It's a perfectly reasonable to have an entire Republican political agenda be shut down in order to explore emails sent by third parties where a political target was cc'd. Imagine just how much fun the Republican party could have with this by sending spurious emails to one another where they carbon copy their targets and then investigate how the target may have been involved.
