I’m in the middle of this issue. Musk is not wrong that we have a domestic shortage of engineers and skilled employees in technology. In the campus I work at we have an entire building dominated by Indians on H-1B work visas. The reason my employer hires these people is not because they are cheaper (sometimes they are and sometimes not), but because there isn’t enough IT folks to hire from domestically.
I’m ok with a legal immigration policy for this purpose under certain conditions. It should be made more costly for corporations to hire immigrants with these work visas vs. U.S. citizens that are equally qualified. We also need to make new programs that educate and train young people in these fields, and large corporations with the need for this talent should share some of the burden of the expense in doing so.
I think it’s important for the Republican party and the America First movement to distinguish themselves from legal vs illegal immigration. Illegal immigration of unskilled masses from impoverished countries is bad. Legal immigration of skilled and educated workers is a necessary tool to advance our economy, and should be embraced when & where it makes sense.
Last, the whole claiming Elon is our shadow president is the left trying to sabotage and divide the Trump administration and voters. Only if and when Elon steps out of line is it necessary that Trump reminds him who was elected and in charge of the executive branch of government. Until and unless that happens, don’t fall for their ruse.

Basically, they want to fast track H-1B visas. The Indian dude Trump picked to be in charge of AI has a tainted history of wanting to flood the US with Indian imports and has been exposed, on video, of teaching Indians to hack the H-1B system. He also donated to Kamala Harris and has countless tweets talking trash about Trump and MAGA.
