Leaders in the UK said Europe should no longer be in a position where one person from one country (the US president obviously) can unilaterally call the shots in situations such as this so they should work together so they won't have to rely on the US as much anymore.

FWIW we had a literal pallet of cash that we would hand out to people who provided us "intel". We knew what we were told was either entirely fake or rival blood feud bullshit, and reported it as such, but we were told to continue handing it out. Someone up above apparently thought it was real.

Yeah, its from a book apparently written by someone from Afghanistan so the truth lies somewhere in the middle. A lot of it seems plausible though. I could see a politician acting on fake intel just to score a win.
