As to what Atlanteax said the "betterness" of privatized services is usually highly debatable and primarily features profits for the private companies.

The best highways, continuing his example, are indeed typically the product of government and private company partnerships, but they can't be built everywhere. We also want to be really wary of transportation monopolies.

We mostly certainly pay taxes for ourselves but you, of all people, should know that we pay them for more than just ourselves.

That you don't represents a profound disconnect from reality. Its been clear since we had taxes (any taxes, and no, we didn't have income taxes right away) at all. One of the prime reasons the Articles failed is because we couldn't pay an army to protect everyone so they could become successful.
