I wonder how long democrats will consider Hispanics from Virginia as white supremacists after getting pwned in that election.

Racists such as Seran and time4fun: My party is the party POC choose! POC such as Hispanics, blacks, and Asians! Therefore we can't be racist!!!
Also racists such as Seran and time4fun after a majority of Hispanics vote Republican: Hispanics are all just a bunch of white supremacists anyways!!!
I hope some day a majority of Asians vote for the Republican candidate so racist Democrats will also call Asians white supremacists.
According to racist Democrats white supremacy is more diverse than almost any other institution.
Inflation is 6.2% higher now than it was a year ago.
To put that into perspective, if someone is earning 2400 dollars a month that income is effectively only worth 2250 dollars today than it was compared to a year ago. Basically Joe Biden is costing this person 150 dollars a year. Not through tax increases (although that's coming too), but no, just the simple fact that he's such a shit president that your money is now worth much less today than it was a year ago.
150 bucks a month is 1800 dollars a year. Middle income and low income people can do a lot with 1800 dollars. But hey, as long as he's not Orange man right?
Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that this is the highest increase to inflation since 1981. Yes even during the economic boom of Bush W's last years in office when gas prices were increasing because of the booming global economy the inflation still never even came close to what Biden managed to fuck up in under a year.
So, Seran and everyone else who fucked up by voting for this ghoul, when are you going to make this right and start giving people money that you literally robbed them of because of your vote? I'm sure that's right after you make things right with the hundreds of Afghans that Biden got murdered and injured and the dozens of US military members that he got killed and injured.

“So it's easy to criticize [me], but they're really criticizing science because I represent science,” Fauci said.
The Democrat party is such a mess. First they defended the murderer governor of NY because they hated Trump so much and they defend Fauci so much that he gets a lot of air time to inflate his already huge ego to the point where he says he is science. Maybe in a year or two Democrats will finally fully pull their heads out of their asses and Fauci will be facing prison time too like he deserves.
Context matters. Here's what he said before that quote:

I feel like anyone with children already should have known this. We took our kid out of remote and went homeschool last year because a 1st grader cannot stay engaged to what was essentially a telecon. What our school considered "remote learning" was a half hour check in every day with occasional story time and no formal teaching. All "lessons" were just youtube videos of how to do math or how to read but very little to no formal instruction from the teachers themselves. There work sheets were all adobe PDF or similar type documents and despite the technology shift most 1st graders are not versed in using a laptop and programs within it. I don't fault the teachers since it was thrust upon them but our school had no capacity to handle this transition and it did not seem like they wanted to attempt to solve the problem. I would imagine most schools were the same.
Yeah we are homeschooling again this year and then going back to school brick and mortar style next year because of how clusterfuckerly? it was last year. This year was in flux with what was going to happen and homeschool went fine last year. But we live in a rural area and socialization is minimal so we want them back in school (though this year there are actually like art classes, gym classes and activities that didn't exist last year making socialization better).
The virtual learning was fucking stupid. I watched the kindergarten zoom stuff and it was really just an hour of the teacher saying hi and then reading a book for 10 minutes and then saying bye. Regular school reopened for the next year, so yeah, I put them right the fuck back in there. My wife and I don't have time to homeschool.

One of my best data visualization analysts spawned his second child back in September. I gave him paid time off... 12 weeks for paternity leave (which is such a complete fucking joke his wife was back at work after 6 weeks). That aside, he's good people, but young. First 3 meetings I have with him coming back, literally grind to a halt in all three.
Why you ask? Because he two dreamkillers, Mika and Samson, his 3 month old and 2 year old, are going apeshit in the background. I had to have a meeting with him on the fourth day, and be like "bro I get it, you are 27 and have two new "bundles of joy". I don't GAF about that though, so can you come to meetings prepared, without children, so we can all work together for what I'm paying you 120k to do? If I hear a baby screaming in my sprint review, I'm going to loose my shit. I just expect him to be able to work during his scheduled work hours.
I'm a monster, I know. I also told the dude who's father just died that it'd been two weeks, corp policy is 5 days bereavement. I gave him two weeks. And he missed his first day back without any communication, other than at 3AM the day after that baby had a bad day. I told him fine, here's the deal - I'm a major advocate for work life balance... but for that to work, you have to communicate to me the days you need off and I will unequivocally give them to you. But you have to plan.
So sick of the feels. Father is dead in the ground two weeks, you can come back to work and not need your ass wiped every 3 minutes. Real life interferes, your fucking amazing boss said just let me know in advance and I'll clear the runway for you. But if you don't, you are fucking everyone in the equation.

I guess anyone that kills a woman now, and her unborn baby, can only be charged with the mother's then? Or is it only a mother that can kill their own baby without recourse...
These people are fucking sick. Our country should be ashamed.
That's how it is in NY now. A man can literally beat a pregnant woman's stomach with a baseball bat and kill her unborn child and the only crime he will be charged with is assaulting the woman. Because you know, NY cares about women having a choice in whether or not they want to give birth.
There has already been at least one case like I described above in NY since Democrats in the state changed the law in regards to killing unborn children.

I don't know anyone outside of people in Illinois who had ever heard of Obama prior to his run. There are a ton of articles that speak to the fact that he as unknown by almost everyone prior to his run.
You did call it in 2004 though.
But if you go through that thread, a lot of people were saying they don't know shit about him.

Also, that thread is kinda funny reading over it well after the fact. They all thought McCain would absolutely destroy Obama because he was.. Well, unknown and unexperienced.
Biden hosts Manchin and Sinema at White House to push for voting rights reform

I wonder how that meeting was set up. "Hey, can you racist segregationist please come down and not be a racist segregationist and vote on my bill?"
Republican governor's are basically trying to give our country it's very own Apartheid by adding restrictions to voting. Voter identification, in-person voting requirements where voting centers are hours long drives away, absentee voting restrictions. People of color are much more likely to have suspended licenses due to fines or criminal penalties, preventing renewal of a valid ID for voting. Same goes with forcing inner city precincts to be far away from population centers and understaffed to prevent votes from being cast.
Which is why removing a remuneration component from driving privilege is such a big push by some groups. Here's the facts, in case you'd actually like to the see numbers behind your sarcasm.

No, don't see any blocked state issued ID cards on this list for child support. the entire purpose of the ID card is for when you can't have a license. Don't be dense.
You should just respond to everything with "But racism!" and save time typing.
Give me two examples of voting centers being hours long drives away.
Sounds rural. Who lives in these rural Republican states? Remind me what color they predominately are?
Are you not for vaccine mandates? I mean, if you can bring your vaccine card with you, seems like voter ID is FAR fucking simpler.
And inner city precincts, by definition are population centers... they aren't far away from shit.
Short of rush hour traffic, there is nowhere in the continental United States that you can't reach the county seat, which must be a voting center, in under 2 hours. The only place that I know it might be possible to not reach a county seat in under 2 hours MIGHT be Alaska. That's it.
The rest of Seran's asinine assertion is equally wrong. Too bad he is simply to far indoctrinated in this farce to back out now.
Right at the top: This article is more than 6 years old
I understand you believe that the "10,000 people" this effected 6 years ago might be a huge problem for you to base your entire point upon.. but given that this country has 330 million people... it's an extremely tiny percentage of the population.
Nnngh, your link fails to meet my standards of qualification because it's right.
It's also funny because in that 6 year old opinion piece, he makes the argument not to trust mail in voting. Almost like someone didn't read it after being called out for a BS argument. Oh yeah, it also talks about how the US Govt mail service is terrible and these people are (English) illiterate.
But, racism. Just stick to that homey.

Haven't seen oil prices this high since Joe Biden was the VP....
Seems like just yesterday Seran was telling all of us we had to personally thank Biden because oil prices dropped a whole 1%. I wonder if he'll come along now and tell us we need to personally thank Biden for increasing gas prices to levels not seen since 2014. Of course not. He'll find a way to blame this on Trump or Republicans.
It's amazing really how Democrats can actually look at their life and finances and realize they are way worse off now than they were 2 years ago under Trump but they'll still insist Biden is the best president ever.
7% inflation in one year? Poor people earning 30k a year effectively lost 2100 dollars since Biden has been president and will continue to lose that 2100 dollars a year for the rest of their lives. But hey, Biden and the Democrats gave us all a one time only 1200 dollar stimulus check so it all evens out! Then there is the matter of Biden killing 3 times as many people as Trump did with his failure of handling the China virus.

Where precisely are you getting your numbers from? Core inflation at the end is of the year 2021 sat at 5.5% year over year, high and nearly triple what the Fed see's as healthy long term inflation. Yet this isn't a record, not since the double digit inflation seen in 1979 and 1980.
Real wages for the most of working America is up, up a staggering amount and its outpacing inflation.
Retail: 8.4%
Food service, administration: 18.4%
So while your Republican spin doctors might be screaming doom and gloom, the average worker is making more than they were before with inflation indexed. With unemployment sitting under 4%, an American seeking a job can find one as job openings far exceed available workers.
Workers who cannot work, or choose not to work are suffering that is true. Inflation against a fixed income or welfare only benefits hurts, but since when have Republicans cared about that? Build Back Better was set to rollout new safety net programs, which have been derailed by two democrats and all of senate Republicans. So while you may want to land the poor suffering on Biden, it's in fact Republicans which are preventing their relief.
Republicans are digging holes in the road to a more equitable recovery, then telling everyone it's the Democrats fault for being powerless to stop them from doing it.

So, the filibuster was originally used prior to the Civil War to allow the minority party to voice their grievances in the Senate. That is fair and I think thoughtful debate /is/ a lost art and in the halls of power in our country. But even then it was universally understood that only an active speaker or speakers, so long as they held the floor could keep the filibuster alive. The talking filibuster was the greatest expression of minority appeal, putting objectors on the spot to air their grievances with legislation. Yet that was done away with, stupidly enough by a Democrat, in a brain dead attempt to prevent minority from stalling the Senate entirely. Now a senator need only give notice they intend to object, adding an unconstitutional threshold to overcome a simple piece of paper and superimposing a 3/5ths rule to invoke cloture. Nowhere in our constitution exists a requirement for supermajority to pass legislation. And yet here we are.
You keep using the word "unconstitutional" when you clearly have no idea what the word means.
A) Only a simple majority is required to pass legislation in the Senate, 60 votes is required for ending debate.
B) Just because filibuster and cloture isn't discussed in the constitution doesn't mean the Senate rules are unconstitutional.
C) What IS in the constitution is that both the House and the Senate can make their own rules of how they conduct business.
D) At one point a filibuster in the Senate could theoretically last forever, then this rule was changed to require 66 votes to end debate, then the rule was changed again to only require 60 votes to end debate.
Does this mean the Senate could just as easily change their own rules to do away with filibusters altogether and rely on a simple majority for all legislation? Absolutely. Is it "unconstitutional" if they decide to leave things the way they are? Absolutely not. Stop being a dumbass and stop spreading constitutional misinformation, you are literally murdering people with your words.
June 10, 1964
At 9:51 on the morning of June 10, 1964, Senator Robert C. Byrd completed an address that he had begun 14 hours and 13 minutes earlier. The subject was the pending Civil Rights Act of 1964, a measure that occupied the Senate for 60 working days, including seven Saturdays. A day earlier, Senate whips Hubert Humphrey (D-MN) and Thomas Kuchel (R-CA), the bill's floor managers, concluded they had the 67 votes required at that time to end the debate.
The Civil Rights Act provided protection of voting rights; banned discrimination in public facilities—including private businesses offering public services—such as lunch counters, hotels, and theaters; and established equal employment opportunity as the law of the land.
As Senator Byrd took his seat, House members, former senators, and others—150 of them—vied for limited standing space at the back of the chamber. With all gallery seats taken, hundreds waited outside in hopelessly extended lines.
Georgia Democrat Richard Russell offered the final arguments in opposition. Minority Leader Everett Dirksen, who had enlisted the Republican votes that made cloture a realistic option, spoke for the proponents with his customary eloquence. Noting that the day marked the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's nomination to a second term, the Illinois Republican proclaimed, in the words of Victor Hugo, "Stronger than all the armies is an idea whose time has come." He continued, "The time has come for equality of opportunity in sharing in government, in education, and in employment. It will not be stayed or denied. It is here!"
Never in history had the Senate been able to muster enough votes to cut off a filibuster on a civil rights bill. And only five times in the 47 years since the cloture rule was established had the Senate agreed to cloture for any measure.
The clerk proceeded to call the roll. When he reached "Mr. Engle," there was no response. A brain tumor had robbed California's mortally ill Clair Engle of his ability to speak. Slowly lifting a crippled arm, he pointed to his eye, thereby signaling his affirmative vote. Few of those who witnessed this heroic gesture ever forgot it. When Delaware's John Williams provided the decisive 67th vote, Majority Leader Mike Mansfield exclaimed, "That's it!"; Richard Russell slumped; and Hubert Humphrey beamed. With six wavering senators providing a four-vote victory margin, the final tally stood at 71 to 29. Nine days later the Senate approved the act itself—producing one of the 20th century's towering legislative achievements.

I really dislike how Schumer keeps saying "2 people" are stopping the legislations. It's 52 people (52%), you fucking partisan douche.
I really don't understand why Manchin doesn't just ditch the Democrat party. He doesn't even have to become a Republican, he could just become an independent and not caucus with either party. Like why subject yourself to this sort of hateful rhetoric from your own party?
It doesn't make as much sense for Sinema to leave the Democrat party because so many far left Democrats from California have flooded into Arizona lately that they have turned the state purple, but West Virginia is solidly red so he might even do himself a favor politically by leaving the Democrat party. What is even in it for Manchin anymore to remain a Democrat?
I bet McConnell would bend over backwards to appease Manchin if he left the party.

This is what they're leading everyone towards... full tracking/control/fines of movement by citizens.

I’m sure you have facts, evidence and data to support your claim?
Zelenskyy actually gives a shit about Ukraine, it’s people, and his country’s future, how many politicians can you actually say that about? if he was in fact corrupt as all other politicians, he would have accepted Trump’s offer.
He’s still in Kyiv, rallying his people and giving them hope, he’s survived multiple assassination attempts, rejected America’s offer to get the fuck out of there, while every other politician would run in his situation. He’s shown time and time again, he’s not like other corrupt politicians.
He’s loved by pretty much all Ukrainian citizens, his intentions are and were never about personal wealth, enriching his friends, or doing anything that would harm his country.
There’s nothing wrong with having money in off shore accounts/investments, I mean I even have some, and I’m sure quite a few other people on these forums have offshore accounts and investments. But like you said it was well before he became a politician or even got involved in politics. He was a successful actor and comedian. With all the corruption that was happening in Ukraine, it’s no wonder why he moved his money out of Ukraine and into offshore accounts/investments, to protect his own money.
The Ukraine has been ran by mafia style organizations since the fall of the USSR. You don't reach presidential status in a country like the Ukraine (or any other country) without being corrupt to the core. Pretending otherwise is just ignoring how the world works.
There is no good side in the war in Ukraine. The only good side are the people being forced to stay there until their eventual slaughter.
1984 has never been more relevant.
I doubt that statement to be factual…
While I agree that there is nothing inherently wrong with having offshore accounts and investments, as a politician at that level I can see how it may bring into public questions of conflicting interests. Many countries have it built into their laws / constitution that elected officials cannot own foreign assets. I’m no expert but pretty sure I heard Russia is one of those countries just as the first wave of sanctions were happening. No idea on Ukraine.
Side note…how the heck do you have those and work for HSBC (assuming you are a US employee)? Regulation requires me to disclose any and all investments with my employer, I have to receive pre-clearance to make any trades, have to hold onto any shares I buy for a minimum of 30 days, etc. Outside of retirement accounts I invest in real estate partially to avoid all of that regulatory headache as they don’t track or seem to care about that.
At my place they track all of her stuff too. When I first had to start annual personal investment disclosures we forgot about some small measly 401k she had from a place she worked at in her early 20s and never rolled over. They found it for us and asked about it…
Senate just passed another 1.5T spending bill during the highest inflation in 40 years.
In 1982 inflation was at 5% so the Federal reserve lowered the interest rate down to 9%.
We are currently at a .25% interest rate with 7.9% inflation. Investors are predicting 6 quarter point increases this year which would place interest rates at 1.75%.
In reality it's not just going to be 1.5 trillion but rather 3 trillion dollars by the end of the year. This will more likely be higher considering the likelihood of the US getting sucked into this war with the push for a no-fly zone.Quote:

This going to be a disaster.
My humble amateur assessment for the causes of our current inflation problem are three folded: (edit to add I’m in no way claiming I solely came to this conclusion on my own, but this is the assessment of the causes for rapid significant increases to our inflation rate by several respected economists who have formed a general consensus.)
1) supply chain issues that began with the epidemic
2) fiscal policy with the Federal Reserve (interest rates are way too low and increasing them is absolutely beyond necessary at this point)
3) government overspending
#1 will get better over time and the whole world is facing that right now. #2 the Feds are starting to finally do something about and we will see frequent rate hikes this year. #3 is the most painful and the one that’s going to continue to get us in trouble. The Biden administration seems to lack the most basic understanding of economics, and went so far as to publicly say the solution to this inflation issue is MORE government spending.
And more bad news, the logical next thing to result from this inflation and failed efforts to get this under control is going to be economic stagnation. I think we will see years of limited GDP growth 1-3% as a natural consequence. That’s exactly how it went down for Japan in the “lost decade”.
Agreed.
Also notice how the media and Dems keep calling the gas pump increase the “Putin hike”. Sorry folks…nothing we can do about it. It’s all Putin’s fault. And while yes Putin absolutely does have a lot to do with the most recent increase in price of crude oil, he completely ignores the fact that they were already high BEFORE the invasion. Biden’s domestic energy policies by executive order when he first took office have absolutely contributed to the steady increase in our fuel costs. But of course instead of taking accountability or considering easing up on the energy industry regulations, let’s just blame it all on Putin and make a half hearted attempt to get more oil from friendly nations like Venezuela, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. When they tell us to go eff ourselves, Biden can say he tried but this is all Putin’s fault…
There's going to be heavy resistance to increasing interest rates. Your investment class is going to be against it because they know if things go to shit they will just receive a bailout. Government will be against it because it will cost more to spend. Consumers will be against it because everyone is living off barrowed money.
People will shit themselves if buying a home costs 500k and comes with a 16% interest rate.
I agree. Higher interest rates have very negative consequences to economic growth, but I think the Fed finally realizes the dire nature of the situation and risk of hyperinflation if they don’t. They have made it clear there will be several increases of 25bps (maybe even 50bps at certain intervals) this year. To not do so would be fiscally irresponsible.
He was only elected because people hated Trump. He didn't even gain the majority of Republican votes in some areas.
It was that way in Wisconsin for sure.
No we're not. Remove these dumb drilling bans in areas where we know there is a shitton of oil. Open up more areas for drilling. Give out more explorations leases. Approve more drilling permits and faster. Give tax breaks to energy companies if they increase their production by a certain amount.
You can argue you care about the local wildlife more than you care about Americans suffering, or that you don't think energy companies should be given tax breaks, but don't straight up lie and claim we're doing everything we can to lower the price of gas.
I’m sure you have facts, evidence and data to support your claim that zelenskyy is corrupt? You specifically said he is a corrupt politician, can you prove it?
Yeah, Ukraine was corrupt and probably still is, that doesn’t mean zelenskyy is. Have you ever thought that maybe the people want a change? Maybe he wants to actually do things for the betterment of his country, his people and their future?
Bringing up that Ukraine was already corrupt, and you think will always be corrupt isn’t evidence, data or facts that zelenskyy is also corrupt.
You know his entry into the race was crowd funded by the public that was completely transparent? Part of how Ukraine maintained corruption was by making a presidential entry expensive as fuck.

I can think of 640 million acres of things we can do.
That was all well before he became president or even got into politics, it was his own wealth from being an actor and comedian.
So how does him having offshore count and business dealings before he even became a president or getting into politics make him a corrupt politician?
It’s common practice for people of Eastern European countries that have any sort of money to move their money out of the country because of the corruption. You are aware of this right?
You said he’s a corrupt politician, so can you show me evidence, data or facts that prove it?
Him having legitimate wealth outside of the country does not mean he’s corrupt.
On top of that, he doesn’t even have a lot of money. Shit, I have a higher net worth than him.
If I had a nickel for every time you've come in here blindly repeating Russian propaganda with absolutely no awareness whatsoever over the years, I would be able to put a down payment on a Bay Area house.
It's tragic, disturbing, and (unbeknownst to you) humiliating.
