http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/3387-Blizzard-closes-down-Diablo-3-Auction-House
When we initially designed and implemented the auction houses, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades. But as we've mentioned on different occasions, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot. With that in mind, we want to let everyone know that we've decided to remove the gold and real-money auction house system from Diablo III.
Wait wait wait... Blizzard is listening to the dedicated players?!?
This seems like a good move in preparing the game for a 'fresh start' with the eventual expansion.
-1 for Activision Greed, +1 for GamePlay
In the meantime, I wonder if we will learn how much $$ the RMAH earned for Activision Greed, and if there were players who were able to 'make a living' off the RHMAH.
Further, I had the impression that some form of RMAH was intended for SC2, with the map-based workshop system (players whose maps were heavily downloaded would make a little $$, with Blizzard getting the rest), but that got scrapped long ago (as no additional $$ are involved, as far as I last knew). Someone who plays SC2 heavily probably could shed light on this.

Oh, I just had a conspiracy theory thought ... what if this move was more about reducing server-related expenses on Blizzard/Activision's part ... where cost has recently been exceeding the $$ revenue from the RMAH.
With this announcement making a significant portion of the player-base happy (particularly the purists), it comes off as a win-win ... that could had been planned all along?
Then again, it could just simply be a PR move to support sales of the Expansion once it is out.

Fired up El Diablo a couple days ago expecting 2.0 to have been live for a while now... it wasn't. However, a day or two later they actually released it. So far I'm diggin it. The loot and paragon changes are pretty good, as well as the difficulty options (no longer level-based normal, hell, inferno, whatever they were; pick a difficulty, mobs are level appropriate, and you can change difficulties whenever joo want). Within an hour or so I found my first D3 set piece and a legendary while messing around on the Witch Doctor. Since then, I started leveling the wizard and from 8-35 I've found 5-6 legendaries. Most of'em aren't anything too special, but the amulet I found has a pretty kickass proc that I'd like to find on a higher level piece. The proc has a chance to put four charges on me when I hit something nearby (including destructibles) that cause an explosion when mobs get near me. May not be the greatest of items, but it's pretty fun either way.
TLDR; time to give Diablo 3 another run.

Ok... interesting changes...
And holy crap at inflation on the AH! I bought a windforce for 150k before I stopped playing last time, and now they're selling for 150m.
With a Blizzard expansion imminent, I may sell everything I can on AH, and then just use lolDrops to hold me over til the new cap. Since if they're true to every WOW expansion ever, the level 61 white items will be equivalent to level 60 legendary.

I noticed that too when I played again for a little bit a few months ago. I read up on it and apparently for a while there was a way to dupe gold on the AH. Something like you could put gold up for sale on the AH then cancel the auction and you would get your gold yet the gold was still up for auction so you could cancel it again. Something like that I dunno.
So of course players duped trillions of gold and sold a lot of it for real money before Blizzard noticed the bug and fixed it.
The first thing Blizzard did was roll back the servers to before the point where everyone started duping gold and they refunded everyone's real money who had bought duped gold.
LOL! Naww just kidding about that last sentence. Blizzard said "Hey thanks for the transaction fees, enjoy your duped gold that is basically worthless now."

It's a combination of duping, having no real gold sinks, and the upcoming removal of the entire AH which is causing so much inflation.

They're both getting scrapped. Kind of sucks about the gold duping, but whatever. I wondered how people ended up with so much considering I've only got around 1.5M. Granted I haven't played near as much as some (massive paragon level 8 and one lvl 60!), I'm sure, but 150M for a single item seems pretty steep.

Wow, this thread sparked my interest enough to go read the patch notes. Seems crazy how much they changed some of the skills, at least for the Barbarian. Weapon dmg going from 180% to 600+% in some cases. Is the game just easy now, or is it just more forgiving in build/gear?
I ground the crap out of the game, and beat inferno fairly early. I can't say it was fun at the time, but DII got it's hooks in me deep enough I still get cravings. May be re-installing this tonight

Before they nerfed Inferno I couldn't even get half way through act 3. A few months ago I was playing again and I killed Diablo on Inferno fairly easily, with the same gear as I had before I quit.
I haven't played recently with all of these changes to drop rates and what not but I just couldn't get back in the game. I played for about a week and the paragon levels were fun for a while but I dunno. I think I miss the 8 player co-op teams bringing down Baal in D2.
Now it's just 4 players max and people don't really seem to want to play in multiplayer games anymore, it's more of a single player game now and I never liked Diablo as a single player game.

Good thing they're adding a class in the expansion. Another class I can leave out.

I only got up to Ghom on Inferno before the enrage timer told me my gear sucked balls and I haven't tried it yet in 2.0, but will be doing that shortly. My wizard was level 8 when I started up again recently, but I hit 50 last night after killing Diablo on master. So far I've just been increasing difficulty levels as I get better gear and for the most part nothing has been too difficult. I did manage to die a couple times last night in Act IV thanks to a pack of mobs- the incinerators or whatever they are that leave fire patches and the demons that shoot fireballs that track you- coupled with elites with a rough combo of jailer/electrical storm.
I'm guessing if I start back in Act I or II, the first level of inferno won't be too bad, so I'm anticipating trying two or three unless I get whooped early. I'd hope the 5th or 6th (not sure how many there are exactly) level of inferno would be challenging for people with top-level gear, though.
Before they nerfed Inferno I couldn't even get half way through act 3. A few months ago I was playing again and I killed Diablo on Inferno fairly easily, with the same gear as I had before I quit.

Paragon levels before weren't so special. Sure, the passive benefit wasn't bad, but now they're account-wide and you can choose benefits from four categories (sort of a round-robin with each level granting a point in one category, then the next) on each character. They can also be changed if you want to mix things up. Probably a pretty nice benefit for people with a high paragon level wanting to start a new character. I only had 8 when I got back into the wizard, so wasn't a big effect for me, though it's better than nothing I guess.

I decided to give the game another go tonight. I gotta admit it's a gajillion times better than it was even just a few months ago. The changes to the skills are awesome. Paragon levels are even more awesome now. The new loot system. It's all gosh dang awesome.
I don't know how long I'll end up playing this time around. I wish this was how the game was released originally instead of the steaming pile of shit they gave us.
I still don't like that we're limited to 4 players per game (pretty sure this is still true) and at this point it almost feels like too little, too late.
I'm having fun at the moment though.

I just put a 1.3k DPS windforce on the AH last night for like, 35m, because I picked up a 1.2k DPS one, and that's a shit ton of gold! But sadly, it's not HC.
For DH, I've been using the following build:
Entangling Shot w/ Lightning whatever
Rapid fire w/ homing missiles
Active 1: Smoke Screen w/ increased duration... because Survive.
Active 2: Caltraps w/ the crit rate booster
Active 3: Rain of arrows w/ the stun thingy
Active 4: Mark of death w/ Hatred Regen
For latents, I'm using:
Straight +bow damage
The missile damage + random missile launch on attack
Cull the weak, the +20 Damage against slow targets (thus the entangling shot / caltraps)
The damage is pretty much as glass cannon-y as a DH can get... But that's why there's Smoke Screen as your get-out-of-jail free card.
Open by dropping a caltrap, entangling shot once, mark of death, Rapid fire spamspamspam, since homing missiles is chance on hit, and you're firing 100000 times a sec, many missiles. Rotate in an entangling shot once in a while to keep it slowed, and then just run if they get to you, and the caltrap slow will take over. For groups/AoEing, that's why you have the death from above, or whatever it's called.
But realistically, my DH DPS sucks, I think on a caltrap, I'm only pushing like, 78k per the damage calculation on the character screen. While it's realistically a little better, I'm not pushing beyond T1
Wizards seem ridiculously overpowered by comparison.
I also love that paragon levels are per account, and I have a level 5 barbarian that's paragon 50 already. Makes leveling even more of a joke.

What's the latest awesome wizard build?
I've been using a Meteor/Diamond Skin/Spectral Blades/Frost Nova/Explosive Blastbuild for a while now. It's still rocks, but it looks like the skill that reduces all cooldowns by 1 second when you crit has been removed which makes it not quite as awesome but still awesome.
Also what's the best way to do farming runs? Hit Act IV from the beginning, or from a specific quest? Run pony level over and over? I'm way out of touch with this game.

I can ask the player of Riros for his wizard builds... he just managed to get a Stone of Jordan (still there in D3!), which added like, 21% ice damage... so his build is relatively flexible.
I know he uses archon, that little follower thingy, and like, mana shield/bubble/whatever. He loves crit damage, and relies heavily on Crit -> arcane power builds.
As far as farming goes, if you've completed the entire game, you have the ability to reset your quests. Upon resetting the quests, if you solo up through the Skeleton King (like, 3rd quest in Act 1), that boss has a Guaranteed Legendary drop. EVERYONE in the game needs to be active on that quest, and not have it completed. So, do it solo.
There's speculation that the quest reset function was supposed to guarantee a legendary drop from Diablo, and that it's a bug that it's actually the skeleton king, but, that hasn't been fixed.
In addition to the Act 1 drop, drop rates have been pretty much expanded everywhere. In addition, there's also been supposedly a 'safety net' implemented. The safety net guarantees to drop a legendary after 2 hours of active gameplay. There's some speculation whether or not that's functioning as intended, but that's the design.
But, in general... highest difficulty you can effectively clear quickly + questing through the game = win.

No speculation there. The GMs have said it wasn't fixed in time for 2.0, so I'd expect it to be fixed before long. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter though since you have to complete all the quests before you can reset anyway.

Unless I'm missing something, the slider is what sets your Torment level. There isn't another sub-setting to increase difficulty within the Torment levels.

I've actually been having more fun playing this game for the past week than I thought I would. It was fun getting all new upgrades after just playing for a few hours then after that finding a new upgrade every once in a while. Sure beat the old method of playing for days without seeing an upgrade.
But then it hit me last night; all of this loot finding is pretty pointless at the moment considering even the shittiest loot drop at level 70 is probably gonna be better than all of this loot at level 60.
I'll probably still playing a little bit before the expansion for the paragon levels but looking for loot upgrades seems like a waste of time at the moment with the expansion just a couple of weeks away.

My only problem with legendary ring drops is they seem more random than other drops when it comes to their stars being geared towards the character that found them.

If you feel like Tgo01 does... then you should join me in Ring Farming!
Because, if gear doesn't mean jack shit, that means all that matters is paragon levels, and eventual leveling-speed.
Basically... Key Farm. Use those keys to summon the Uber-bosses. Kill Uber-bosses for a chance at dropping their organs. Use the organ to summon a special battlefield where you fight all uber-bosses together. Those uber-bosses have a chance of dropping organs.
Use the organs to synth of those HellFire Rings, which have like +35% XP Gain, and other stats. Two Hellfire Rings + XP gem in your helm is basically like, a bajillion extra XP per kill. You'll be at Paragon level Whirlin and Hero Level 70 in like, 2 seconds after the patch hits in two weeks.

But they do it, because people keep paying for it. Remember the days of free expansions. lol (Eve Online is king of free expansions)

Pretty much. It got so bad that apparently Steam had to start telling "early access" developers that they have to continue making "reasonable progress" with their games before being allowed to sell a game with "early access."
That Prison Architect I think is the biggest joke on Steam early access. A lot of people seem to enjoy it but shit, they were charging like 40 dollars for an early access game that was basically just Prison Tycoon but with graphics from the early 80's.
I haven't checked in on Prison Architect lately but I'm pretty sure it's STILL in early access mode and it's been that way for close to 2 years now.

I'm personally holding off on the D3 expansion, and will wait until the reception of it is overwhelming positive.
Kinda sad in a way to go pre-ordering/Day-1 purchases of Blizzard games to "I'm gonna wait instead".
5 years ago, to me, that sort of hesitation would had been inconceivable when it came to Blizzard games.

Yeah. I told myself I was no longer going to pre order any Blizzard games after the fiasco with Diablo 3 and I stuck to that pledge with not even buying the expansion pack to Starcraft 2. But I dunno, I think the changes with Diablo 3 have been very very very positive and I'm actually having fun with the game now.
Someone help me! I've got a Blizzard addiction!

Yeah I'm kind of pissed at the way expansion packs are going lately. Heck I'm kind of pissed the way "early access" games are going on Steam as well. One game was charging 90 dollars for the luxury of beta testing their game for them.
Was that Wasteland? I think it's $60, but they kinda had to do it because one of their Kickstarter tiers was early access.

No I'm pretty sure it was the new Total Annihilation game. It was like 90 bucks at first in Alpha, dropped to like 80 in Beta and now it's down to like 60. But yes, I've only bought a few games alpha. One being Starbound (Highly Recommend to anyone that like Terraria style games), the other DAYZ (Played for 60 minutes and the shitty ass camera and FOV made me sick as shit). From now on I'm gonna wait for a release and a review. I bought Torchlight 2 on steam for 3 dollars during a sale and... if you like Diablo style games get TL2. I like it alot.

I'm not sure about Wasteland but Planetary Annihilation had a 90 dollar price tag for early access. Although they said they had to charge that price for the same reason because of Kickstart early access tiers.
I remember when Paragon levels were first introduced this was a great strategy for getting lots of experience. So I bought a socketed helm and put a ruby in it then checked my character sheet to see how much sweet bonus experience I am getting and it was at almost 800% increased experience on torment 2. Torment gives a lot of increased experience plus you get experience multipliers on top of that due to playing with other people.
I'd still be interested in key runs but it seems like an extra 20-100% bonus experience when you're already getting 1000% bonus experience isn't as awe inspiring :/

What's funny is that Prison Architect isn't even in beta, it's in alpha. I've been following it for over a year now and it looks the same as it did when I first added it to my wishlist.
Overall the way Steam has been handling early access is questionable, with them being featured on the front page and getting sales, coupons and cards made for them... but the game isn't even finished. There are a few early access games out there that are already working on DLC for their non-released game.

Yep, but they got them disclaimers bro! I assume at some point there will be public outcry against the 9/10 shitty early access games released. Where 2/10 actually make it to release, and .05/10 are actually decent. I support Starbound, but fuck you character wipes!

I'm gonna hold off a little bit as well. Partly because I don't really have the 40 bucks to throw at it right now and partly because it just seems prudent at this point. I pre-ordered Diablo 3 and that ended up sitting on the shelf for a long time.

I think she basically meant its a lot more loot pinata like, pretty much how WoW has become over the last couple expansions.

My barbarian was pretty well geared by Hell standards pre-patch got a bunch of upgrades in the first couple hours playing him. But yeah, I'm definitely going to wait until the expansion hits before playing more. I sort of want to make the crusader my main character and I don't want to burn out beforehand.
It's probably been close to a year since I played last... but my barbarian was fairly well geared, completed Act 2 in Inferno, farmed Act 1 easily. But upon playing on *normal* difficulty since I started a few days ago I've already replaced most of his gear.
I think that was my major disappointment with D3 overall. Useable gear was way too few and far between, and it was a necessity to play the AH. I'm happy with how the game is now, and I think I'll be even more happy when the AH and RMAH are shut down.

I've considered picking up the expansion, but I can't get over the fact that I already paid $60 for a shitty game that FINALLY got fixed, and a matter of a few weeks later, I have to spend even more to continue playing new content. They should have made all of their fixes, let everyone who paid to play a kick ass Diablo game log at least SOME time, and then release an expansion. It just seems poorly timed to me. It's almost like I bought D3 simply to throw away, and now I'm forced to buy an expansion that, in reality, should have been the original game.

I'm obviously not forced to buy anything. What they released originally was shit. It's SO much better now, and now that it's finally working as intended, they're already releasing a paid expansion that cost nearly as much as the game itself. I just think it's poorly timed.
And don't get me wrong, the changes that just got patched in fixed almost every single issue I had with the original release. The game is actually fun to play now. And yes, I could just continue playing and not buy the expansion, but I hate playing not-current versions of games, and I would have loved more time to feel like I actually got to play the functional D3 before I dropped cash into new content.

I think you can manage to enjoy the game without buying the expansion really. Sure, you'll miss out on new 60+ legendaries, the Crusader class, 10 more levels/act V, and the enchanter, but on the flip side you've got plenty of time to play D3 the way it should have been from the start.

Everyone knows that and it has nothing to do with whether you can play and enjoy the game that you paid for today. Buy the expansion, don't buy the expansion. It's got as much to do with it as 'the point'.
Well this is a long thread, isn't it? I just stumbled on it.

Reason I have it on right click is because I spam spectral blades, which is on left click, a few times to build up some bonus damage from its rune and from Arcane Dynamo, then I burn all my mana on Wave of Force, rinse and repeat. When I'm not fapping, I'll toss out a Shockwave before Wave of Force. Pretty sick damage with SB's rune and Arcane Dynamo stacked.

For those that want to level quick, Act 2: Royal Audience is so fast. Just do the quest, and then after you run into the sewers just leave and reset. You get 3 bars for 2 1/2 mins. It scales with level so you can essentially get 1 lvl per 10 mins all the way to 60.

Blizz usually starts their patching at Midnight, Tuesday, West Coast Time. For major releases (at least for WOW... I assume D3 would follow suit), I've seen the games not come up until like, 3-6 PM EST.
Best to assume 15-18 hours for something major like this.
Blizzard patches are best compared to EA Launches. Best not to assume anything to be available the day of patching. 9/10, there's some emergency maintenance required on the newest patch. And if the patch is actually deployed timely and properly, assume the servers will crash with the wave of returners. Neither condition is mutually exclusive either. Sometimes you get those fun half day patch, half day server crash patch days!
Not something to take the day off for.

I did not consider D3 a loot pinata previously as you *generally* had to go to the gold-AH to get upgrades.
I define loot pinata as very easy to 'gear up' from 'drops'.

Are you implying that a loot pinata is a bad thing or am I reading too much into it? Getting better and better gear from drops is like the entire basis of the series.
But yeah, if that's your definition D3 is a loot pinata.

Because this game was gay as hell when loot pinata mode was disabled.

*Gradually* getting better gear was the basis of the Diablo series.
Compared to D2, it would seem that very powerful gear is dropping left and right presently in D3, which would fit what I refer to as 'loot pinata', as well as what Methais pointed out, D3 was definitely not a 'loot pinata' early on (you had to go to the AH).

Games are successful because they provide a positive feedback mechanism in response to duration played and effectiveness.
Diablo 3's main feedback mechanism is loot. It's simple as that. They attempted to include Paragon levels to have individuals feel as though they were accomplishing something in the dry time between loot drops, however, this not widely regarded as substantive enough to make up for the dry periods.
The new Diablo 3 loot system provides more positive feedback by having a contingency legendary drop after a certain duration of combat time. Furthermore, to reduce the feeling of negativity when you realize the item you picked up is an absolute piece of crap, they introduced the mystic system to allow the opportunity to re-randomize your gear while using the disenchanted legendary materials. So you have a secondary potential for reward on duration.
Every game has some sort of positive feedback system. Diablo 3 utilizes loot for their positive feedback. Gemstone has straight experience, training points, and skills. Final Fantasy 7 had experience, materia growth, etc. Humans strive for the instant feedback system, because we so rarely see returns like that in real life, which is why the gaming industry exists.

That's your perception of the relative power of the items that you're getting. While leveling, yes, I can agree that you do see massive outliers in strength of the drops.
However, at cap, there's a very large gap between an item that drops and top tier items that can be created via Mystic manipulation.

With the mystic that you unlock in Quest 4, Act 5, you have the ability to take a unique, or other magical item, and reroll particular aspects of the item.
I'll give an example:
I play a DH. I found a legendary bow that has roughly 2.2k DPS. HOWEVER, the bow does not have a socket. This makes me an INCREDIBLY sad panda, because I have such a high crit rate, that an open socket on a 1.9k DPS weapon where I can throw a +110% crit damage gem, ends up being like, 1000x as powerful as the higher base damage.
So, I take the new 2.2k legendary bow to the mystic. Putting it in the appraisal box, it'll take some mats and some silver, but I'm able to re-randomize one of the 6 conditions on the item. So instead of +10% additional gold, I can reroll that for a chance at getting it to re-randomize into a socket, or attack speed, or life on hit.
However, the cost in doing so requires 2 of the material that's created when you deconstruct Legendaries. They used to be feiry brimstones I think... but there's a whole new tier of crafting mats from 61+. So... those trash legendaries you pick up are now good to breakdown and get materials to use at the mystic.
So, I can keep rerolling on this single bow, until I don't have any "additional" properties, and instead, I have +Damage, +attack speed, +Life on hit, + Hatred regen, +Socket, and custom turn it into the best uber bow ever.

Fortunately, I just clocked a ton of time into PoE, so I can explain!
They're... different.
In PoE, your return on time is XP for a L O N G time... We're talking like, 100 hours to cap a single character.
In D3, you can cap a character in probably 5-10 hours.
In PoE, skills, sockets, links, etc. are the most important gear attributes. And you become locked to one particular build, which you tend to pre-determine prior to rolling up the character.
In D3, skills interchangable, which can change how your character is played. A lot of the time, this is dependent on the gear that you pick up.
D3's mystic system is somewhat similar to the orbs in PoE, but definitely more robust and mature in PoE, but simultaneously, a lot more random!
PoE is Free, Diablo costs $$$ upfront.
Diablo 3 'kinda' has an endgame, where you can farm up keys and fight 'uber' bosses. I'm not sure about PoE endgame.
They have their strengths and weaknesses. It all depends on your style, your money, and what you're after. If you like leveling up a single character once, and then exploring a game at cap, kinda similarly to WOW, then I'd recommend Diablo 3. If you like an endless grind, where if you want to make changes, you'd need to reroll, like Gemstone 3 was, then I'd recommend PoE.

You were right! Once you select a particular attribute to change, that's the only one you can change.
Most classes obtained group damage boosting abilities. Monks' aura, Sorcerers got a new latent, Hunters have their mark, Witch Doctors have their totem, Barbarians have shouts, and Crusaders have laws.
Sorcerers, in D3, were basically the drain on mechanics, and could pump out pure DPS by utilizing every other classes' buffs, but really not offering too much on their own. Now with the expansion, they are the ULTIMATE group player. Their new latent applies a damage taken debuff on creatures hit, that applies per element hit. Additionally, their new level 61 ability: Black Hole, will actually suck up elite group mechanics if you use the Event Horizon (I think) rune. So now sorcerers can destroy walls, suck up corruption, get rid of fire, lightning, poison, etc, while sucking all critters into a small area like a monk, without getting face rolled. They're the new group player!
Demon Hunters appear to be the new DPS winners, as the extent of their 'buff' could be the companion wolf howl, or hunter's mark. The new vengeance ability is simply... badass. I think I end up firing about 10-15 rapid fire shots per second, each of which doing 1-3m crits, but then up to 5m per hit when synergies are going. Ending with about 50m DPS... Even though my character sheet is just showing about 300k.
Growth is still pretty high. After about 2 days, I'm comfortably farming T1 with my static group. We could up it to T2/T3, but we just enjoy the fast kill speed, and don't value the rate of return to be worth it for the reduced kill speed for the increased drops/kill... Yet.
With the changes in grouping mechanics, and the synergies of damage boosting abilities by different classes, cooperative play is definitely the way to go to mindlessly slaughter the masses. Solo is increasingly difficult versus group play. If you (general PC crowd) want to group up sometime, reach out to me in game, and if we have a spot, we'll get you in.

There's a Unique DH Cloak which changes the property of your companion spell to have you summon 3 wolves rather than just 1.
My Wolves hit for about 700k-1m each attack of theirs, and the active ability of the wolves is a 10-20% damage buff to the group.
Overall, a decent cloak.
My Actives are now:... No idea their actual ability names

Wolves
Hunter's Mark
Vengeance (which I've deemed "god mode")
Left Mouse: Frag Grenade
Right Mouse: Rapid Fire Grenade

Now that the mystic is released, it's all about recognizing potential in items!
Pretty much since hitting 70, I think I've upgraded my bow about 5 times. I started off with a 2.1k DPS bow. Then I mystic'ed in a socket. Then I found a 2.2k dps bow, mystic'ed a socket, now a 2.4k dps bow, mystic'ed a socket.
As far as balancing survivability and overall damage, my friend gave me some good advice.
Shoulders/Chest/Belt/Boots should be purely defensive. Ensure that all of these pieces have VIT, Resist All, and probably also your prime stat. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.
Gloves/Bracers should be extensions of your weapon: purely offensive. Gloves/Bracers are the only pieces that can have crit rate/attack speed, and bracers can even have crit damage. If you can also stack a +damage mod on your bracers, that's even better.
Head, you want Crit rate, VIT, and prime stat, and ideally a socket. Where this may become skewed is if your class/build has a head mod for damage.
Ring/Amulet... subjective!

Elemental and skill boosts are multiplicative and will make or break you, but they don't show up on your sheet.. I rock a disintegrate build so I stacked arcane and disintegrate buffs. Add in a high crit rate, high crit damage, a Triumverate, and Tal Rasha's dropping up to 12 meteors it adds up fast.

I finally got to 70 (monk) on HC with out D/C and dying! It is going to take a while to gear up my Monk I think, I kill things so slowly even on normal. I am at 160k 4m I think.
I used the mystic and got that 9% crit on the amulet. I dropped quite a bit of toughness for damage on my Wizard.

There's a 50% community XP buff in place through patch day Tuesday. I decided to spend the weekend leveling as much as possible!
I got my Barbarian and Monk from 60 to 70, which now places me at DH, Sorceress, Crusader, Barbarian, and Monk all at 70, with 99 Paragon levels. And got a Witch Doctor to 30ish... If I finish that off, I can trash all that level 60 or lower crap from my stash!
I also managed to upgrade my DH's necklace and Gloves... upgrades for him are few and far between, so anything is nice.
Once I finish up the witch doctor, I can write up my review on the classes. However, I believe a MUCH NEEDED full crusader overhaul is going to be occurring on Tuesday.

Goobiez. There's a public community group that you can search for (hit O in game to bring up the social panel for clan/community). Although, communities suck, and don't have a chat function like clans do.
Crusaders are currently weak, very weak. They can have ridiculous survivability due to the shield use, and some strong defensive talents, however, they can't deal damage worth a damn. One example of how their abilities don't really work in their favor is their 2H as 1H talent which also has -15% max movement speed. Since the class is relatively close ranged, they need to get out of fire/effects quite often. Maneuvering is a heavy DPS loss, and maneuvering more slowly means more DPS lost. This DPS lost is realized both as time out of combat while moving to the next group, and while evading effects such as Frozen and Arcane enchanted mobs.
They end up suffering from the level 60 barbarian syndrome, where their wrath generators do terrible damage. However, their wrath expenditures do not have as high of damage factors as barbarian rage expenditures. So like, Barbs may use 30 rage to do 300% AoE weapon damage on an attack, Crusaders spend 30 wrath on like, 250% single target weapon damage. The maths just don't add up.

Ok... I've completed all classes to level 70... Here are my assessments. Please pardon any spelling/grammar/whatnot errors... I just had a septoplasty today, and am high on painkillers.
Barbarian
Barbarians are alright. Whirlwind is a great way to deal damage without being restricted by swinging animations, with the ability to use it as a rage generator, you can find yourself on rage equilibrium spamming it. With some quick goggling, you can find haste breakpoints for additional swings based on total attack speed. But it works great with a 2H.
Barbarian rage spenders are a little weaker than to be desired. They're decent, but VERY gear dependent, and you're not going to be incredibly powerful when you first hit 70. There are a lot of different ways you can go about gearing one up, but all in all, they're alright. They're nothing to write home about, but I've seen some extraordinarily well geared ones do some impressive damage.
Barbarians also do get the -damage taken buff, along with monks, making them great tanks, once they're geared up.
Crusaders are difficult to gear properly. I've recently found that finding a weapon with HOLY damage type on it as the additional damage, makes it MUCH stronger than even a comparable weapon with +100 fire or other typed damage, because of the properties of the Crusader passive. This GREATLY restricts the speed at which it can gear it.
Crusaders can also use 2Hs as 1H... which is a nice option, however, the cost of -15% movement speed hurts, a lot. This basically makes you required to take the horse active skill to be able to stay in combat more often. Anecdotally, I've seen a substantially higher drop rate when I do more damage in a partying scenario. If I'm late to combat, my drops tend to be weaker, while other party members can end up with 2 Legendaries. Insubstantial with solo play.
Crusaders are by far the most ridiculous tanks ever with a shield. Paired up with something like Thundergod's vigor, which deals weapon damage on block, you can actually make a decent defensively offensive build.
Crusaders' wrath spenders aren't quite up to what Barbs' rage spenders are. They have some powerful cooldown attacks, but they tend to have high cooldowns, for relatively low damage.
To be an effective crusader DPS, you need to ensure each time you're in combat, you're burning at least 1 cooldown for each time you attack a group. Which can be difficult in quick, successive battles.
Overall though, I think Barb is slightly ahead.
Demon hunters are the most glass-cannon class in the game at the moment. Many DHs use Cluster Arrow as their main hatred expenditure, personally, I have a ton of Rapid Fire damage gear. To give you an idea, I fire off rapid fire grenades about 10 a second, each one dealing 2-3m without damage debuffs, and I can channel for about 30 seconds straight. Cluster arrow is an AMAZING alternative, but it's about 40 hatred per shot, so it tends to lead towards more reliance on your hatred generator for damage... It's a bit subjective, but both are strong.
Monks are amazing. Monks and Barbarians both get -30% damage taken, and monks become amazing tanks as a result. Their auras and their ability to black-hole draw-in make for AMAZING grouping mechanics and everything. Their exploding palm definitely changes dynamics to where you kill one critter, they're all dead. Of the three melee classes, Monks are by far #1 above Both barbarian and crusaders, in my opinion.
Sorcerers got nerfed slightly in the latest patch, and their main abilities hurt. However, Sorcerers' strength is their ability to auto-apply damage taken debuffs on critters they're fighting. However, this comes at the expense of specialization in a particular element. Furthermore, Event Horizon with Black Hole will actually nerf elite packs MASSIVELY by sucking up poison, desecration, magma, even the immediate cold things. I consider Sorcerers to be one of the strongest group hunters at the moment due to their assistance to everyone else in the group. They also have a lot of damage reducers available, and because INT applies directly to resists, they're very beefy. Their damage output themselves aren't the most powerful anymore, but it's not bad. I would put them on par with Monks for damage output.
Witch Doctors are interesting, and there's a lot of different ways to play them. Personally, I've been playing my WD by applying DoTs. And I have to say, I'm impressed with how much the DoTs hurt. They're surprisingly effective. With minimal work post 70, my DoTs are doing about 3m crits, while I have a pack of dogs attacking, and am using poison dart for about 700k-1m. I've found a majority of their abilities to be very AoE-centric, but their single-target options lacking. It's REALLY difficult to compare the DoTs with pure damage output, but I would actually consider WDs to be second to DHs in terms of damage. However, likely below Monks/Sorcs for single target DPS.

Patch 2.0.5 is good, but also brought some bugs. (They are fixing some issues as we speak)
Another thing, that I am guilty on doing for roughly 9 hours or so last night was opening up T6 level 1 rifts, and clearing them as level 70 for 5minute bloodshard runs that netted in about 100 per...So in roughly 30mins you'd have max shards to gamble with.
On top of that, now that Kadala can gamble class set pieces etc, I already had found 3 pieces of Zunni's for my one WD, along with another piece of Jade Harvester while my buddy finished up his barb set and so forth.
The tears are huge, and I am interested to see what happens once the servers are back up from maintenance.
