The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. ~ Marcus Aurelius“It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”

This is yet another case of:
American citizens: we are suffering! Help us!
Democrats: No you’re not. Vote blue no matter who!
During the pandemic, there were shortages on select items due to supply chain issues. Grocery store chains like Kroger raised prices during that time beyond inflation as they were flying off the shelf.
However you feel about that and whether you call that price gouging, that is not the issue we face today. Inflation has had a real and lasting impact on grocery items. Profit margins on those items are back down to normal levels. Pointing to the grocery store chains and placing blame on them for “corporate greed” is disingenuous. They are in business to make a profit, and there is plenty of competition. Prices have gone up because their costs have gone up.
No, I don’t want that. Price controls = shortages. If you force grocery stores to sell food items at minimal or below profit margins, they won’t be motivated to sell us those goods nor farmers produce them. We’ll just be trading high grocery store prices for long lines and shortages like we have seen with every communist / socialist/ command economy that has ever tried implementing those controls.
A good start to solving the problem would be for the government to stop spending (wasting) so much money which has devalued our currency. There is more we can do like driving down the cost on energy & incentivizing domestic oil production, but we should start by stopping the endless wasteful spending that the Biden admin has continued long past the Covid epidemic.

Not entirely sure how government expenditures effect the price of eggs which are domestically produced and sold. But please tell us more about your theory
Worth noting:
A US jury has ordered egg producers, including industry giant Cal-Maine Foods, to pay $17.7m in damages to a number of food manufacturing companies after being found guilty in a long-running price-gouging lawsuit.
Under federal law that amount will be tripled to around $53m
Mississippi-based Cal-Maine, the country’s biggest egg producer, said it was disappointed by the verdict and may appeal.
Cal-Maine, Rose Acre Farms, the second-largest egg producer in the country, as well as trade groups United Egg Producers and United States Egg Marketers, were sued back in 2011 by Kraft Foods, Kellogg, General Mills and Nestlé.
They alleged the egg producers engaged in a conspiracy to reduce supply in an attempt to increase the price of eggs. This included exporting eggs to reduce the overall supply in the domestic market and limiting the number of chickens through means including cage space and flock reduction.
