Let's make it easier for you to get the concept.. I'll use food to help you on this journey.
Let's say you order a steak. The waiter brings it out, and it’s perfectly cooked.. juicy, flavorful, and exactly how you asked for it.
This would be you, “That steak must have been cooked by a DEI hire, because I heard the chef is a woman.”
That wouldn’t make any sense, right?
The steak is great. Why would you assume she didn’t earn her place in the kitchen just because she’s a woman? Unless you can show me she wasn’t qualified, it’s just a good steak, cooked by a good chef.
The point is: you judge the quality of the work, not the identity of the person doing it.
Assuming someone got the job only because of their gender, race, or background without any evidence of unqualification is like assuming a great dish can’t be great just because the chef doesn’t look like what you expect.
