History has already proven time and again that this is NOT what lifts people out of poverty.

Also Marx made a lot of gender pronoun assumptions and should be canceled.
Nice random Atlas Shrugged quote there, though hardly accurate in this day in age. The antagonists in that book were attempting to enrich themselves by claiming their efforts were for the average man, woman and child. Taking everyone and raising them up to a standard of living equal to everyone else. But they never achieved it, because in reality they were trying to create a slave caste, all the while skimming as much loot as they could.

In our modern age, the majority of Americans pay less than 20% in taxes and the majority of those who pay more, pay less than 30% into a system that us designed to make sure no one dies from poverty. I understand you're not against this, but I ask you what in our current system of government and welfare makes you think we have a society at all like the one in Atlas Shrugged?

No one is losing all their wealth to equalize all. No one is forced to stay in a job by government mandate. Yes the rich are hoarding all the cash in the world, but doing so from a broken tax system for the most part. So I see no modern parallels to Ayn Rands boogeyman of a socialist society.

I don’t know who Atlas Shrugged guy is and not going to bother looking it up. If I remember correctly some French dude coined that phrase first but Marx made it popular.

I agree with you our tax code is broken. Here is a concept…how about a flat income tax rate for everyone instead of a progressive one with tons of exemptions? I don’t really have a huge problem with the current welfare programs. There are opportunities for improvement. It’s my understanding that you and some others may want things like universal healthcare, additional housing programs, a universal basic living wage, canceling of all student loan debt, and a bunch of other expensive nonsense stuff. I give a hard no to that. Keep welfare appropriately low.

I can't wait to read what type of defense he comes up with here.. let's see:

    1) "Of course I know Karl Marx created the quote, but Ayn Rand made it famous"
    2) "Of course I know Karl Marx created it, but that wasn't what Suppressed Poet was referring to in the context of his post"
    3) "We don't know that Ayn Rand didn't first create the saying and Karl Marx used it in his book first"

He probably has no idea what unrealized capital gains are, he just "knows" we should tax it.

But more to the point- you have absolutely missed the entire point of the argument.
I totally support redistributing large swaths of land that have been blockaded by the federal government. A new homestead act is the only real solution to our current wealth gap problems and you would fight tooth and nail to make sure that didn't happen.

Your only solutions are subservience to an elite class.

You already know he has no idea that there's any difference at all between cash and net worth or how capital gains and capital gains taxes work.

There's a 99.999999999999999999999999999999% chance that he legitimately believes that Elon Musk literally has $180 billion in cash he can just go to the bank and withdraw.

Even for a raging leftist, Seran is so stupid that he makes other raging leftists look smart by comparison. Even Backlash.

I honestly used to think no one could be as naive and ignorant and downright stupid as Backlash.

Then Seran arrived. And AshlianaGotBanned. And time4fun. And cwolff.

Then I realized that there are more retarded people out there than just Backlash.
