Seems like a dumb thing to do. Just change it already, sell everyone new jerseys.

A dumb thing to do would be to not fight this. Personally, as an Irish American, I'm upset and offended by this mascot and I will move to have it changed as it shows my people in a very disparaging light.

While I think this is an excellent idea, I think the people that are complaining will then move onto the logo and protest that.

They changed it to something else a few years after I graduated claiming a naming controversy, but I think it had more to do with the weird, 70's softcore porn vibe the mascot had. I think the only way to be safe would be to just, you know, not have anything to do with Native Americans at all.
