Obama signed two laws about gun control in his two terms, both of which expanded gun rights. One allowed gun owners to carry in national parks, which replaced Ronald Regan's gun control there. The other allowed Amtrak passengers to carry guns in their checked baggage, reversing a post 9/11 law.

His rhetoric didn't match his actions. He was certainly critical of guns after each mass shootings, but it's not like he called it a national emergency and pushed through anti gun laws. He pushed executive actions to enforce laws already on the books, but didn't push any executive orders to enforce new laws.

I don't care much about bump stocks. I don't have one nor did I ever plan on getting one, but to say Obama was bad for gun ownership is just not true.

The Obama administration affirmed the legality of bump stocks on three different occasions: once in 2010, again in 2012, and once more in 2013.

All I said was I don't believe people who claim they just want to stop at so called military style assault rifles, rather they are never satisfied with the number of gun restrictions that are put in place and I cite NZ as a recent example and you for some reason bring up Obama? Shit I could probably list dozens of gun control measures off the top of my head just here in the US and yet the left is still pushing for more gun control.

Obama, thankfully, didn't tackle gun control until after he lost congress. You really think he and the Democrats wouldn't have rammed through as much legislation as they could if they decided to focus on that instead when they controlled congress?

But since you seem to be completely unaware of the shit Obama either did do while in office or wanted to do I can name two off the top of my head.

He wanted to ban everyone on the "no fly" list from owning a firearm.

Say what you want - but Obama wasn't bad for gun control especially in comparison to what Democrats wanted him to do.

He also made it so people receiving social security disability and VA benefits who were deemed incapable of handling their own finances would no longer be able to own a firearm.

He specifically chose executive actions over executive orders. He could have made the order and forced the issue in court - which he didnt.

It is a huge difference. Didn't waste the courts time and his base felt like he was with them.

Again - legally speaking, the current administration has outlawed more gun rights than 8 years of Obama.

And yeah I admitted he just proposed people on the "no fly" list not be allowed to own firearms, but it was an example of the rhetoric gun control advocates always push. There is never enough gun control for them because their ultimate goal is complete gun control.

And to be fair Trump said something stupid too about confiscating guns before people were found guilty in a court of law. Difference is Trump quickly walked back that statement and never pursued it. Obama kept fighting for people on the "no fly" list to lose their second amendment rights, blaming Republicans in congress for supposedly allowing terrorists to own firearms.

I may be a bit fuzzy on the way background checks for people with mental illnesses. I'll have to check that tomorrow.

I'm pro gun (obviously), but Obama essentially pushed enforcement of laws that already existed.

There are gun rights folks on the left as well.
