I didn't think they locked, but I think they unhinge. And if something is programmed into them to rock their face back and forth thirty times before deciphering the fact that it's a grizzly bear, then, I dunno.

Sabre-tooth tigers had a pretty weak bite but their ability to unhinge their jaw was probably more advantageous; at some point, than a more ATP-consuming bite-by-bite process.

The only genus/species I know that "locks" its jaw is usually afflicted by tetanus. Although I'm sure the term "locking jaws" must apply to some chordate, independently of unhinging, but I am le tired.

Ok, more pics of the kids. Right after the ceremony at the school we went camping. The kids made friends with some people in the camp up from us, who had..of all things a singing machine! Soon after was my oldest's birthday, she turned 15.

One is soon to be adopted into the family. She's foster right now, they courts are sorting out the details to remove parental rights of her mother, being as now they know who her mother is. Likely the first of the year, before the adoption can be finalized though. I gave birth to the blondes, however. :)

True enough, but fostering in particular is emotionally draining.

one example:

You are rescue a young child from an awful situation, where the family does everything they can to stay in contact with the child even though they are court ordered not to because they are tremendous drug addicted fuck-ups.

You give the child all the advantages they would never have had, the child is happy, healthy, and doing well enough in school that college is a possibility. Upon turning 18 they immediately move into a crack house to be close to their "mother" pretty much shitting all over the foster parents.

This happened to a friend of mine, really showed the reality of nature vs. nurture.

It really takes a special kind of person to be a foster parent. I've thought of doing it, but I don't quite know that I have what it takes.

The girls are gorgeous though, and good luck with that adoption. A lot more luck to you over the next 4 years; I have no idea how I survived high school without my mom choking me a time or two, and I was the only child in the house.

For backstory, she was abandoned at one of the places I work (the groomer place, not the vet tech place) with one of her littermates and me and another groomer adopted them.
