You're all bitter buttholes. Except for pk. Continue to believe the lie and be damned, if you want. No need to shoot the messenger because you don't like the message...unless you're a Nazi.
Can someone TLDR the Antarctica thing?
I personally don't buy the alien race part, but the idea of the Nazis tunnelling in the ice down there doesn't shock me. The ice is over a mile thick, and their subs were state of the art. They tunneled everywhere else, after all, and many, including Hitler, escaped to south America according to us sources. Fia. Look it up. I'm not saying, I'm just saying... Nazi camps have been discovered in Argentina jungles. I don't think it's that far fetched.

You gesture at a triton radical.
The dull golden nimbus surrounding a triton radical suddenly begins to glow brightly.

Warding failed!
Wisps of black smoke swirl around a triton radical and she bursts into flame!

Flame engulfs back: a triton radical flambe!
The triton radical collapses, gurgling once with a wrathful look on her face before expiring.
The dully illuminated mantle protecting a triton radical begins to falter, then completely fades away.
A white glow rushes away from a triton radical.
The dull golden nimbus fades from around a triton radical.
The brilliant aura fades away from a triton radical.
The very powerful look leaves a triton radical.
The white light leaves a triton radical.

It has been genetically determined that the HIV/AIDS virus did not come from any biological origin, and certainly not the green monkey as we were told. HIV/AIDS is a laboratory created biological weapon, created by the US, to control the population of drug users, gays, Africans, and others we consider "inferior peoples."
You must have so many aids.
Like, seriously, all the aids.
Aids, not AIDS.

I finally got my start date for my new job, it's the 19th. Building launch is August 12. If I get approved for this apartment, I move in on the 15th. If they're doing off site training, Amazon is sending me to Texas for 2 weeks, all expenses paid. I'm finally getting my braces off in 2 weeks. I have two ridiculously hard literature classes and hope I can keep up with all the moving and shit.
The fact I'm still alive is blowing my mind. I'm stressed.
Also: I'm going to be living alone by myself for the first time without a bf, and I'm scared shitless!@!@!
Living alone is awesome. http://www.buzzfeed.com/kevinmcshane...her#.ck6JAZbP3
What kind of lit
It's African American Lit, and then a short story class where I have to do this media term project, and write a page paper about it. Ugh. Lots of writing and reading. I hate reading, which is ironic cause I'm an English major.
Also:! I got the fucking apartment! Fuck yeah. I'm just waiting on my lame ass OLD apartment, to fax back fucking papers for my new one, but they don't get their asses on it at all. Ugh, I need this done by the end of the week, I move in on the 15th, but they won't finalize my application until they get this fucking paper.
Still stressed until this is done.
I can finally play Phantasy Star Online 2 in English.
Scratch that. The damn thing is IP blocked. :/
I know someone who starts at Amazon this fall. They hired him in May, and told him they didn't want him to work anywhere else until he started with them, and that they'd pay him to not work. So basically a mandatory 3 month paid vacation before work starts. Mind blown. Must be nice.
Fucking craziest fight i've seen in my life.

Money and the right to call oneself, "Champion". I'm sure there are fringe benefits, as well.
Took me a ridiculously long time to change the battery on my Timex Ironman watch that I use for traveling. I finally got everything together and there's a visible speck of dust on the face under the glass that is going to drive me nuts until I take the whole thing apart again. sigh.
This is a daily occurrence for me: A table of lets say 6 will all want separate checks and then will all try to give me coupons. It states right on the coupon that it is one per TABLE! When I inform them of this their response is always "but we are paying separately". I don't know why they think that separate checks means they are sitting at their own table. Almost as bad as the people that ask me what kind of fish the filet mignon is.
I used to work in a deli, when they asked for fish that didn't smell fishy, basically they wanted it to be fresh. If they're old, they probably got a lot of fish that wasn't properly refrigerated/frozen back in the day, and equate that to a fishy smell/taste.
Let's face it, most places don't hesitate to sell food that's right at the edge of it's acceptable freshness. Maybe not these days, where all the big chains sell pre-cooked, then frozen, then reheated meals.

Wow, judges like this need to be disbarred.
http://reason.com/blog/2015/07/24/th...g-practices-of
During Anderson’s sentencing hearing, Wiley told him: “You went online…trolling for women to meet and have sex with. That seems to be part of our culture now: meet, hook up, have sex, sayonara. Totally inappropriate behavior. There is no excuse for this, whatsoever.”
Lolwut? How dare people use online dating sites to find other people to have sex with!
Hardly outside the norm. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_for_cash_scandal
It's kind of hard to have sympathy for people who committed statutory rape. It also bothers me that the blog referred to those incidents as "consensual sex" and "low-level offenders" and that the judge was "harsh" on them because of "his own moral qualms with modernity."
I have qualms with statutory rape as well. I guess I'm just an old fuddy duddy :(
I did read the article but that's why consent laws such as this exist, to protect people that society has deemed to be vulnerable. In this case no and yes both mean no, and for good reason. I think it would be a dangerous precedent to set that people could avoid being charged with a crime as long as the victim speaks on the defendant's behalf.
I also think the person who wrote that article misunderstood this quote of the judge:
"You went online…trolling for women to meet and have sex with. That seems to be part of our culture now: meet, hook up, have sex, sayonara. Totally inappropriate behavior. There is no excuse for this, whatsoever."
The author took it to mean "You wanted to meet women for sex. You're scum."
To me the judge is saying people are so concerned with having "the sex" these days that they don't even bother to get to know the person first anymore. Which is fine. If that's the way you want to do things who am I to stop you? But then you should be prepared to pay the consequences if it turns out that 19 year old woman you had sex with last night was really a 14 year old girl. You didn't want to bother to get to know them first to make sure they are at least 18 then you pay the price afterwards. I think that's what the judge meant by "There is no excuse for this." The man was looking to place the blame on the girl for lying about her age.
I have more sympathy for these men if they meet these underage girls in a club where you have to be at least 18 to enter or meet them at a bar. At least there is a reasonable belief that they might actually be of age. But anyone can create an online profile and claim they are 18. If you don't take the time to gauge their real age then that should be on you.
Because what if she didn't lie about her age? What if she admitted to being 13 but the guy had sex with her anyways? What if this whole "I lied about my age" wasn't until after the fact? What if the guy threatened her into telling the judge she was lying in order to escape being prosecuted?
This is exactly why statutory laws exist, to prevent exactly this sort of shenanigans. You had sex with an underage girl, you're guilty.
Same reason prisoners can't consent to sex. What if the prison guard threatened the inmate to have sex, then when the relationship was uncovered the guard then threatened the inmate to say it was consensual, then the abuse continued since it was now "consensual"? That's why the law says no, you get caught having sex with an inmate, no matter what, you are being charged with a crime.
She also violated the TOS on Hot or Not by lying about her age.
I don't see how the girl breaking a TOS agreement with a third party has anything to do with the statutory rape claim.
It's still not a valid excuse, I was just saying I can see how one might be more inclined to believe the girl was of age because most people wouldn't think they got in there with a fake ID or anything. It's much easier to believe some random girl just created a fake profile on an app then to believe a 13 year old girl has a fake ID.
But that's why statutory/consent laws exist the way they do, there is no need to prove any of that happened.
Not debating the rest of this... but they busted a number of 14 year olds with fake ids at the school I teach at this year.
There's a reason To Catch a Predator was always very clear about their actors being underage. How stupid would it have been for them to have someone pretending to be a 17/18 year old only for Chris Hansen to sit the guy down and say 'Well it turns out she lied about her age and she's really 14, now you're a sex offender. Ha! Gottem!"
Prisoners losing their ability to consent to sex might not be universal, but I'm pretty sure it exists in most states and federal prisons.
That is how age statutory rape laws work though. I'm not aware of any state where ignorance of the person's age is a valid defense, even if the minor lied about their age. There might be extenuating circumstances (such as the bar/fake ID thing) where the judge might impose a lighter sentence, but to my knowledge not knowing the victim's real age is not a legal defense in the sense that the defendant can walk away from the crime altogether.
This is another part of protecting vulnerable members of our society because if not knowing the real age was a valid defense then men/women would just never ask the age of anyone. "Hey that chick looks pretty young, I'm gonna play it safe and never find out her age."
To Catch a Predator isn't a good analogy in this situation because the people on the show never engaged in sex with anyone (you know what I mean.)
There is nothing at all illegal to agree to meet up with someone who says they are 18 with the intent to have sex with them. Nothing illegal has happened yet. If the man shows up at the girl's house and she looks 12 then the man has to start thinking with his big head and say "What the fuck? Bye."
The reason To Catch a Predator is different is because those men are agreeing to meet what they think are underage boys/girls with the intent to have sex with them. That is a whole different story.
There are actually several states where ignorance or claiming deception is a valid defense. I don't know if Michigan is one which is why I asked (and I don't care enough to look it up on my own). People have 'walked' or had their convictions overturned because of it.
I guess it just seems like in order to fully protect yourself from someone lying about their age you're going to need some kind of CAC reader and signed affidavits from the individual's parents.
I looked it up and there are some states that allow ignorance of age but only in limited circumstances. The states that allow this as a defense have a minimum age they allow this defense for, like if the girl is under 13 then no matter what the man can't use ignorance of age as a defense. Also the defendant has to prove he was deceived or had reason to believe she wasn't under age. He's probably not going to convince a jury that he honestly thought a very obviously 13 year old looking girl was really 23. Likewise if people told him the girl's real age, or he went around telling everyone about his hot 13 year old girlfriend, then he can't very well say "Well she lied about her age so I'm in the clear."
It is a defense in a few states, but it's still not as simple as just saying "But I really thought she was 18."
There are other ways.
True. If you meet someone then want to have sex with them 30 minutes later then you're probably screwed, but I suppose those are the risks you take when you want to jump in the sack with someone that soon after meeting them.
What you have to ask yourself is whether we as a society should put more effort into protecting adults who want casual sex or children.
The only alternative to such dilemmas (and this is far from the only one in our legal system) is universal surveillance. If everybody knows everything, then nobody can be deceived, then nobody can claim deception.
Yes please :)

I would but like I work 65+ a week and go to school full time online and I barely have time to sleep. ;_; One of these days. I read the bits of where that one psycho ghoul made Kaneki go off the deep end, cause I heard in the book was more brutal than the anime and I have to agree.

I was driving on a road near my home this afternoon when this freaking dear jumps onto the road right in the path of my car. I was barely able to break in time. I don't usually see deer roaming around the area except at night, but this was the middle of the day.
There are too many deer. I blame the liberals and their anti-hunting laws in this state.

Shot of an ICBM being fired near the California coastline. I'm sure others would disagree, but I found it a bit unnerving. Let's hope we never have to shoot these things off outside of a test.
I did not. Throw up a link?
Is that a CGI representation of what it would look like if detonated?
57MT I believe though capable of 100MT. The largest nuke ever tested by the US was Castle Bravo which was 15 megatons. There was some kind of technical screw up with that one because it was only supposed to be around 6MT.
If I remember correctly, the Russians found this was too large, the majority of the blasts energy was ejected out of the atmosphere.

Guess France (and Britain & others) wish they were not so eager on getting rid of him nowadays (with the flood of refugees - economic migrants)
Considering it was still enough to obliterate everything in a 15 mile radius I don't think that is too much of a problem.
The thing that I find unnerving is the current level of nuclear brinkmanship by Putin. Threatening Denmark with nuclear strikes against their navy, buzzing NATO countries with nuclear bombers, proposing to place tactical nuclear weapons in the Crimea, and now recently launching multiple high level cruise missiles designed to carry nuclear warheads. He's playing a dangerous game.
According to Einstein we'll be using them again eventually.

I just thought it was interesting. Personally I don't worry about a super power using nukes, they are useless from the point of gaining land and resources. It's the crazy fuckers I worry about getting their hands on a nuke, you know, someone like Ted Cruz, that shits scary.
Or that. Honestly though, it's just not something I worry about. Of course I grew up during the cold war and got to watch all those duck and cover films. If a schoolroom desk would save me, this oak roll top desk will be impenetrable and I have a refrigerator, so there's that.

That Rousey/Correia fight.
Yeah but it's fun to watch her dominate. Same reason why so many people enjoyed Fedor's quick knockouts.
Also why people bought Iron Mike tickets in his prime.
Is she not particularly skilled or something? My knowledge of MMA is 'hit make fall down'.
Her striking isn't world class, but she is very strong on the ground and is an extremely powerful fighter. She easily ragdolls other fighters due to her Judo experience. She needs work on her kickboxing, mostly.
