    I have to agree with others criticism here. You may find it extremely distasteful what Trump posted, but was it a threat? According to the FBI: If someone communicates any statement or indication of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action in an illegal manner, to include in a manner that manipulates the US legal system, that's a threat. To say you are going after someone that is going after you is isn’t specific enough or implying illegal action.

    Why does that matter? Forget Trump for a moment and think about your 1st Amendment rights. Whatever they do to him here the government can do the same to you (or someone you like). Our constitutionally protected right to speak out against government & speech that includes uncomfortable and/or insulting is a big part of what separate a free society from enslaved one. As a liberal, I know that is important to you just as it is to me.

    How many of those were done right after a court appearance? Where the defendant makes a veiled threat? If the judge issues a protective order, then obviously he and others agree it is what it is, a veiled threat.

    The first amendment, doesn’t apply when threats are issued. Once again this was a veiled threat, not a direct threat, issued right after a defendant appeared before a judge. While others that Rocktar mentioned were veiled threats, the situations are completely different.

    “If you come after me, I’ll come after you” is a classic example of a veiled threat. Because of the conditional clause that is used, and the vagueness of the consequences.
    “If you don’t do what I say, I’ll burn your house down” is a direct threat.
    “If you don’t do what I say, it’ll be a shame if something were to happen to your house” is an example of a veiled threat.

    “If you come after me, I’ll come after you” is a veiled threat.
    You are implying a consequence from an action. The key difference is plausible deniability.

    Imagine you witnessed a crime and the person saw you and said “if you go to the police, I’ll come after you” you would take that as a threat, not distasteful speech.

    What about the all the vidoes Trump made or all the other threats he’s made? Those are all veiled threats. The key difference between all of them, was this one was made right after a court appearance.
