The United States has been majority Democrats since the 30s. The only reason Republicans win anything is due to the electoral college and gerrymandering.

The electoral college gives more weight to rural voters than urban and that's fucking bullshit. I would go so far as to say it's the reason our politics are so messed up. Unequal representation messes with the very foundation of democracy. Because of that things don't make any sense. The majority does not truly rule.
