I think that it would be stupid to do away with it. You do not.

I said if a discussion were had about changing it and getting rid of the electoral college, that certain requirements would be needed. Those requirements are not currently needed.

From your comment seems you support the electoral college then. Glad to see you come around.
In defense of removing the electoral college I submit that the primary reason to do so is because it irrefutably gives more value to some citizen's votes over others. I believe every person's vote should count the same as another's.

I understand it was instituted at a time when it may have seemed more fair but now the antiquated system is being used as a work-around to gain full executive power by bypassing a truly democratic process.

If republicans are afraid of never being elected into office again they need to change their platform to be more appealing to the majority instead of trying to prevent the opposition from voting.

You should identify who you are when you are voting and we should make sure you are only voting once. If you don't have a state ID or a state driver's license, then you aren't participating in society anyway.

Republicans are interested in minority party rule. They have zero interest in abolishing any tool that allows them to gain or keep power with fewer votes than the opposition.

Unfortunately they're currently following the tried and true playbook for maintaining power as a majority group that fears losing its majority status. If white racial anxiety were a political party- it would be Republicans. They increasingly have very little to contribute to governance, but they have A LOT of policy proposals for consolidating white power and stoking white fear.

It's why the GOP Senate doesn't pass bills- it just appoints hyper conservative judges.
It's why they took gerrymandering to the most extreme place possible and defend it at all costs
It's why they pass voter suppression laws that specifically target democratic (read: non white) voters and have their voters chasing imaginary voter fraud
It's why they spend so much time scaring their voters whenever there's *any* talk of making voting easier
It's why they're all suddenly so incredibly okay with trying to overthrow the will of the people- trying to use Courts and State Legislatures to invalidate millions of legally cast votes and install their own electors- a literal attempt at an authoritarian coup

It's also why they've drifted into increasingly serious attacks on the free press.

The unsettling thing is, they'll increasingly go along with more extreme measures to maintain their power. And if you want to know what that looks like- go read up on Hungary and Poland. We are following in their footsteps here, mile by mile. When these current antics stop working, that's when things start getting really scary.

Not that what's going on with this election and the willingness to completely invalidate a legitimate democratic election isn't really scary.

    But it does get worse.

So you agree that Native American Indians are the poorest US minority in terms of financial and educational standards?

I got the information from here and my posts said nothing about education.
