We can harden all these things, but we cannot stop them. We can outlaw guns, but guns will exist. We can beef up the borders, but illegals will still persist. I don't disagree with you we can do MORE, but it'll never be enough to say with absolute certainty we've eliminated something.

That's a lazy argument. Illegal entry across the border wasn't banned, it was made illegal to cross without authorization through a port of entry or common carrier. The reason why it is such a problem is two fold, a massive land border that we don't have the manpower to effectively guard day and night, and an immigration policy that rewards too many immigrants for making it over the finish line by allowing them to stay temporarily or permanently.
This would not be the same way with a non-living entity. Guns would be seized and either destroyed or sold. The perpetrators would face years of prison as a further deterrent.

North Korea has cracked the migration problem, and they do it in four ways:
Keep the country so poor and repressed that no one wants to come.
Build strong border walls and staff them with armed patrols who have shoot on sight orders for people crossing illegally (which usually means people leaving).
Have an authoritarian society where the people are closely watched and monitored, so any newcomers will be quickly noticed.
Distribute food through rationing and a state distribution system, so that those who manage to evade the other controls will die of starvation.
The DPRK has shown the way. The USA could easily follow this path to stop migration, but if they did so I’d be the first to get shot trying to get out.
On that issue, we need to find someone that lives in North Korea, that is allowed to freely use the internet, to give a substantiated answer.
Stopping migration is easy. Doing it in a way that the citizens of a prosperous and relatively free country will tolerate is the challenge.

I think we should allow everyone in. Make it free. People will be more likely to come in legit, through a border station, than try to sneak in.
Then the people sneaking in, you know they aren't just immigrants. Hammer them fuckers up.

Oh I agree the legal pathway to immigrants in the US needs improved massively. Spend money on lawyers and judges to move people through the process swiftly, get them to be contributing members of society, not pariahs. Most people desire to move here because of the opportunities, not to hurt us. Our divided congress will never do that though.
