It feels like this ill thought out evacuation has turned into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

Do nothing and they blow up the crowd waiting for evacuation, send in troops and they face a gauntlet of IED's.

70,000 evacuated from the Kabul airport in the past week, epic. Our military has had a command performance thus far and with a reported 1,500 Americans left in the country, scarcely 10% of the original figure it looks like success is near.

No surprises that the briefing generals and stage department reps have been cagey on just how those outside of Kabul will be taken home from the country, I'm guessing as little information as possible to the Taliban is their goal.

Local news agencies in Afghanistan report it was a local ISIS affiliate and the Taliban rushed to condemn the violence. If intelligence confirms the source, I'm sure swift and calamitous air and drone strikes are on their way.
