They realized they were going to be sued by investors if they didn't take the deal. They probably delayed just enough to consult lawyers and such.

basically, the buyout is for 50% more than the stocks are worth. It'd be a failure of their fiduciary responsibility if they didn't take it. I mean, if every stockholder decided it was cool, there is no issue, but with as many people owning stock, there'd undoubtedly be some that did.

I hope Musk sticks to firing every single one of the board members and fixes the issues that have plagued Twitter for years.
