my last two cruises were NCL, they were ok, but something seemed lacking. Everything was just a little bland, not bad, but not what it could be. Good point on no casinos on the Disney cruises.

Busted up my face on a sandbar in some waves today. This is literally the fourth time I been owned by that exact sandbar. My hands are all cut up too and I'm having sharp pains in my shoulder. I bet more things will hurt tomorrow. Also I smell like sewage....Fucking Galveston. It smells like ocean until you get home and smell yourself. RANK.

Took the family to the Phantom of the Opera at the Wang Center years ago, paying way the hell too much for good seats, dresses for the girls and all that crap... and the man behind me started singing along. I nearly lost my mind. I had to turn around, look him in the eye and tell him it was not a sing along before he would shut up.

Yet another Carnival cruise ship is having mechanical problems at sea, the third in a month, US media reported Friday.
It was an added headache for the company whose vessel Triumph suffered an engine fire last month in the Gulf of Mexico, leaving thousands stranded for days without power or working toilets.
This time a ship called Legend is having a problem with a unit that affects its sailing speed, CBS news said, quoting a statement from Carnival, the world's largest cruise ship company.
A visit Friday to the Cayman Islands has been scrapped and the ship will head to its home port in Tampa, Florida, with arrival expected Sunday.
Another other troubled ship, the Dream, was finishing a Caribbean cruise when it suffered a mechanical issue with a diesel generator. Power was not lost, but elevators and restrooms periodically lost electricity.
Rather than sail home to Cape Canaveral, Florida some 4,300 passengers will be flown home from St. Maarten, the company said.

It's Al-Qaeadadaeda. Typical 'lookie over here at the left hand while I smack the shit out of you with the right' deal. First they infiltrated our airlines and now while the focus is there, they're taking out our cruise ships! I'm on to those fuckers, though. Next it'll be the train system. After that, I'm thinkin subways before they finally manage to plant some people in the automotive companies.

What processor?C2D E8400. The problem is really trying to do all of it at once, so it might have actually been a memory issue despite having enough memory to store the vector once it's generated. Like, I can do 10 100-million vectors without a problem, but 1 1-billion vector is a huge pain.

Third morning in a row I've woken up with back pain, and the second in a row I took the heating pad to it. And I'm not likely to see my federal tax refund before the end of May at the very earliest so we still have a few more months to go before we can finally replace our 14-year-old mattress.

(Speaking of, if anyone has recommendations for a good mattress, I'm all ears. I don't want a Tempur-Pedic, but I am seriously considering Sleep Number, unless anyone's got other recommendations.)

I did some research on mattresses last year and my tax return might go to one, too. I'm probably going to get a Saatva (www.saatva.com), and my friends love their Tempur-Pedic. I nixed Sleep Number because all the reviews said they didn't last very long.

I'm a Sleep Number fan. It's on year 3 and seems to be working just fine. They make some chincy ones, but the mid to high range ones don't loose air, and have a quiet motor. I think Tempur-Pedic makes a dual sided adjustable firmness mattress. I think the price range for that one was starting around four to five thousand though.

I heard a few years ago, I think from someone here on PC, that Tempur-Pedic will get an imprint of you by the end of 5 years if you have any size to you.. and I'm definitely not what people call small.

I've never heard of the Saatva, I'll definitely take a look into it.

And another frown for today: while doing the grocery shopping, the store's fire alarm went off. They announced that there was no emergency and it was something to do with some maintenance testing they were doing or something, but it took at least 10-15 minutes for the fire department to show up and turn the thing off. I was finishing up paying when it finally went off, and everyone around me cheered; over an hour later I still feel glazed from that constant BEEEEP - BEEEEEP - BEEEEP - BEEEEP.

Can I please take a nap now?

This isn't true. I've had a tempurpedic for eight years and there's no imprint or even anything similar. Love mine, would definitely get another one if this one ever dies.

I don't expect pats on the back or "attagirl" type comments but I find it extraordinarily rude to not respond at all when someone spends a lot of time performing a service for you gratis. And I mean respond via pm, not publicly. I can kind of understand if you don't like the service performed and you want to politely ignore it like ignoring the stench when someone accidentally farts in your vicinity but for christsake, I can't improve something if you don't tell me what needs improving. Jesus. Use your words. The three people this is directed at had no problem sending me pms when I was asking for input on the project so what the fuck.

Having no feelings and not getting offended makes you so cool!!!!

What Tisket meant to say is she puts her heart and soul into her art and her heart and soul was completely broken by you ignoring her art ( random anonymous person soon to be identified and roasted publicly). Deep breath. Also since she is only good at art and doggystyle you are effectively mentally abusing a retarded person withouts its consent and I can probably find an international law for this somewhere and have you detained. Serious face. If she pays me. And admits she has feelings.

I have a genuine desire to make the portraits match the owners personal vision of a character that they have, in many cases, played for many years. If someone does not give me feedback I am left wondering if they are feeling dissatisfied with the result but afraid for some reason to mention it to me. As anyone who has had a portrait and critiqued it honestly to me can vouch, I do not get upset when something I've made isn't right in the owners eyes. I try to make suggested changes and, if I am unable to do so, it gives me a chance to reassure them that I will do so when and if I am able.

I find compliments and "attagirl" type comments a little embarrassing frankly. My post had nothing to do with eliciting more of that kind. Latrinsorm keeps making those comments only because he likes to make me squirm uncomfortably.

Anyway, rojo, I understand exactly where you are coming from in your feeble attempts to bait me. I know I've bruised your fragile ego many times but, since I appreciate the chance to clarify my earlier post, I'll not respond in kind. This time.

You may not believe this, but ANOTHER Carnival cruise ship is having issues.

The fourth in a month!

This time, it's the Carnival Legend. Technical problems are affecting its sailing speed in the Caribbean. So Carnival says it's skipping its Grand Cayman stop and heading slowly back to Tampa.

It's only been a month since the Triumph (http://www.hlntv.com/video/2013/02/14/carnival-cruise-health-concerns) spent 8 days without power, trapping thousands on board.

On Saturday, the Elation needed a tugboat to get into port due to steering problems. Then on Wednesday, the Dream (http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/03/14/carnival-cruise-ship-problem-carnival-dream) got stuck in St. Maarten.

Carnival says it's offering refunds and discounts to passengers on both the Legend and the Dream. People on the Dream are being flown home starting this morning. The company said it only makes sense and that it's arranging charter and commercialflights to Orlando (http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/03/15/wait-what-another-carnival-cruise-breakdown#) or their final destinations.

Carnival also downplayed reports of overflowing toilets on the Dream.

I don't know.. I'm no fan of Carnival.. but my hope is that 4 breakdowns in a month is a really REALLY bad string of luck and not a systemic problem of old ships that aren't being taken care of.

Might be too late for all the families involved to change their plans... but maybe we will get a discount if we say we are concerned..

And we're all looking into travel insurance.

I just got back from a little over a week long cruise with Norwegian. In every port we were docked next to the Dream and pretty much everyone from our ship and the Disney ship that was our other sister ship said she didn't look so good. Most ships on port days do a shit ton of maintenance including rust removal, etc and you just did not see that on the Carnival ship and a lot of people who were on board complained about it (plumbing especially). They skipped Nassau because the Dream was having issues even getting into port despite very calm water. Lots of pissed off people because there's some pretty expensive excursions on the island (Atlantis and all) and they wouldn't even anchor in the harbor and let people tender to shore. I talked to a few crew members who had been crew on other cruise lines who all said that NCL and a few other cruise lines (like Celebrity) are very careful to dry dock their ships for at least a total of 1 month out of the year combined (usually it's one to two weeks at a time) to do heavy maintenance on them. Carnival apparently does not do that and hasn't had any issues only using dry dock for "emergency" situations, but now it's coming back to bite them in the ass hard core.

I wish you luck PB but I'd definitely advise you guys to opt for the travel insurance. Even on these busted cruises their "consolations" are super shitty and I know if I took time off for a 7 day cruise that broke down half way through, a free 3 day cruise would not be enough to make up for it.

Jury duty. This place is like the Mos Eisley cantina, some dude is vaporizing and the lady keeps freaking out that he's smoking. No one speaks English and 1980's Diane Sawyer is hosting a movie with full period costumes showing us what humanity did before juries (hold people's hands in boiling water--if it healed, not guilty).

Let me get out my tiny violin and play it for you.

Excuse me, I need to talk about my job for a minute (which is all I do, of course), but I would rather have an intelligent person on the jury. Then maybe someone would understand the concept of a burden of proof. Or maybe they would understand that you're not supposed to use a mathematical calculation to determine damages. My surgeon called this prescription the "extra strength" version of what she would normally give someone. 7.5 mg hydrocodone, 325 mg acetaminophen. It's decent at keeping me from feeling most of the pain, but that's about it. I've never had an opioid before, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I don't see how people get any enjoyment out of abusing this stuff.

I was given 5-500s for my oral surgery in January... but I was taking 2 every 4 hours. I think I slept for like 3 days straight almost, haha. I still have like 20 left over because my doctor's office accidentally gave me a second prescription for them. I used to eat these for fun in my early 20s. Now they just make me sleepy and dopey. And a little nauseous if I don't eat anything with them.

It was for me. In the past I abused a fairly decent variety of pharmaceuticals, but the first time I quit everything was weed, vicodin, and a large bottle of jaeger. The night did not end well. I don't think I drank or smoked for like three years after that.

Ugh. So I received an email today from the assistant vice principle of my child's school, saying my child is being punished for telling a story to a couple other student's about a teacher. Granted it wasn't a nice story, and it was in a joking manner...but it was OUTSIDE of school. One of the kids decided to tell that certain teacher what was said because he assumed it was true. Yeah okay...sounds like a little rat to me. Anyway, the teacher is angry and now there will be some kind of consequence for my child after spring break. I had a talk with my daughter telling her it's not cool to talk about anyone like that, and how would she feel if someone did the same about her...rumors and all...but goddamn. Is it really right to punish a kid for something said at a friend's house, and then told by a little tattle tail? I don't recall this shit ever happening back when I went to school.

Depends how old the kid is- he could just be socially moronic. As a child I had a tendency to repeat things I wasn't supposed to by simply not realizing I wasn't supposed to repeat them. Still, if his peers throw him a few beatings, he'll learn.

First, I don't agree with what the school did here.

Second, saying something to only ONE other person can be grounds for a defamation claim, so untrue gossip affecting a teacher's reputation (even if only said to a group of friends) could be a big deal. What if it was a male teacher and she called him a pedophile? Sounds like fun, right?

This school thinks that they are the shizzit. They think they are the best in the county and bullshit bullshit bullshit. I guess that they pretty much rule the kid's lives outside of school too, as much as inside of school. I'd like to know why they think that punishing a good student who has had no other issues, good grades, who is talented and happy over something that wasn't said on school grounds, or overheard by a staff member for that matter is okay. Best course here is to say your daughter never said it, the other kid made it up now have the other kid and the school prove it otherwise.

She already admitted to it. She's that type of kid. She is honest and owns up to things. She told me everything she said as well, knowing I'd probably be upset with her.
