So NZ not only banned semi automatic rifles, but they also banned most pump action shotguns.
This is why I no longer believe someone when they say "I don't want to ban ALL guns! I just want common sense gun control like banning fully semi automatic military style assault rifles!"
Because as liberals have proven time and time again over the years, they are never satisfied with their gun control measures.

Oddly enough - the most recent ban to infringe on gun rights was from the Republicans. Even Obama didn't push banning bump stocks.

The Obama administration affirmed the legality of bump stocks on three different occasions: once in 2010, again in 2012, and once more in 2013.
Obama himself - you're probably right, but his adminstration confirmed they were legal.

But you're right, they aren't banned as of yet apparently, but odds are good this bill will pass as is.The bill would ban “military-style” semi-automatic guns and high-capacity magazines. It would also ban semi-automatic shotguns that could be fitted with detachable magazines and pump-action shotguns that can hold more than five rounds.
It's crazy how I literally post a country going from "Don't worry, we're just banning fully automatic semi automatic military style assault weapons" to "Just kidding! We're also banning pump action shotguns!" and somehow I'm reaching.
Obama didn't push to ban bump stocks because there was no mass shooting during his tenure where someone used a bump stock. Obama was pushing gun control after almost every mass shooting, I'm sure he would have been all over bump stocks too.

Obama signed two laws about gun control in his two terms, both of which expanded gun rights. One allowed gun owners to carry in national parks, which replaced Ronald Regan's gun control there. The other allowed Amtrak passengers to carry guns in their checked baggage, reversing a post 9/11 law.
His rhetoric didn't match his actions. He was certainly critical of guns after each mass shootings, but it's not like he called it a national emergency and pushed through anti gun laws. He pushed executive actions to enforce laws already on the books, but didn't push any executive orders to enforce new laws.
I don't care much about bump stocks. I don't have one nor did I ever plan on getting one, but to say Obama was bad for gun ownership is just not true.

All I said was I don't believe people who claim they just want to stop at so called military style assault rifles, rather they are never satisfied with the number of gun restrictions that are put in place and I cite NZ as a recent example and you for some reason bring up Obama? Shit I could probably list dozens of gun control measures off the top of my head just here in the US and yet the left is still pushing for more gun control.
Obama, thankfully, didn't tackle gun control until after he lost congress. You really think he and the Democrats wouldn't have rammed through as much legislation as they could if they decided to focus on that instead when they controlled congress?
But since you seem to be completely unaware of the shit Obama either did do while in office or wanted to do I can name two off the top of my head.
He wanted to ban everyone on the "no fly" list from owning a firearm.
He also made it so people receiving social security disability and VA benefits who were deemed incapable of handling their own finances would no longer be able to own a firearm.
