"Minneapolis Teachers Outraged after Union Contract Suggests Race-Based Layoff Agreement"

"In an effort to revise how the district hires and retains teachers of color, the new contract states that teachers will be subject to layoffs or job changes in “order of seniority,” unless the teacher is part of an “underrepresented group.”

Now I'm all for increased teacher pay, tougher oversight and easier hiring/firing practices for bad teachers, and smaller classroom size (increasing the teacher workforce)...

But firing based upon race? I'm pretty sure that idea is completely antithetical to the concept and direction we were headed as a Nation. This is what tribalism and leftist ideology results in.

Don't take my word for it...

    https://www.eeoc.gov/statutes/laws-enforced-eeoc

"This law makes it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex."

All I see is "on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex".... I don't see a carveout in that law for "under represented groups"...

The only way to support and reach the goal of full inclusivity, is to be FULLY inclusive... but... they like separating us based on our immutable aspects - have to keep the sheep in line.

It makes sense for Minneapolis. The fucktards on the city council that worked on defunding the police and then came around later to complain that crime has gone up....yep, these stupid fucking people run the city. And they wonder why people are leaving the city and not coming back.....let folks riot and burn businesses down, defund the police and now want to fire people based on the color of their skin. I'm so glad I don't live in Mpls, but I'm disgusted that I live nearby and have to deal with it.

I'd love for more people to be teachers (of all colors/backgrounds)... but the system needs a serious overhaul. The statistics prove the sad state it's in - and it's not for lack of financial investment.
Take the story of the LA Unified School District this morning whose facing a lawsuit over their African American child having been required to participate or watch in a reenactment of life as a slave by making student participate in picking cotton from a garden in front of their school. Anyone who'd think the child would obtain an important life lesson from that needs their head reexamined.

Meanwhile I'm the the school will settle a low to mid six figure payout to the traumatized child's mother. A perfect use of taxpayer money: don't pay for education, pay for teachers and administrators mistakes!

Fucking absurd. Sad to hear that happened to a child.

This is what I don't get... because I think both are not the place for young children.

If you disagree with forcing a child through such an event, why are you for teaching young children about sex? I'm not talking teenagers - as part of HS curriculum... I'm talking about the push for teachers to explain sex to 5-12 year olds.

The example you described disgusts me, and the one I just explained does also.

Now in HS... I could see if part of drama club, theater class, etc... a student enacting a scene or such is perfectly acceptable IMO. Sex education, from a medical standpoint is also perfectly acceptable IMO.

I just don't get having young children re-enact slavery, or teach them about sex. Let them be kids.

Because reenacting life a hundred and fifty years ago is q million times less relevant than telling kids about unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, making them less terrified of the changes happening to them and for encouraging them to come forward about crimes and abuse. Parents have a right to not involve their kids in sex education. A political party doesn't have the right to ill define sex education. Left or Right.

Still upset that in Florida, the teachers can't teach sex education to elementary kids.

This really upsets you.. even though you don't live in the state.
