Morally and ethically I do understand your position.
The legal issue though gets complicated when you try to define when human life begins (I believe that it’s conception) and women having medical autonomy. I believe you and I would find agreement on these issues, but we can both recognize there are others that do not.
Further, I think it is more atrocious to abort a fetus/infant in say late third trimester than it is in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Part of my motivation to compromise is to protect a fetus with a developed brain & capability of feeling emotions & pain. More people can agree aborting those developed infants/fetuses (excluding fringe cases where it’s medically necessary or the infant is certain to die). So I say let’s start there and focus more on what we can agree on vs making it an absolute all or nothing.
