Critical Race Theory is just an offshoot of Critical Legal Theory- which looks at the system of power and inequality as a social structure, and law as both a contributor to, and reflection of, that social structure. i.e. The law is part of how inequality is perpetuated. Not a single person here disagrees with that statement, I guarantee. And everyone here has, at some point in their life, said something along the lines of: "The law is there to protect rich people and screw over poor people". Congrats, you are a believer in the fundamental tenants of Critical Legal Theory.

Critical Race Theory is just applying Critical Legal Theory to racism and racial power. It does NOT- in any way, shape, or form- state that everything in history should be seen through the lens of racial inequality. It's a legal theory about the legal system and the way it has been used to enforce racism. Again, literally no one here believes that it hasn't. The "One Drop Rule", Segregation, racial limits on property ownership, laws that made black people actual property, etc. are all examples of the law enforcing racial inequality. If you can see that, then congratulations: you are a believe in the fundamental tenants of Critical Race Theory.

And I cannot stress this enough: Critical Race Theory doesn't look at racism as an aggregation of individual actions taken by individual actors. It looks at racism as a social structure that exists independently of most of those actors and looks for remedies through legal change, not individual behavior change.

It is not interested in how children behave. It's not interested in how you behave. It does not give a shit about anyone who doesn't either create or actively enforce laws that are either intentionally written to codify racial inequality or that have the unintentional effect of codifying racial inequality.

What's actually going on here is a bunch of people want to get schools to stop talking about the existence of, and history of, racism in this country. And they just put together a whole list of things they think shouldn't happen- most of which isn't- and gave it a name that would scare people: Critical Race Theory.

Because they know virtually no one outside of niche academic and community activist circles has any idea what it means, and that they won't bother to look it up from an independent source.
Read above... academic source... 2009... before it became a hot button issue. The fact you don't realize it's racist and demeaning as fuck to POCs, just shows how brainwashed you actually are.

People that support CRT - as it's own doctrine states - are actually racist. It's amazing they don't think they are, but I guess racists have a hard time with self-introspection.

This is actually pretty hilarious - near the end of summation - figured would add to it, because most won't get to the end....

LadsonBillings (2006) counters these beliefs when she states, "This [storytelling] is often seen as problematic because it is regarded as ‘unscientific’ and subjective, but CRT never makes claims of objectivity or rationality. Rather, it sees itself as an approach to scholarship that integrates lived experience with racial realism" (p. vi-vii).

ROFL... makes me chuckle. Ever wonder how that meme "facts don't care about feelings" stemmed from... as a counter to shit like above.

I'm just going to post this again (and again) until it gets through everyone's head.

Critical Race Theory is a legal theory that analyzes the ways the legal system is used to codify and enforce racism, which is views as a social structure. It then looks for remedies through legal reforms.

It's not a theory of psychology, and it's not a theory of human behavior. It doesn't look at racism as the culmination of aggregated behaviors from individual actors, nor does it look to remedy racism by changing that behavior. It does not give a flying fuck what your kids think about racism. It does not give a flying fuck about what you do in your day-to-day life or what you believe.

If you're not in charge of writing the laws or enforcing them, Critical Race Theory could not give less of a shit about changing you, your kids, or the choices you make in your stupid lives.

So when someone passes a law that says "Schools can't teach things that make people feel ashamed of their race", that has nothing to do with banning discussions of Critical Race Theory. CRT doesn't care about directly changing how people feel or what they do.

Those laws are there to create a system where it's illegal to do anything that might offend the fragile and racist sentiments of some (hypothetical) white parents, while ignoring the concerns of non-racist white parents and parents of color while also disregarding the well being of their children's isn't about teaching Critical Race Theory in schools.

It's about privileging racist views over everyone else's and using the law to do it. So in fairness, CRT would be VERY interested in those laws.

    But not your stupid children.

Get that? CRT teaches that seeing people as people, regardless of color, is actually racist.

What the author is saying - is that POCs should only been seen for their color, and their achievements and merits do not count. It's sickening.

socially constructing race may include: (1) the infamous Dred Scott v. All of the shit above? Democrats. Racist pieces of shit. Dred Scott? "The seven justices who supported the decision were indeed Democrats. But of the two dissenters — Benjamin Robbins Curtis and John McLean — only McLean was a Republican during his tenure as a Supreme Court justice."

And CRT is a backdoor Jim Crow 2020 style. Fuckin evil sick bastards.

This is an example of what teachers of CRT think... POCs are only good for "sports"...

"I am expected to tell the kids that if they study hard and stay out of trouble, they can become a law professor like me. That, however, is a very big lie: a whopper. When I started teaching law sixteen years ago, there were about thirty-five Hispanic law professors, approximately twenty-five of which were Chicano. Today, the numbers are only slightly improved. In the interim, however, a nearly complete turnover has occurred. The faces are new, but the numbers have remained the same from year to year. Gonzalez leaves teaching; Velasquez is hired somewhere else. Despite this, I am expected to tell forty kids in a crowded inner city classroom that if they work hard, they can each be among the chosen twenty-five. Fortunately, most kids are smart enough to figure out that the system does not work this way. If I were honest, I would advise them to become major league baseball players, or to practice their hook shots. As Michael Olivas points out, the odds, pay, and working conditions are much better in these other lines of work."

This shit is insidious propaganda designed to keep POCs thinking they are less than, can not achieve, and only their color matters. It's disgusting. It's the historical meanness of humanity wrapped up in pretty words. It's fucking sick is what it is.

I could keep quoting shit, but racists are going to keep being racists no matter how much I point out their racism.
The author was a fucking PhD student in the School of Education you idiot. He was attempting to apply CRT- in what he clearly considered a novel way- to educational outcomes.

He's not a scholar of Critical Race Theory.

You just quoted a university students doctoral thesis as if it were the God given text book to everything CRT. Without going into why everything about Critical Race Theory is wrong in my opinion, it is a minority opinion with absolutely no impact on our lives.

Reparations won't make it through Congress and affirmative action is about to be stamped out once and for all by the Supreme Court.

That leaves us with homework assignments like you quoted and Congressional Republicans and Florida governors trying to scare the country into donating all their money to their candidates.

Lol... well I'm not paying 110 dollars for the CRT books they're peddling and grifting people with these days. The fact you disregard all the references he publishes, quotes, and statements of the purveyors of CRT... again points to your blind, delusional, self-righteous and ignorant perceptions.

Even funnier - you said no one "outside of niche academic and community activist circles has any idea what it means"... trying to demean others and make yourself feel like you're educated - when I had already posted something from the "niche academic" realm... and then you say it's not good enough.

Typical I suppose though. Can't win on points, just deny the points. Typically how it goes. You can keep saying what you want... and you'll still be wrong.

As said though, racist people have a hard time with introspection, and someday you and others may realize how demeaning and racist you all are.

The first was from 2009... let's see how 2021 is progressing...

"Colorblindness, rights, meritocracy, and notions of neutrality are questionable and potentially harmful to marginalized peoples" - Yup... still there

"Interest of Convergence, Revisionist History, Critique of Liberalism, Structural Determinism" - Yup... still there.
