I mean. The only story I can find talks about heading there to visit family.

You must not have looked very hard, probably because it doesn't fit your narrative.

An American woman, and former military interpreter, remains trapped in Afghanistan after the last US flight departed.

Sara and 37 Afghans she was trying to save were living in her house.

She worked for the US military as an interpreter and was there trying to help vulnerable Afghans evacuate before the Taliban took over.

But I guess maybe she was just vacationing too right?
