Free = no cost. The only way you don't pay your bill at all is by declaring bankruptcy. That obviously imposes a cost on you by ruining your credit score. If you don't declare bankruptcy but don't pay your bill, then in many states, the hospital can file an action to garnish your wages. (I definitely know they can do it in Texas)
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
Anyway, out of the 6 points I listed, that's the only one you guys can argue with?
Fun fact, did you know if you declare bankruptcy that your home loan is written off too?
I never knew that before a couple of years ago, I thought you couldn't write your home loan off.
You can literally write off everything except for student loan debt, and you can even write that off in some circumstances :O
Why does anyone pay their bills?!
Because you won't get another decent loan or credit cards or a cell phone plan or any of that shit for a looooong time. Sure, they'll have high interest rate stuff out for just about anyone, but anything requiring a credit check? Like an apartment? Yeah, you are generally fucked for years.
