While yes that is true, the real underlying reason commies murder farmers first is because they represent the middle class. Middle class does not imitate the ruling rich nor do they rely upon the state for assistance like the poor. Such independence cannot be tolerated in a communist government. Marxism pretends to offer a classless society, but the extermination of the middle class is their true goal.

At this point, we know three facts: i) total crop acreage in the U.S. declined by 14.4 million acres between 2014 and 2020;

A 4% reduction or 14.4 million acres when just in the last fifty years American farmers went from feeding 43 people per farm to over 150 per farm. Less water, less farms, more people growling explosively per year.
