He probably doesn't believe your stories that you work for a bank, given how you didn't know the difference between debt and deficit.
I mean being the janitor in a bank could technically be "working for a bank" right?

Not sure how that is relevant to Neveragain claiming something posted on Twitter is true, because there has been nothing reported claiming otherwise.
Hey Neveragain, I read on Twitter that China and Russia are about to become our 51st and 52nd state, and Tupac and biggie smalls both live in North Korea, oh and JFK is actually alive and he’s living in a secret bunker under the lost city of Atlantis. Since there is nothing that’s disproving what I’ve said, it must ALL be true!

Sure, as long as you ignore the part where he at least included some links containing *evidence with his Tucker claim, as opposed to you just throwing words together and being like "YOU CAN'T DISPROVE IT!!!" then yeah they're the exact same thing.

Oh noes, I posted a plural instead of a singular.
I am shocked that you missed the point of the post entirely.
Super shocked.
Protip: It's because you're retarded. Which is why you're blowing a load all over yourself over me saying "links" instead of "link" while the actual point of the post continues to sail right over your head.
I'd explain again how just because he posted a link to a video of a Ukranian guy supposedly confessing to attempting to assassinate Tucker, doesn't mean it's actually a credible source, and how even then that's still more than you just throwing random words together and then trying to convince yourself that you really did something there, which is the kind of retarded shit Ashliana would do, but you've already demonstrated that that's way too much for you to process.
The irony of you deciding that it's me who can't follow along though when you're still proving in real time that you can't keep up with a very simple point I'm making.
Maybe you should try being less fucking stupid and stop acting like a tween girl every time you post.
And when you're done with that, try to grow enough of a sack to not vote based on what a few Russian dudes on the other side of the world, who probably don't even exist to begin with, might think about it. Because that's peak pussy behavior.

The same Simon Ateba that called out KJP at a White House press briefing for never taking his questions, and then she got so butthurt over it that she ended the briefing early and walked out on everyone?
Yes I'm sure that's just some dude operating out of his mom's basement like Latrin hiding from covid under his bed with 2 masks on his face and 3 over his asshole.
I don't know shit about the guy besides that incident and now this Tucker shit, and I don't know or really give a shit how real or fake the Tucker assassination story is, because that's all just noise either way, but I would imagine that they don't just let anyone from the "press" into White House press briefings. Of course, they banned him after he called out KJP for sucking, but this is also the same White House that now arrests journalists they don't like for doing journalism that contradicts their narratives, so there's that.
But hey if the MSM says he's lying, then he must be lying, because the MSM and their "fact checkers" never lie or prioritize their narrative ahead of literally everything else and they have such a stellar track record of not lying. Right?
Remember when that same MSM shit their pants for years over Russian collusion, and it turned out they were lying about all of it the entire time, and the only person left who still believes it is Seran, and that's only because he was born with massive brain damage?
Good times.
If you're having trouble keeping up still, which you probably are, I'm not saying that the Tucker story is true. I'm saying that the MSM saying that something isn't real means absolute jack shit anymore, at least to anyone with a mostly functional brain and minimal thinking ability.

And when he wins in Nov, they will once again deny the election, actively seek out ways to get him unelected by telling electors not to vote for him... complain that the Electoral College is racist or suppressing some minority and call for stacking the Supreme Court in order to get a liberal majority on it.

The former longtime CFO of the Trump Organization, himself already convicted of a slew of financial crimes, has now admitted to perjuring himself as New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) undertook a massive civil fraud probe into former President Donald Trump’s business empire.
Allen Weisselberg appeared in New York Supreme Court to plead guilty to two felonies on Monday morning before Judge Laurie Peterson. Thereafter, the judge set sentencing for April 10.

Trump says he does what he wants and doesn't worry about the money. There are, however, sometimes monetary consequences to doing whatever you want, including grabbing women by their lady parts without even asking, which is what the jury concluded happened.
March 7 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday denied Donald Trump's request to delay enforcement of the writer E. Jean Carroll's $83.3 million verdict in her recent defamation case.
More... (https://www.reuters.com/legal/trump-cannot-delay-enforcing-833-mln-verdict-e-jean-carroll-case-2024-03-07/)
In seeking to avoid posting a big bond, or any bond at all, lawyers for Trump rejected Carroll's claim that his finances were strained.
They assured that Carroll was "fully protected," and said a $24.5 million bond would be more than enough to "secure any minimal risk" to her.
Carroll disagreed. She said Trump's finances were opaque, called Trump the "least trustworthy of borrowers" and said his request "boils down to nothing more than 'trust me.'"
Trump's financial flexibility deteriorated last month when the judge who found him liable in New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil fraud case ordered him to pay $454.2 million.
He offered to post a $100 million bond in that case, but James said any bond should cover the entire judgment. An appeals court judge on Feb. 28 denied Trump's request to delay enforcement during the appeal.
Asked on March 5 if he could pay what was owed or post bond in both cases, Trump told Fox News: "I have a lot of money. I can do what I want to do. ... I don't worry about the money."

If the appellate court declines to allow Trump to post a bond of less than the judgment amount, then I predict Trump will file for bankruptcy.
I repeat my claim that if the appellate court does not reduce the bond Trump is required to post, then Trump or his companies will file for bankruptcy.
Trump filed another motion with the New York appellate court today asking that the court stay the bond requirement relating to the judgment in the civil fraud case that he recently lost. The appellate court rejected an earlier motion by Trump to reduce the bond. Today's motion, coming one week before the deadline to post the bond, is more desperate..
Here, Defendants' ongoing diligent efforts have proven that a bond in the judgment's full amount is "a practical impossibility." Affirmation of Gary Giulietti ("Giulietti Aff.") ¶ 18. These diligent efforts have included approaching about 30 surety companies through 4 separate brokers. Affmnation of Alan Garten ("Garten Aff."), ¶5. A bond requirement of this enormous magnitude-effectively requiring cash reserves approaching $1 billion, Giulietti Aff. ¶17-is unprecedented for a private company.
More...big PDF (https://eddsa.blob.core.usgovcloudapi.net/public/2024_01134_doc_11.pdf)
Here are some points that Trump makes..
Bond companies require cash as collateral and will not accept real estate as collateral.
Trump would have to sell real estate at a fire sale to raise the required cash, which would not result in the optimum sales price.
The real estate is plenty valuable, and the state will not be at risk if Trump loses the appeal.
Some of the Trump companies that are defendants do not own real estate directly. Instead, those companies own other companies that own real estate. As such, there is no way to use the real estate as collateral to get bank loan.
The amount of cash needed to post the bond and to continue to operate the businesses would be approximately $1 billion which is the source of the billion dollar number in the quote above.
Does that sound fully honest to you? If Trump could, but would no want to, sell real estate to raise money for the bond, then why could he not use real estate as collateral to obtain a loan from a bank, which he says in the point I labeled 4 that he could not do?
Notice that in the point that I labeled 5, Trump says that posting a bond would leave him with too little cash to operate his business. I think he is making the argument in favor of bankruptcy.

Can't imagine why insurance companies wouldn't take real estate which are under threat of seizure as collateral for a bond. Much less as a result of a trial about the willful falsification of wealth and assets.

Trump posted the following this morning..
Judge Engoron actually wants me to put up Hundreds of Millions of Dollars for the Right to Appeal his ridiculous decision. In other words, he is trying to take my Appellate Rights away from me when I have already won at the Appellate Division, but he refuses to accept their already made decision. Nobody has ever heard of anything like this before. I would be forced to mortgage or sell Great Assets, perhaps at Fire Sale prices, and if and when I win the Appeal, they would be gone. Does that make sense? WITCH HUNT. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!
I knew it. Trump admits that he could borrow from a bank to get the cash to buy a bond. But his court filing said he could not. Trump's filing with the appeals court was intentionally misleading on this point. Or have all of his assets already been pledged as collateral for other debts?

No. The jury said Carroll proved her case with regard to sexual assault and with regard to defamation. The jury said she did not prove her case with regard to rape. The jury ordered Trump to pay money to Carroll to compensate her for the sexual assault perpetrated by Trump. The jury also ordered Trump to pay money to Carroll to compensate her for the defamation perpetrated by Trump.
Although the damages might be reduced on appeal, it is hard to see how Trump could overturn the jury's finding that there was sexual assault. Carroll told two people at the time of the incident what Trump did to her. Carroll and those two witnesses testified at the trial. Ten years after the incident, Trump was caught on the Access Hollywood tape bragging that he did to women exactly what Carroll had told her friends he had done to her. And Trump did not deny any of it at the trial. If the jury followed the rules and decided the case only on what they heard at trial, then the jury had overwhelming evidence in favor Carroll.
You're undoubtedly planning to ask me the difference between sexual assault and rape. I am far too polite to answer that question. George Conway seems to be less bashful than I am. He can explain it..

Nobody was going to ask you the difference between rape & sexual assault, because normal intelligent people understand it perfectly. Giving a girl a little playful smack with your hand on their ass without their expressed consent would be an example of sexual assault. Rape is putting your dick in her hole without her consent. There is a big difference. This is not to say I condone the behavior of sexual assault, but if you insist on calling Trump a rapist that makes you 1 of 2 things: Either you are retarded, or you do know the difference but just TDS so much that you justify your intent to defame him.
Edit: Also understand that in a civil case the burden of proof is the preponderance of evidence vs. a criminal case is beyond any reasonable doubt.

Definition of "kangaroo court": an unofficial court held by a group of people in order to try someone regarded, especially without good evidence, as guilty of a crime or misdemeanor.
You can start on how New York actually brought this case against Trump.. creating a law so they could forget all about the statute of limitations for 1 single year.
Add to it that Carroll didn't have any evidence or any actual dates.. just feelings that she felt like Trump assaulted her.
This is why it was never criminal.. because this case would be thrown out. This was civil, where people can use their feelings that something happened and that they are somehow wronged.. to get money.
And in New York, it works very well against Republicans... especially if their name is Trump.

If Letitia James forecloses on Mar-a-Lago and sells it, then we'll find out what it's really worth. In 2020, Trump agreed that it was worth $26.6 million, as described in the court ruling quoted below..
In 2020, the Trump Organization hired Poer to file an appeal of the 2020 tax assessment of Mar-a-Lago, claiming that the assessed, taxed value of $26.6 million was too high. PX 3170, 3214, 3041 at ¶ 199. As part of the appeal, the Trump Organization explicitly stated that the property was commercial, and not residential. PX 3170. Two months after filing the appeal, the Trump Organization withdrew it, stating that it agreed with the $26.6 million determination of value.

That is true in most states, including Florida. The important point is that, to reduce the tax value, Trump truthfully told the tax assessor that the property could not be used for residential purposes because of restrictions in the deed. Trump then valued the property on his financial statements based on the assumption that the buyer would use it as a residence.

Sadly, the Left thinks that somehow, they will just order the military to engage the millions of citizens with hundreds of millions of weapons and trillions of rounds of ammo and people will roll over. Of course, it won't take more than a week or two and almost all the cities will be starving, burning and the death toll will make Aleppo look like a joke. I just paid my assessed taxes on my personal residence. The "value" that is used in that assessment is $240,000 less (and that is before homestead exemption) on what I can sell it for right now. Hell, it's less than what I originally purchased this home for 7 years ago!
When I go to purchase my next residence, I will use this home as an asset to gain a loan... I will not be using the tax assessed value to secure that loan.. I will use a competition set based upon this home's sale value.

This is a real headline from CNN:
Real estate CEO says Trump could sell Mar-A-Lago 'quickly' to secure $464 million bond
Now wait a minute. I thought the whole point of this laughable lawsuit was Trump lied about how much this property was worth and the judge decided all on his own it was only worth 20 million dollars (or whatever he said.)
And CNN has been there every step of the way to defend this crooked judge and repeat that Mar-A-Lago isn't worth as much as Trump said it was.
But now CNN runs a story stating Mar-A-Lago is worth half a billion dollars?
If it weren't for the Serans of the world then CNN would have went bankrupt years ago.

If the appellate court does not reduce or eliminate the bond requirement for Trump, then what should Trump do? I think his smartest move, politically and economically -- not a great move, but the best of bad options -- would be to do nothing until the State of New York begins seizing assets. They will seize cash first, of course. Once they seize the cash, he should promptly declare bankruptcy, saying that the state left him no choice, since he will need cash to pay his employees. Without a favorable appeals court ruling in the next few days, I think that is the only way to delay matters without losing too much political credibility.

They will seize cash first, of course. Once they seize the cash, he should promptly declare bankruptcy, saying that the state left him no choice, since he will need cash to pay his employees. Without a favorable appeals court ruling in the next few days, I think that is the only way to delay matters without losing too much political credibility.
There isn't a single individual with an IQ above 12 that would take financial advice from you... and certainly not a billionaire like President Trump.

Tired? Look at the title of this thread. When I started this thread several years ago, I warned that exhausting court proceedings were on the horizon. We've reached the horizon -- something you can only do in metaphors. The slow movement of judicial proceedings is frustrating, but it has left me impressed and proud that our justice system is giving Trump every benefit of the doubt and allowing him to exercise every privilege and procedure available. At the end of the exhausting day, Batman will be proven right: Crime doesn't pay.
Well, I’ll pay you a compliment that at least you recognize Trump’s right to due process & constitutional protections just like any other citizen. A lot of folks on the left are upset that he exercised such privileges & procedures which has made a trial date to occur before Election Day highly improbable in most (all) the criminal cases.
On posting the bond and the appeal, I really could care less. We’ll see what happens in just a few days. Just a hunch though, you will likely be disappointed with the outcome.

After telling the appellate court that securing a bond would be a "practical impossibility," and while still waiting on the court to rule on the issue, Trump announced today on social media that he has nearly $500 million in cash. The reason Trump gave to the court for the impossibility of securing a bond was because the bond companies wanted cash, instead of real estate, as collateral, and he did not have enough cash. Trump is destroying his credibility.

Pretty consistent for Trump to be undercutting his own credibility. He did it as a Democrat, as the Republican nominee, as president, and of course it cost him a second term. Trump has actively sabotaged his own legal proceedings more than anything else, hence why no seasoned attorney wants to defend him in proceedings.

Yes, Trump may very likely have a much higher paper net worth /if/ the IPO goes through. Question is, how restrictive will be his shares be when the deal finalizes? How to prove you have no clue about shipping anything. On the back of any trailer made in the past like 30 years is a series of numbers, they include maximum gross weight, capacity and tare weight. Tare weight is the empty weight of the trailer assuming average tires. Weight enforcement is done on gross vehicle weight. So, loaded, you and your partner driver if any, all the crap in your cab, the fuel in your tanks, the drugs in your tires, whatever, if it all adds up to the gross maximum, you are overweight. I know more than one trucker that was approaching the top of the scale and had to be careful getting fuel and, a few who topped off fuel where it was cheap and had, after going through a scale, had to clean out their truck of all the trash, take a dump and then sit for a few hours and burn off excess fuel in the weight station in order to pass the scale. When it's close like that, you can catch some slack, a few thousand over and you are paying a fine and possibly dropping your box until it can be corrected.
My sister drove OTR for Covenant for a few years and then was a dispatcher/load manager for a few more after she came off the road to deliver my neice.

Things that are known on every truck:
Weight of the truck.
Weight of the empty trailer.
Ask your mommy about the "weigh stations" that she sees on the highway. Trucks pull in there and then get weighed. So now they know your total weight. Minus your truck weight, minus your empty trailer weight... guess what.. now they know your cargo weight.
It's not that difficult to learn if you get the courage to pull yourself out from under your bed and go out into the world.

Thank you all for the comments and explanations. I've looked into it further, and I determined that you were all wrong. There is a federally imposed weight limit of 80,000 pounds, as some of you said, but that limit includes the truck, trailer and cargo. When you subtract out the truck and trailer, there is about 40,000 to 45,000 pounds of cargo capacity remaining for most trucks and 53-foot semi-trailers.
For our penny estimate, we could just double Rocktar's calculated number of trailers.

"Assume the following hypothetical: Donald Trump has been ordered by a court to deliver $500 million to Letitia James, the Attorney General of the State of New York. He is angry about it, and he thinks the court order is unfair. To be spiteful, he is delivering the $500 million in pennies.
"Write a humorous poem with 16 rows of text about it."
In a fit of rage, with a plan so sly,
Trump set out to make the AG cry.
Five hundred million, a sum so grand,
But in pennies he'll place it in her hand.
His tiny revenge, a spiteful display,
Pennies piled high in a vengeful array.
Each copper disc, a jab at the law,
Forcing his hand, what a final straw!
The courtroom echoes with clinks and clangs,
As Trump's pennies rain down with no holds or hangs.
Letitia James, with eyes wide in shock,
Stares at the sea of pennies, a cruel mock.
"I'll count every cent!" she vows with a frown,
But Trump just smirks, as he leaves the town.
For in his mind, this act is just right,
A billionaire's scorn in the dead of night.
But oh, the irony, in this penny parade,
For Trump's own spite is his accolade.
A king of chaos, a master of flair,
Yet reduced to pennies, beyond compare.
So let this be a lesson, clear and true,
Even for those with power to pursue.
In the end, it's not gold that wins the race,
But the humble penny, with its quiet grace.

We need to figure in other variables before you can simply claim X number of trucks is right given to you by some "AI" all seeing God.
Most trucks that come into my facility say keep it at 42K or less when loading. Seeing as how things can vary such as cab type and material used in the trailers and so on, we'll just stick with 40K as the max weight limit.
Now we have to take into consideration what year the penny was minted.
After 1983 pennies (copper plated zinc) weigh 2.5 grams.
From 1865 to 1982 (copper) pennies weigh 3.11 grams.
We can't know for sure how many pennies in the this shipment of $500 million dollars will be pre 1983 and post 1983. So we'll do the total of each.
According to Google, there are 453.592 grams in a pound.
Pre-1983 pennies (rounded down) = 145 pennies per pound
Post-1983 pennies (rounded down) = 181 pennies per pound
Next, we need to take into consideration a way to actually store the pennies because we can't simply just push 40K pounds worth of pennies loose into a trailer, it just wouldn't work. The load could shift causing it to be very unsafe for a truck and other vehicles on the road when it is going up/down a steep graded road or hitting the brakes hard. We need containers to store the pennies.
Looking online I find heavy duty plastic totes that hold a max weight of 1,000 pounds. The totes have dimensions of 40"x48"x34" (LxWxH). The totes weigh 60 pounds each. Interior storage of these totes are 29.29 cubic feet.
Google search tells me that 49,152 pennies can fit in a cubic foot of space, we'll round down to 49,000 to keep the numbers a bit more simple.
49,000 pennies weigh (pre-1983): 337.93 pounds
49,000 pennies weigh (post-1983): 270.72 pounds
Most pre-1983 pennies we could load in one of these totes that maxes at 1000 pounds = 2.95. Take this times 49,000 = 144,500 pennies
Most post-1983 pennies we could load in one of these totes that maxes at 1000 pounds = 3.69. Take this time 49,000 = 180,810 pennies
Tote filled with 144,500 pre-1983 pennies gross weight = 1056.55 pounds
Tote filled with 144,500 pre-1983 pennies tare weight = 996.55 pounds
(We can technically, based on numbers, add in an extra 3.45 pounds or 500 pennies to hit max 1,000 pounds, giving us a total of 145,000 pre-1983 pennies in a tote)
Tote filled with 180,810 post-1983 pennies gross weight = 1058.95 pounds
Tote filled with 180,810 post-1983 pennies tare weight = 998.95 pounds
(We can technically, based on numbers, add in an extra 1.05 pounds or 190 pennies to hit max 1,000 pounds. Giving us a total of 181,000 post-1983 pennies in a tote)
Standard 53' dry van trailers have interior dimensions of 53' long, 8.5' wide and 9' high.
Max number of these totes you could fit on a 53' van trailer = 90 (if you needed to go 30 deep per layer and stack 3 high)
Seeing as we're filling totes to 1,000 pounds we will only need about 40 totes otherwise we'll exceed the 40K max load weight.
Math-wise, we can fill 37 totes completely in a trailer and then fill one up partially.
38 totes empty weight = 2,280 pounds
Pre-1983 pennies
37 totes gross weight = 39,220 pounds
37 totes with 1000 pounds of pre-1983 pennies = 5,365,000 pennies
1 partially filled tote = 60 pounds, leaving 720 pounds of pennies to fill it.
720 pounds of pre-1983 pennies = 104,400 pennies
104,400 + 5,365,000 = 5,469,400 pennies
Converted to dollars = $54,694 per semi
You will need to have a total of 9,142 (rounded up) semis to haul $500 million worth of pre-1983 pennies
Post-1983 pennies
37 totes gross weight = 39,220 pounds
37 totes with 1000 pounds of post-1983 pennies = 6,697,000 pennies
1 partially filled tote = 60 pounds, leaving 720 pounds of pennies to fill it.
720 pounds of post-1983 pennies = 130,320 pennies
130,320 + 6,697,000 = 6,827,320 pennies
Converted to dollars = $68,273.20
You will need to have a total of 7,324 (rounded up) semis to haul $500 million worth of post-1983 pennies
In all, you would need between 7,324 and 9,142 semis to haul $500 million worth of pennies.

To be fair, not sure how you phrased the question to ChatGPT.. but I asked the same exact question and got a completely different answer... so add "using ChatGPT" to the list of shit you can't do.
Question: how many semi trailers would be required to haul 500 million dollars worth of pennies.
ChatGPT
To calculate how many semi-trailers would be required to haul $500 million worth of pennies, we need to know the weight of the pennies and the capacity of the semi-trailers.
The weight of a penny is approximately 2.5 grams. Now, let's convert this weight to pounds (since semi-trailer capacities are often measured in pounds):
1 gram = 0.00220462 pounds
2.5 grams = 2.5 * 0.00220462 pounds = 0.00551155 pounds
Next, we need to find out how many pennies are in $1. To do this, we divide $1 by the value of a penny, which is $0.01:
$1 / $0.01 = 100 pennies
Now, we can calculate the number of pennies in $500 million:
$500,000,000 * 100 pennies/dollar = 50,000,000,000 pennies
Next, we need to calculate the total weight of these pennies:
50,000,000,000 pennies * 0.00551155 pounds/penny ≈ 275,577,500 pounds
Now, we need to know the capacity of a typical semi-trailer. A standard semi-trailer in the United States can usually carry around 40,000 pounds.
Finally, we divide the total weight of the pennies by the capacity of a semi-trailer:
275,577,500 pounds / 40,000 pounds/trailer ≈ 6,889.4375 trailers
Since you can't have a fraction of a trailer, you would need approximately 6,890 semi-trailers to haul $500 million worth of pennies.

Trump stands a good chance of completely reversing the judgement through the appeals process. He has an even greater chance of reducing or eliminating the bond amount pending a stay. He can and likely will get it all back later, and the state will be obligated to pay on the resulting damages.
The greatest “revenge” Trump will have against New York is the damage this has done to the state, which will last for many years long after this whole ordeal. New York has signaled to the entire world through the actions of this court that investing capital & building a business is not safe if you find yourself on the wrong side of their politics. Letitia James campaigned on this promise of going after Trump before she knew of any possible wrongdoing and then applied some arbitrary law meant to protect consumers against him. Everyone knows this is political. If the state can do it Trump, they can do it to anyone.

Must be hard to enforce. You'd have to unload the trailer and weigh the cargo separately.

They also gave Trump an extra 10 days to post the $175 million bond. Since he says he has $500 million in cash, it should be no problem.
As I tried to warn, you will likely be disappointed by the outcome. Better luck next time.

Since you can't have a fraction of a trailer, you would need approximately 6,890 semi-trailers to haul $500 million worth of pennies.
from a weight perspective it makes sense. Would the ~$72,500 worth of pennies in each truck fit inside the cargo hold?

I wonder if Trump can find $175 million of pennies in the next 10 days? No, it would still require too many trailers.
But $175 million of $1 bills should be doable. He could fit it in 10 trucks. He should do it. Spectacle! People would talk about it for weeks.

Easily. $1 million of pennies is approximately 20 cubic feet. A trailer has a 4,000 cubic foot capacity. We would be hauling something small and heavy, compared to the size of the trailer.

Bernie Madoff, who actually did commit real fraud with real victims in the biggest Ponzi scheme the world has ever seen, had a $10M bond in his criminal case. I mention this to put into perspective that even the reduction to $175M to appeal this case is obscenely high. Former President Donald Trump will likely be sentenced to between one and four years in prison if convicted in the Stormy Daniels hush money case, an attorney and former ambassador said.
Norm Eisen said that he and his team at the Just Security think tank analyzed "hundreds of comparable cases" and calculated that Trump can expect a sentence of between one year and four months on the lower end and four years on the higher end for each of the counts in the indictment. Each sentence would likely run concurrently, he said.
New York prosecutors will try to prove that before the 2016 presidential election, Trump paid two women—Daniels, a former adult film star, and former Playboy model Karen McDougal—not to reveal his affairs with them. He is also accused of making payments to a former Trump Tower doorman who claimed to know that Trump fathered a child with another woman.
Trump has strongly denied all allegations. The alleged payments would violate election law because they were supposedly made in an attempt to hide a scandal and influence the 2016 presidential election.
More... (https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-stormy-daniels-payments-manhattan-new-york-trial-sentencing-jail-prison-1870309)
Do you believe Trump made and hid these payments because he was running for office? The alleged affairs with Daniels and McDougal took place nearly 10 years before the election.
Trump had a credibility problem in the Carroll case because he denied ever having any interaction with Carroll. Clearly, the jury believed there had been some kind of interaction. The evidence was there. And if Trump was lying about ever having met Carroll, then he may also have been lying about whether or not the encounter was consensual.
Similarly, in this case, Trump continues to deny that he ever had an affair with Daniels. So far as I can tell, his guilt in this case does not hinge on whether or not he had an affair but, instead, on whether or not he falsified his financial statements in an attempt to hide the payment to Daniels. The jury may conclude that there is overwhelming evidence that Trump had an affair with Daniels. They may also conclude that if he is blatantly lying about something that so obviously happened, then he is also lying about the financial statements.

The Gross Up.
If you lend me $100 and I repay you $100 next week, then your receipt of the $100 is not taxable income. But if, instead of calling the $100 from me a loan repayment, we call it a salary payment, then you will have to pay taxes on it. If your tax rate is 40%, you will have just $60 left after payment of your taxes. For you to have $100 after you pay your taxes, I would have to pay you $166.67.
It would be exceedingly dumb business -- not to mention a misstatement of what really happened -- for me to pay you $166.67 when I owed you only $100. It would be so dumb, in fact, that it would make people suspicious, since it is a common money laundering tactic, sometimes called a "gross up."
That's the tactic that Trump used to repay Michael Cohen for the hush money payment that Cohen made to Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf. And that's how Trump reported it on his financial statements. How will he explain it in his criminal trial starting April 15?

In the New York hush money criminal trial, what is the probability that Trump will make a deal with Bragg and plead guilty to a crime prior to the trial? I say 35%. If Trump can get Bragg to agree to a misdemeanor that will not require jail time, then Trump will be eager to avoid the public testimony of Karen McDougal, Stormy Daniels and David Pecker. For his part, Bragg would be relieved to get the matter over with, as would the judge. The only problem is that, under New York's rules, Trump would be required to say in court in person that he committed a crime, and he would be required to describe in public what he did. Excessive pride could make Trump and Weisselberg roommates.
Unlike many states with their soft-on-crime no-contest pleas, when you plead guilty in New York, you give up your right to claim innocence and your right not to incriminate yourself. If this case were in a state that allowed no-contest guilty pleas, like Texas or Florida, then I would revise the probability to 75%.

The Trial of the Century?
Some people say Trump's criminal trial beginning next week will the Trial of the Century, like O.J.'s criminal trial was for the 20th century. Without teevee cameras in the courtroom, I don't think it will be.
Will Trump testify? It may be necessary for him to testify to have any hope of winning, since his intent is an element of the crimes. But if he testifies, he will have to answer about the truthfulness of his previous denials of at least two affairs -- one with a Playboy model and another with porn star.
“Yeah I would testify, absolutely,” Trump said at Mar-a-Lago. “It’s a scam. It’s a scam, that’s not a trial.”
Jurors are not allowed to hold it against Trump if he chooses not to testify.

Possibly. That's what happened with most of the charges against John Edwards in a very similar case. Edwards did not testify at his trial.

Interesting things from the first day of the Trump hush money trial..
The judge granted Trump's request that the prosecution should not be allowed to mention that Melania was pregnant while Trump was cheating on her. Of course, Trump denies that he was cheating at all. Even so, he does not want it mentioned that she was pregnant at the time.
The judge refused Trump's request that Trump be allowed to skip some court days. Unlike in civil trials, in a criminal case the accused is required to attend unless excused by the judge.
Trump, who often calls Biden "Sleepy Joe," fell asleep with his mouth wide open during the first days of the trial.

Trump is certainly not gagged (https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24528568/2024-04-01-dec-and-order-re-clarification-of-order-restricting-extrajudicial-statements.pdf) from talking about whether or not he was asleep.
Trump's court catnap was personally witnessed by multiple reporters, including a Pulitzer Prize winner.

Trump says he sleeps just four hours a day, and anybody -- probably including you -- who sleeps more is lazy.
“You know, I’m not a big sleeper, I like three hours, four hours, I toss, I turn, I beep-de-beep, I want to find out what’s going on,” he said in 2016, according to the Chicago Tribune.
You can bet all eyes will be on Trump on Tuesday for any signs of further drowsiness.

A sleep expert weighed in with this insightful comment..
“Anytime we fall asleep in a stressful situation, those are indications that your brain is prioritizing it,” Dr. Chris Winter, neurologist and sleep expert, said of the court.
“We live in a society where an individual who is able to fall asleep quickly and anywhere is a great sleeper. But someone who is able to fall asleep in jury selection is really someone who is at great risk and not an excellent sleeper.
“He has something wrong with the nature of his sleep.”

holy shit he literally went and used a Maggie Haberman quote to prove me wrong. *appears* doing some heavy lifting in this article.
Democratic strategists are roasting former President Trump on Monday for appearing to fall asleep in a New York courtroom during the first day of his hush money trial.
Trump at times during the day closed his eyes, appearing to nod off. He also would lean back in his chair motionless with his arms crossed for considerable periods, but opinions differed among the press corps about whether the former president was actually asleep.
Maggie Haberman, senior political correspondent at The New York Times, reported that Trump looked like he was sleeping and later told CNN, “He appeared to be asleep. Routinely his head would fall down.”

For 30 years, Snopes has been the recognized authority to confirm or quelch internet rumors. Snopes has labeled "unproven" the rumors accusing Trump of, um, an unacceptable degree of ventosity in the courtroom.
Snopes performed its own investigation into whether this rumor passed the smell test but came up short — everything we found could be traced back to either Meiselas or Conway. Because neither of them shared who their sources were, and no major news outlet had covered the supposed flatulence, we have rated this claim as "Unproven."
