I spent about 10 hours this weekend working on the Ice Dams. Finished one of four rooflinesover the weekend. Got frostnipped in the process though (consider it a Tier 1 sunburn... but for frostbite).

Gotta do the high roofline next... Get to break out the 40ft extension ladder for that one. Fortunately, we bought a propane flamethrower for that one, which I couldn't use on the first roofline... cause different pitches.

I plan on installing the heating wires next year to remediate the issues.

While insulation helps... If you have frost dams, it typically implies that your roof sucks. If you add insulation, you'll only need to remove that insulation before you redo your roof. Unless it's a storage/crawl space, where you can just place more insulation in the floor. That's fine.
