Aside from Egyptian excavation sites regularly being full of snakes (during certain seasons), that line is just about the only accurate thing about Archaeology from Indiana Jones. That doesn't stop it from being totally badass in every way, and is still the inspiration for somewhere approaching 100% of Anthropologists to get into Anthropology, but it's a very important quote!Originally Posted by Methais
Edit to add: Not that you asked, but something along that line is why I got interested in the first place. The museum bit, not the Indiana Jones bit (though that's there obviously). My stepfather used to use me as labor and mosquito bait to dig for him out at a Lenape site in New Jersey when I was 8 or 9. We found all sorts of things, which was hugely awesome in itself, but afterwards, he'd just store it all away in a locked box in his gun closet. And there they stayed and probably are still. It bothered me even at that age that nobody else got to see the things (mostly arrowheads and pottery shards). They belong in a museum.
