Russia "pulling back" is still a defeat on Russia part. They didn't just decide to, Ukraine almost had their entire force encircled after several successful counterattacks. They were forced to pull back. I'm not saying it was an absolute rout, it was an orderly withdraw.

The 2nd/3rd strongest military withdrawing from the 22nd/23rd is pretty embarrassing.

They remind me of the Iraqi army which was touted as a very formidable foe, ranking as high as 4th in the world... right before the US absolutely shit on them.

Another thing that Russia failed to do is to take Ukraine's sea access. At this point it would be next to impossible for them to do it with the current forces at hand. They could send in more troops, of course, but I don't think that is happening.

I was actually surprised as this was supposed to be one of the main motivations for the war.

There are already alleged incidents of mass graves and corpses lining the streets with their hands tied behind their back and a bullet in their head too. Is it true? Russia will never admit to it of course, but I imagine there will be a thorough international investigation.... Which will amount to nothing even if it is proven Russian was attempting genocide.

Hard to tell what is truth and what is propaganda coming out of Ukraine nowadays. If the stories are true though, then Putin and Russia should answer for war crimes.

Eh, Russia is never going to be held accountable for anything they do in Ukraine. Who is going to do it? How are they going to do it? Are we going to declare war on them to do it? That'll probably go nuclear and then you just have untold millions dying directly and far more from the effects.

China has literal concentration camps.

They are really the only country that could get Russia into a court. Without China, Russia is in dire straits.

I am always morbidly curious what sort of distraction would be needed for them to end Tibet. HK much less so.

What worked with HK where there was a who-knows-how-old pact that really allowed it to have its occupation (if you want to call it that) ended? I still feel like the PRC is somehow against HK and my Chinese friends could probably tell me how HK is now viewed by big China overall.
