The above is talking about sales tax. A rich man and a poor man that pay 6% sales tax on a $1,000 item each pay $60. In that sense, according to your reference, the tax is regressive because $60 is a greater portion of the poor man’s income. Now rub together your last 2 remaining brain cells to think what a 6% income tax means to each. The rich man pays more than the poor man, but it’s proportionally equal. Got it?
Did you just completely disregard the entirety of the first sentence and hang your entire argument on a modifier? Lol dude, you're something else. We've got a progressive tax system in the United States, and have had one for what a hundred years? It's not going anywhere, the wealthy in this country are doing fine without creating a leading aristocracy through implementing your regressive tax policies.

I'm sure it's completely escaped you that the rich in our country are trying to recreate the French pre-Revolution Three Estates system where the clergy and nobility were largely untaxed, while the peasants paid the lion's share of taxes.

You are the most retarded big government simp I've ever seen in my life.

We get it, you're an extremely low IQ loser who lives on the taxpayer's dime and can't bear the thought of anything happening to your welfare checks.

In other news, this is also you:

If you had just the tiniest bit of intelligence, you would be able to google "who pays the most taxes by income group" and know that what you posted is easily wrong.

But you don't.. so you instead keep posting like a retard and hoping everyone who reads your retardation is just as retarded as you.

SPOILER: NO ONE IS AS RETARDED AS YOU.

So your point is that it's unfair that the top 50% of earners whose earnings were 89.8% of incomes in 2020 for example were unjustly charged their average effective tax rate of 14.8%? SP is advocating a flat income tax which according to the IRS will regressively take more money from those who make less, while effectively cutting the tax bills of people who will still be making 90% of the money. That's a regressive system, one I don't see happening to federal income taxes in our country. Keep dreaming.

You claimed that the rich in this country have been trying to move the country to where they are largely untaxed.

    This is incorrect.

Here's a picture of what group paid what percentage of the taxes:

Notice how your group the bottom 50% only pays 3.1% of the taxes while the top 1% pays 26%? The top 50% pays 96.9% of all taxes.

When you see it like that.. it should make you feel even dumber than you are.. but in your case it won't.. because you are that fucking stupid.

Progressive = wealthy pay larger share of taxes
Regressive = poorer pay larger share of taxes

If you tax everyone at the same percentage of their income, that is proportional (AKA flat tax). I don’t know how else to explain that to you and I can’t argue with your stupidity…

It’s even worse on the bottom 50% when you factor in the benefits our federal government pays them. Anyone at a lower middle class income and below really don’t pay taxes at all.

Your table for the top 50% equals 72.6%, with the bottom 50% included it equals 77.1%. Try finding a source that even sums up there percentages paid by individual taxpayers correctly before you post again.
