1) Next year’s non-defense budget is slightly less than this year. In 2025 it can only be increased 1%. This alone saves an estimated $1 trillion dollars compared to what it was before the negotiated compromise. Is it enough? Not really, but at least we have a cap on Biden’s totally out of control spending.
2) The cut to the IRS budget was $20 billion, not $10 billion. Again it’s not enough, but it’s a step in the right direction.
3) Totally false on Covid relief fund clawback. The states that were banking on bailouts (mainly the blue ones) won’t be getting that money.
4) Trump’s tax cuts were extended. No new taxes on successful Americans. Wohoo!
Drink that champagne until you drown. What did Democrats get in return for those concessions? They got an extension of the debt ceiling for 2 years. So much for that “we won’t consider anything except a clean debt ceiling increase.” LOL! More to come later this year when Congress meets again for budget discussions.
