WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) -- Malian commandos stormed a luxury hotel in Bamako on Friday after Islamist gunmen took 170 people including many foreigners hostage in the capital of the former French colony, which has been battling rebels allied to al Qaeda for several years.

Had to buy some stair treads, old dog having trouble on wooden steps.
Asshole of an ex finally let me hear what he's thought of me for the past couple of years of our relationship. Blames me for everything. Even though I took him in to my moms rent free, sold my car to get a new car for us, moved 8 hours away from my family for his promotion, became miserable for 2 years and when we broke up I left him the apartment, the car I cosigned for him, the furniture I paid half for--all to go back home to my mom's with nothing but my clothes and the ps4 (lol).
So then he couldn't afford the apartment, lost his job because he got sick, was too proud to get help from his mom, had to move out and move back home, leave his friends, leave his job at Amazon, move to bumfuck North Dakota, and can barely afford the car now so now I'm screwed--and he hates me because I have a better job, my own place, I have my friends, and I'm living a much happier life. It just sucks to hear--because I really thought he was my friend and he was happy for me but now I know he resents me. Why? I don't know. He broke up with me.

You see Renowned Lord Methais Sparkfinger the Wizard.
He appears to be a Half-Elf.
He is very tall and appears to be ancient. He has tired blue eyes and fair skin. He has long, white hair. He has a wrinkled face, a thin nose and thick bushy eyebrows.
He has a long white beard.
He is in good shape.
He is holding an elegant lor runestaff in his right hand.
He is wearing an inlaid gold ring, a black silk bag, a lion-adorned black silk armband, a bloodstone studded silver buckle, some thick black full leather, an onyx-inset copper neckchain, a golden Rone Academy pin, a garnet-eyed pewter skull brooch, a dwarven wand harness, a long black leather coat lined in charcoal tones, some comical shart-stained trousers singed with holes at the knees, an ithzir signet band, a veniom-plated Ilyan Cloud charm, a wizard's hat, a sturdy razern key suspended from a tightly linked coraesine chain, a red rubber nose, some dapper black leather suspenders, a mithril juggernaut pin, a gilded eahnor campaign pin, a tiny invar volcano pin, a Warrior Guild member pin, a simple gold pin that reads, "I Support Mayor Walkar.", a silver mayoral race button, a bas-relief gold medal, a threadbare zombie handpuppet, some thick pyrothag hide gloves with drakar studs, some high dark sable boots, a simple silver chain, and a fitted viridian ritual robe.

The doctor said it didn't look like there was any bleeding under the skin but it sure did swell up a lot, I think it almost doubled in size.
I injured mine by...well...I jumped down the whole one step that goes from my house to my garage and yeah...everyone at the hospital seemed surprised I injured it so easily. It's maybe a two foot forward leap and maybe 1.5 feet down. I must be really out of shape :(

Liability as in being held responsible if he's in an accident? Did he register the car in the new state? Pretty sure that takes you off being responsible right there.
You shouldn't need the license plate to take your name off of it, as long as you're on the title and have the VIN.
Warriorbird
11-23-2015, 07:02 AM
In most states this involves calling the DMV. If Virginia you might have to go to one in person. Dunno if others are like that.
Yeah when we bought the car it was in CA, but he's registered it now in North bumfuck Dakota. My name is still on the title, aren't I still liable in case he does get in a accident or decides to like smuggles cocaine from somewhere or some shit like that. I don't know.
Like was he able to just put his name on the registration when he registered it over there?
Taernath
11-23-2015, 10:26 AM
Registering doesn't remove names from car titles, unless you're doing it as part of a title transfer. For the title, is it AND or AND/OR between your names? As stupid as it is you need his permission to get your name off, but he needs your permission if he wants to sell it if it is AND. If he gets in a wreck you won't be held liable.
If he defaults though, you will have to repay whatever he owed and your credit will take a hit. You might be able to redeem the car and take full ownership, but that is something you would need to take up with whoever did the loan. You might want to lawyer up, particularly if he's doing this maliciously.

If it was completely torn you wouldn't be able to use the muscle at all. You'll be fine. You'll probably get scar tissue, and for about a year after it fully heals you'll get flashbacks every couple months or so where it feels like you've repeated the injury but you actually haven't, then for another couple years you'll get them every six months or so, then they'll mostly go away for good.
In or out of shape is a misleading term. You can be in excellent baseball shape but terrible basketball shape, or excellent swimming shape but terrible running shape. If you don't usually/often/ever jump that step, you can still be in good shape for walking or running or enforcing punitive and regressive views on the proletariat and ethnic minorities like you like to do.

Had to put one of my dogs to sleep yesterday. A stray dachshund I picked up a few years ago off the road that seemed to be neglected, ended up with bad back problems to where he could barely walk around on his own and didn't have much of any quality of life left, all he could do pretty much was eat and sleep and sometimes walk around, usually needing my help, and couldn't get to his feet on his own. Then about a week ago his left leg pretty much stopped working, making him even more miserable.
Still doubting the fuck out of myself despite all that. I never had to put a pet to sleep before and it sucks fucking ass. :(

Really sorry to hear that. I've been in the same situation myself and I'd say 99% of the time you'll always doubt yourself in this situation, and there's nothing you can really do to stop that doubt. Just know that you gave him a better life than he would have had for his last few years. And when they get to the point he was at, how much enjoyment out of life do they really get anyway. Hang in there.

You did the right thing. One of my dogs had a stroke several years back and she couldn't really walk afterwards. Her attempts at walking were almost dragging her back half around. I found her laying in her own piss on the floor a couple times and could tell she thought she would be in trouble for going in the house, but she just didn't have control anymore. It always sucks, but sometimes you've just got to do what's best for them.

That's what I keep trying to tell myself but I can't shake the guilt. He technically could walk at least most of the time, it was just a struggle for him, and sooner or later he would usually end up sitting down/lying down/falling over and he could almost never get to his feet on his own after this started. There were times I'd come home and he pissed/shit himself too, not because he didn't have control over it, but because he couldn't get to his feet. He got a lot of baths this year. There would also be times when I'd come home and he was on the floor struggling to get to his feet for who knows how long. It was heartbreaking because I was powerless to fix it other than picking him up and making him comfortable again. Always seemed like no matter how bad it got for him, if I picked him up and held him for a while he would tilt his head back and relax all peaceful like as if nothing was ever wrong, then usually fall asleep after a few minutes.
If I didn't keep him up in the evenings, he would usually be up most/all of the night, which kept me up too, since he's eventually start whining/yelping for me to come help him because he wanted to walk around. It was a lot of really high maintenance stuff, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
I just can't help but wonder if one of those dog wheelchairs would have restored some quality of life for him, because his only real issue was mobility.
He was a mess when I picked him up off the road almost exactly 3 years ago. Whoever his previous owner was either abused or more likely neglected him. He didn't seem malnourished, but his teeth were a wreck and he'd startle very easily but didn't act scared or anything, just kinda had this lost and confused look. The vet ended up removing 9 of his teeth because they were just rotting away, and lost 2 canines over the past year or 2. It never seemed to bother him though, he still ate like normal, just a bit slow, so i really have no idea what kind of life he had before I got him but it didn't seem like it was a good one. The vet estimated he was at least 10 or so when I first picked him up. I could tell he had back problems then too by the way he walked, but he could still run and hop around and stuff, it didn't get bad until earlier this year.
He probably would have died long before yesterday and had a shitty rest of his life if I hadn't picked him up. I keep trying to remind myself of that but nothing at all seems to help with the guilt, still questioning if there was more I could have done for him before making that decision.
The fact that he wasn't sick is what kills me the most. If he had some terminal illness or something it would have been a lot easier to swallow, and I've felt beyond horrible since yesterday. At least when my basset hound died last year, as hard as that was on me, it just happened and I didn't have to make the choice to put her to sleep.

Sorry man, that just sucks. Had to go through it twice with my Labs because I wasn't dumb enough the first time to not go through it again! I read your story and immediate remembered how I felt. And, of course, right as I had finally made the decision to put them down it seemed like they had made miraculous recoveries and were jumping around like they were puppies. I KNOW in the end it was for the best. Neither could move and had hip-dysplasia(sp) among a bunch of the things you listed above and the others posted. Plus, they were into their teens which varies for lab-sized dogs as far as length goes. Still, hardest and most questioned decision I have had in my life. Even my divorce was easier to get through question-wise.

You may not see it right now, because of the love and the hurt, but you did right by your dog. I've always said about my dogs, I will pay anything to provide them the quality of life I would want to have myself - and should I not be able to provide that quality of life any longer I would want to do the humane and right thing, which is to make the pain end. I'm not about making this a story about me, I dislike when people do that - but I completely know the hurt you are feeling.
Anyone who loves pets knows that loss, I hope yours is fleeting and the better memories soon push the pain out.

I have never understood how people in these positions continue to turn to drugs. One pretty much has everything going for them, money really becomes no concern, as long as your not an idiot, you have your choice of partners......just never been able to fathom why. I certainly can show very little compassion for them when compared to the man/woman that grew up on the "wrong side of the tracks" and turns to drugs for an escape. It's mind boggling.

A lot of drug abuse can be attributed to chemical imbalances which can occur regardless of wealth or position. These chemical imbalances are also factors in things like depression and bipolar disorder and a lot of people fall into self-medication.

A good friend of mine bought me a ticket to see the new star wars movie whatever it's called, which I did not ask him to do. He's a big fan, and when he told me he'd already bought tickets a couple of weeks ago and that he got me one, I was like..."great, thanks..."(as in, not really great b/c I don't want to go). So unfortunately, I have to go sit through this movie in 3D this evening. I've taken the time to search a few spoilers so that I'll be able to sleep through it but still kind of talk about it afterward. These kinds of things happen when one tries to be nice and polite and listen to a friend's endless star wars talk because you don't want to hurt your friend's feelings. Thinking of other people's feelings sucks. So I'll show up (stoned) and take a nap to the sound of laser blasters, lame storytelling and giddy nerd laughter. Sigh.

Heard a story a couple days ago about a man who had some disagreement with his bank. He closed his account and emptied his safe deposit box, then put a large fish in the box. The next day the bank was desperately trying to locate the guy. They ended up getting a court order to drill open the box and get rid of the fish. Assuming the story is true (I don't know if it is), I would guess the guy had charges filed against him.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has voiced outrage over the sexual assaults and thefts that male gangs inflicted on women in Cologne on New Year's Eve.
Women have made at least 90 criminal complaints to police about the harassment by gangs at Cologne's main railway station on Thursday night.
Germans have been shocked by the scale of the attacks, involving many groups of drunk and aggressive young men.
Witnesses and police said the men were of Arab or North African appearance.

************************************************** *******************
Vulgarity is not permitted in GemStone IV. You must now retire the FAMILY, and choose a non-vulgar name. If you do not, you will be permanently banned from the game.
************************************************** *******************
Taintedmeat, you have been moved to another room so that you can pick an appropriate name for your character. Your character information and inventory has been saved. Once you have renamed your character to a more appropriate name, you will be returned to the game with your character and inventory intact. To proceed, type RENAME and follow the instructions you are given.
************************************************** *******************
[Rename Pavilion - ]
You are here to rename your character. Type RENAME and follow the instructions given to change your name.
Obvious exits: none
>report How is Taintedmeat OOC?
SEND[Aulis] It's a reference to a very vulgar OOC slang. Please rename to something much more appropriate.
>report No it isn't, it's a reference to old spoiled meat that eventually becomes mystery meat and has nothing to do with your mind being in the gutter.
REPORT should only be used to notify the GemStone IV staff of emergency situations or gamewide technical errors. Please use ASSIST for general support.
SEND[Aulis] It absolutely does reference it in a vulgar way. This is non-negotiable.
>report You mean like in Walking Dead when those cannibals were eating that guy's leg that got bitten earlier and told them they're eating Taintedmeat....that's vulgar now? Stop being so overzealous.
SEND[Aulis] You've been told multiple times in the past to not pick inappropriate names, and yet you continued to do so then. Your past has shown you have a history of such actions. Which is why this is not going to slide.
>report What, like 10 years ago when I made a bard named Rickroll? What else is on that list, because other than that I don't recall ever being forced to rename. Please enlighten me.
SEND[Aulis] When you were told then that name was inappropriate you continued to make multiple different iterations of the same name that were all just as inappropriate.
SEND[Aulis] Let's just pick a new appropriate name, please.
>report Actually I changed the name to Rastley. And then I changed it to something else that didn't get messed with and threw the character away when I got bored with him. But way to exaggerate. Not to mention that was at least 10 years ago. Do you have anything credible to go on? Because that still doesn't make Taintedmeat a vulgar name, as shown in the example I gave.
>report I already have an appropriate name.
SEND[Aulis] Actually, it wasn't quite 10 years ago. Also, you picked Rickroll, then you picked Rickrolled (still inappropriate), and then Rastley (still intentionally referencing the same OOC name).
SEND[Aulis] But as I said from the start, Taintedmeat is a very vulgar reference and this is non-negotiable.
>report Ok what year was it then? Because it was several years ago. And regardless, that was one character. And doesn't change the fact that Taintedmeat isn't a vulgar reference. Just because you say it is doesn't make it so.
SEND[Aulis] It is clearly in bad taste and reference to vulgar slang, even if you disagree. However, the GM's have the final decision on policy issues.
>report That's just ridiculous. But whatever, I'll take it up with feedback. Oh by the way, Aulis is also an inappropriate OOC name because towns in Greece don't exist in GS. Practice what you preach, GM or not. Lead by example and all.

>Heh; pick out the silly name here.
>>This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Maylan disk, the Bandanas disk, the Symerian disk, the yellow Kylinarr disk, the Ventosh disk, a ruffled horned owl, a massive wheeled tower, a tall wooden post with a large silver-inlaid lantern with a bright red ribbon on it, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.
Also here: Kazon, the body of Taintedmeat who is lying down, Lord Burbul, Kalsicar who is kneeling, Evocater, Lord Shirvak, Lady Maylan who is kneeling, Rhemy, Shinann, Spontae, Wigwasatek, Lord Bandanas, Wyndwalkr, Symerian, Kylinarr, Olybino, Ventosh, Pote who is kneeling, Elyenne

I have to be honest, I thought the name was funny, but it is a crap name (though you could have the dumbest most vulgar name and I still would not report it). That aside, there are just as shitty names that have been around forever.
To be even more honest some of our GM's are junk. Had one that could not figure out the enchanting potions, insisted that dirtok potion was required for a 3x project going to 4x. I could give a shit ton more examples, but I'm just tired of dealing with them, their bias has become so obvious.

People are fed up with both parties and their typical bullshit.
2012 and 2014 were both Republican "victories" where most of them ran on repealing Obamacare... yet, when it comes down to actually voting against funding it, they lock step right with the Democrats and pass the bills. "We can't do it yet, but we're really going to try in 2016!" The last omnibus spending pretty much gave into everything the Democrats wanted. I believe Obama is one of the worst negotiators in the government.. but when it comes to Republicans, he takes them to the woodshed every time.
I'm voting for Trump... if only to have good entertainment for the next 4 years.

Fucking Aulis.First of all, you misunderstood the criterion from the beginning. It was never about being OOC, it was always about being vulgar. Arguing over whose name was OOC only hurt your case because it antagonized the GM and even if you were right you'd be wrong because it had nothing to do with the matter at hand.
Second of all, "SEND[Aulis] You've been told multiple times in the past to not pick inappropriate names, and yet you continued to do so then. Your past has shown you have a history of such actions. Which is why this is not going to slide."
If your goal is to make posts here, your tactics are very solid. If your goal is not to change your name, they are hopeless.

Aulis was exaggerating the fuck out of that too. Close to 10 years ago I made a bard named Rickroll, renamed to Rickrolled, then renamed to Rastley. The entire thing took place over maybe 20 minutes after getting thrown into the rename pavilion. He's wording it to make it sound like I rolled up a character every week and went crazy with the names.
Feedback also agreed that the name Taintedmeat being vulgar was a stretch. Which would make sense, considering that it's not vulgar.
As a matter of fact, this is what feedback had to say:
I'll agree that vulgar is a stretch. You were also hit by another GameMaster for Out of Genre, which is more appropriate. If you wait until no one remembers the Walking Dead reference, then it would be ok. But unfortunately, not as hilarious.
The out of genre reference is most likely from when I emailed Aulis to throw me back into the rename pavilion after I changed the name to Mysterymeat, since it said the name was OOC when it got tossed back in. I don't know for sure if it was Aulis that did it, since it happened about an hour later and I never got an email response from him. Worst case, Aulis said the name was ok and another GM said it wasn't, which is a whole other problem with the naming policy.
But back on topic, looks like you're wrong again.

Ubisoft has been antagonistic toward PC gamers for a long time. They are also absolutely paranoid of piracy. A while ago their CEO said PC gamers pirated 95% of their games, and used it as an excuse to implement multi-stage DRM which could literally damage your computer (uPlay is a legacy of this). Then there are the shoddy ports. I legitimately think they don't care, and/or are trying to force gamers to only play on console.

ABINGDON, Md.
Two sheriff's deputies have died from their wounds after a gunman opened fire in a restaurant, near a shopping center in Maryland, the sheriff says.
A man shot a sheriff's deputy in the head inside a crowded restaurant at lunchtime Wednesday during a shootout, authorities and witnesses previously said.
Sophia Faulkner, 15, said she and her mother were getting lunch and almost sat right next to the gunman. Instead, they chose a booth about 10 feet away because the man appeared "sketchy" and disheveled. He was sitting in the back and hadn't ordered any food, Faulker and her mother said.
A sheriff's deputy was called to the restaurant after a report about someone causing a problem. The deputy tried to talk to the man, who was apparently known to workers. The deputy sat down beside him, asked how he was doing and the man shot him in the head.
"I saw him fall back out of his chair and the blood started coming out," Faulkner said. "I didn't know how to process it. My mom said, 'What's going on?' and I said, 'Get down, someone just got shot.'"

I then asked them if they felt it was ok to only talk about Black History once a year... and their response was.. "I don't understand"
I got in trouble for posting still alive and successful black people for Black History Month.

Our society has decided to set aside one month a year for the special commemoration of historical events relevant to a people who have a shared heritage of oppression and success just as we sometimes have marked an Irish-American Heritage or National American Italian Heritage Month. This commemoration is a focal point, a way of organizing time. You're surely aware that just because there's a feast day for Saint Scholastica, it doesn't stop me from remembering her on any or every other day of the year. Just because I write my wife a note on Valentine's Day or our anniversary, it doesn't mean I can't tell her I love her on any or every day of the year. Just because educators and all sorts of other people decided to establish a particular month for remembering black history, it didn't stop me from teaching about the history of black men and women throughout the year when I was working in the public high schools.
So what was your point really? You act like it's obvious but it's not at all.

Because setting aside one month to talk about Black History makes it seem like the rest of the year Black History doesn't matter.
Fine .. maybe YOU bring up Black people in History ever chance you got, but I know I never learned about any outside of February. I know my nieces and nephews certainly don't.
But you know... keep thinking that because you personal do things, that EVERY single person does.

Just found out from my Mom, that my Grandma's heating unit stopped working at her apartment. She lives in an apartment complex for... well Old People.
She is 78, has only one lung, on Oxygen, has heart issues, and can't move right due to arthritis.
It's going to be between 0 and -15 here this weekend.
They told her that since the office is closing at 5 PM, and they are closed on Monday due to the Holiday, someone won't be out to get her heat working till Tuesday.
WTF is wrong with people.

You missed my point. I'm not sure why this black history month thing bothers you. I'm out drinking with friends, don't feel like writing more.

What bothered me is that the person, and a lot of people, get so excited to learn about Black People in History during February, when they should be learning about them all year round.
Now go drink lots of booze and then take a chill pill.

Yes, automatic payments are withdrawn before sent, that's just how it works. After 20 min on hold I finally got someone and the check wasn't cashed so it is being investigated. In the meantime I couldn't find my checkbook on my desk because I had taken it downstairs to tip the building staff on the last day I used my old purse, so after 10 min of searching my room I finally realized that and paid my rent and I couldn't take a shower before tonight's events.

This is obviously made up. Beating and robbing a marine is impossible. Soldier, airman, seaman, sure.

I had heard vague details, but I didn't realize it happened like 20 miles from me. What pieces of shit they must be. I hope they can catch them.

I'm always a little suspicious of these kinds of stories, particularly after he made statements about how white people are always being attacked by blacks/BLM and it's not in the media enough. Anyone remember Ashley Todd?

Ugh, so many badly written requirements. I guess I'm supposed to be happy that I even have requirements.
