscribed on the front, an emerald satchel stitched with "Green Stones Only Please" on the flap, a poison green sack clearly marked "non-green stuff", a poison green suede sack threaded with a cloth patch that reads, "Beware of FeFe", an emerald green satin skirt embroidered with little assassin figures running around the hem, a delicate green sapphire infused anklet, and a pair of poison green slippers.

a glaes-hilted sable-hued craquemarte -
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of mithril.
A tsark's head with faceted ruby eyes has been carved from flawless translucent glaes and dyed a rich shade of volcanic red. Intricate scales are painstakingly carved into the unusual hilt to add a sense of realism of the beast. A sable-hued mithril blade emerges from the vicious snarl with a slight curve, giving the appearance of an elongated tongue snaking past rows of sharpened teeth. A faint aura of holy light radiates from the craquemarte. You notice Regyy's crafting mark.

Easily the worst weapon alter I've seen in a long time.

Found on a table in the Pawnshop.....

Made of the purest silver, this ring has been carefully hammered into a groove which holds a second ring inside of it that rotates. The second ring spins freely with movement of the wearer's hand, and has small images of spiders and skulls, whose eyes are inlaid with tiny dragons-tear rubies, imprinted on the entire surface. Written on the inside of the ring are the words: "To my Pookums with Love, Snugglebunny."

Not really an alter, but saw this guy today and it made me want to cry to see a ranger dressed like this.

You see Darmargoth.
He appears to be a Human from Hendor.
He is taller than average and appears to be very young. He has piercing dark eyes and tanned skin. He has short, jet black hair. He has an angular face.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a silver-tooled dwarven long bow with diamondback snakeskin braided about its grip in his left hand.
He is wearing a thick rolton hide vest, a crystal amulet, a shiny gold ring, a red crushed silk shirt, a ditty bag, a dark grey snake skin backpack, an enruned snake skin kerchief, a snake-etched silver earring, an old vultite aventail, an agate-inset pewter neckchain, a soft viper skin longcoat, an ochre viper skin overcoat, a coal black vest, a turquoise-bound maoral Adventurer's Guild badge, a White Haven bear head pin, some viper skin gloves, an opaline snowball pin, an oversized instrument satchel, a dark blue viper skin tunic, some rolaren studded elven leathers, some blackened vaalorn arm greaves, an etched red quartz wrist-cuff, an exquisite gold ring, a coal black belt, a grass green viper skin pouch, a snake skin quiver, some coal black serpent skin trousers, some polished imflass leg greaves, and some dark green snake skin boots.

I sense a snake-skin motiff that is destroyed by instrument satchels and various random metal accessories.

Ouch

She has a faceted ruby stud in her left nostril, a Cleric's Guild tatooo on her neck, a tattooed symbol of Voln on her wrist, and a tattoo of the Baker's guild on her ankle.
She has an old battle scar across her abdominal area.
She is wearing a chaplet of alternating egg-shaped rubies and black glaes tines, a crystal amulet, a blood-red thorned rose stickpin, a heavily enruned gold ring, a small crystal flask, a rune-etched golden clasp, a small heart-shaped ruby talisman, a jam-spattered tart satchel, an ancient Black Wolf armband, a small Silvergate pin, a dark blue tart-shaped pin, a shimmering red marbrinus hip-scarf, a Truefolk foot hair cape, a veniom-worked survival kit, a linked ruby demon miniature bracelet, a silver cross pendant, a ruby-beaked white kelyn dove, a silver round button, a gold-filigree weapons case, a stylized ruby flame symbol, and a truefolk-crafted banded shield engraved with red stylized flames.

Most GMs wear OOG items because a GM isn't part of the game. You only see them when you need them for something. They pretty much dress them how they want. Now, their merchants (whom our characters interact with) are usually dressed IC.
