You're quibbling over an unstated and imagined belief that 'significant' is somehow in the federal criminal code. Violence against the authority of the United States in exercising a sworn federal duty such as certifying a federal election is textbook Insurrection.

Regardless of what the media tells you, this is what Trump actually said. Jan 6th was a riot that got out of control, not a "planned insurrection"... which has since been lied about continuously through edited footage. Rightfully the rioters were arrested and charged. You have this idea that in order for it to be an insurrection it has to be planned? It doesn’t, not at all. You also have this idea that what Trump labels it, really fucking matters? It doesn't, not at all. Based on the LAW, January 6th was an insurrection.

Go look at the law, it’s written quite clearly. Once again, it does NOT matter what Trump labels it. For you to think it even matters, and for you to bring it up as some sort of defense is laughable.

We learned Trump tried to attack a secret service agent when he was told that for security reasons, he couldn't match to the Capital as it was impossible to protect him there.

We learned Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani January 6th were prepping the staff in advance for the plan they matched in advance to overturn the election.

We also learned that upon being told right wing extremists were armed, carrying ar-15s, batons, stun guns, military grade armor and knifes the President demanded the security screening, mag detectors and other devices which were causing weapons to be taken from his supporters, to be removed because quote, "His people weren't there to harm HIM"

Anyone who hasn't yet watched this hearing in particular needs to stop what they're doing now and watch it.

As Seran is pointing out here, Trump's entire goal that day was to lead an armed insurrection against Congress to stop the certification of the election.

He knew for a fact it was a heavily armed crowd, he wanted the Secret Service to stop taking weapons away, and he was furious when he wasn't allowed to go with them to the Capitol.

If there's a shred of patriotism left in you, you need to watch this hearing. This is the future of your country at stake. This is how close we came to losing our democracy, and those same people are trying to get back into power so they can do this again- with all of those lessons learned from last time.

The President of the United States intentionally gathered and sent an armed insurrection to hurt and kill his own VP and members of Congress to force them to stop certifying the election because all of his other, horrifyingly illegal; immoral; and unpatriotic efforts had failed.

You need to stop and ask yourself if this is really what you want our elections to become. And if you think for a second Trump was doing all of this to "give you your country back"- you're wrong. He tried to take your country and democracy from you for himself.
