You apparently don't understand the process for removing an official from office. The House impeached, like what happened to Clinton. The Senate then decides whether to convict or not. Conviction generally means removal from office. He wasn't convicted. He was impeached.

If you look at the fact their own rank and file members of the Senate couldn't agree with the counts proposed by their House comrades, then you are 150% wrong. You said they weren't successful with impeachment. House Republicans were 100% successful, they can't control what the Senate does however. I don't see Trump even getting to that phase though.
