Or did they decide to throw some WoW into it and there are now raid bosses that require 25 people to take down yet only 3 pieces of loot drop and you have to wait until the next week for another crack at it?

Level cap is 13 right now so it's hard to tell. Right now it's lots of smashing shit and watching the bodies fly - like a proper game should be.

For anyone in the beta I recommend using one of the gamma injectors, the increase in sharpness and the darker colors makes it look much better.

It makes me terribly sad, I understand and actually appreciate that it means they don't have obtrusive DRM, but damn, I want latency free gaming w/ my friends and excuses to lug around a massive desktop.

I think there are some lore videos on youtube (basically all the cut scenes) ... there's also lore in a minute but that won't really cover it.

The lore isn't important, but Diablo actually has a pretty cool story going along with it, you don't need to play I or II to play III, but as atlanteax said, II will give you a solid idea what you're in for gameplay wise.

For anyone who can't wait and can manage to get a beta invite, there's a really sweet Diablo "clone" called Path of Exile, it's going to be free to play, but it's in closed beta right now (You can pre-order support tokens or whatever their version of fluff buying coins are, that gets you a beta invite, I got mine via the lottery they have). The game is pretty damn fun and very well done for a small company, and the passive skill tree is just fucking absurd.

I could have sworn I read that the real life auctions were going to charge you a fee whether the item you auction sells or not then an additional fee if the item does sell. However the guide I read on their website today just mentions a 1$ or 15% fee (depending on the type of item auctioned) only if the items sells.

Diablo 2 just seemed to have much more going for it, you got to select your stats, you got to level up your skills, you got items that made your skills more powerful and yadda yadda yadda. Now it's really all about just getting a more and more powerful weapon. Also taking the leveling grind out kind of sucks too, I actually liked that aspect of Diablo 2.

I'm sure I'll still play it a lot though.

Yeah, Demon Hunters are pretty fucking awesome. That rapid fire ability leaves party members spinning in circles trying to find something to kill before I can target it. They removed ammo by the way.

Still haven't seen a witch doctor in multiplayer though after several hours.

17 demon hunter here. I'm having a lot of fun when I can actually play. I agree the fewer skills at low levels is a bit meh, but I'm really intrigued by the possibilities at high levels and being able to swap them around at will.

Compared to other areas.. how aggressive are the graphics in the areas I've been through?

Basically, I'm trying to assess if Diablo 3 is a system buying game.. and I'm quite surprised to see that it's actually playable on what I got (at least so far).

Act 2 is definitely a big jump in difficulty at first, I expect act 3 will be too. Still haven't gotten there, group of 4 mid 20's got smoked three times trying to beat the act 2 boss.

To get to Act 2 on my first character (a demon hunter) took me 4 hours... Where doing it through a group took about 1.5 hours. Now, granted I did explore every single nook and cranny the first time through and with the group we just ran it as quick as possible, but it certainly felt like leveling was much quicker.

I like how the blacksmith levels up with your account, not with your character. So you always have access to decent items for new characters.

Also, how cool was that Act 2 cutscene?

It gives you access to the DIABLO 3 STARTER EDITION which has limitations (I didn't pay attention to what they are.. I definitely feel like I'm getting a feel for Diablo 3 so who cares what the limitations are in that sense).

If it's anything like Diablo 2 was you have to complete the difficulties in order. I guess they might have changed it in D3 though.

You'll die more often so the experience gains might not be beneficial if you attempt it too early.

cant do inferno until 60, and there is no boss farming since the chance to drop rares goes down to like .002% after the first time you kill one.
farming will be done on champion and rare mobs.

You cant see each others loot in co-op, plus 99.99% of the shit that drops seems to be only useful as disenchanting fodder so I dont think anyone would want any of the green bullshit I find with strength on it anyway. Even if it has decent stats it always has wasted bullshit on it like thorns 3, only the rares seem to be itemized even remotely close to optimal.

My main beef with wizard is that the spell animations are so slow in co-op with 4 people it can feel like you are doing absolutely nothing. Cast a bunch of arcane orbs, by the time it gets there the mobs are all dead. Kind of feels a little clunky in co-op like your damage is disconnected from what your doing.

I'm still poking about with the starter pack until I know for sure if I'm registering for summer classes, monday is the deadline. Crafting seems really cool and it's linked between all of your characters.

Yeah, the blacksmith stays the same level on new characters, so you can craft badass gear for an alt from the get go. It makes the replay on a new toon that much easier, especially if you want to start on hell with the new toon.

Still playing the Starter Edition, not sure yet if I wish to purchase it fully since I don't even have a gaming rig anymore, so I've been playing it on my cheapo laptop.

Crafting and the stash is also nice since it's both shared now. So kudos for them doing that for sure.

I may purchase the full version, after I try out each profession and try to fine tune my FPS some more. As of right now literally everything is set to low and it makes me a sad panda since I used to have a nice rig.

I read somewhere that for monks at least, they alternate hands when they dual wield. So you kinda wanna keep the weapons close in dps or you could go for a finishing type move with the shitty offhand. I just went with a staff and still kick ass.

I keep the Templar out for his taunt and heals (since mages are sadly lacking in heal buttons). His dps is abysmal, but he keeps things off my back often enough to be worth it.

In other news, get a whole bunch of mobs together. Add diamond skin (with glyph to double it) + explosive blast, then wave of force = amazing amounts of sexy. Pretty much the only thing to survive is the one big mob out of the pack - who is now blown away from you and stunned. Ice beam him to death before he shakes it off and runs back to you, collect loot.
