My right to own a gun is a Constitutionally protected right as spelled out in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.

Here's the actual quote from the Constitution that spells it out:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
