And you're right- the privilege cycle is very real. My first tech company made it very clear that if I hadn't gone to a top tier school I would not have been hired. (Note that the CEO is a college dropout).

And if I had not already had a tech job on my resume, my current company wouldn't have even looked at me. And I wouldn't have had a friend who could refer me.

    Etc. Etc.

    It's all very gross.
BS. You’re taking very specific experiences and applying them across the board while humble bragging about it.

If someone can’t get a job it’s usually because they aren’t qualified or don’t present themselves well or an unwillingness to move outside boundaries self imposed.

If you are a qualified candidate (good at your job), you’ll have no problem. People get hired all the time in tech companies with experiences different than your narrowed view of life.

    Get real.

Real Talk though, Necro pretends to be liberal on one account and conservative on another and makes up shit on both. He's not a former military CS major living in SF. Of course, neither is time4fun but that's a different subject.

Here's an idea... if you can't afford a real house.. maybe cut back on the charity hours every week and get a 2nd job? Those "impeccable extra-curriculars" aren't getting you extra money to buy a house with.. and to be honest, no employer hires you for how many hours you do charity work.

Charity begins at home.. and you can't afford one.

I mean.. if complaining about other people owning 5-6 houses isn't working.. perhaps it's time to maybe do something about your situation instead of just crying about it?

Have you thought about moving? Have you thought about looking for a more lucrative job?

If someone like me can’t afford to purchase a modest home in his own hometown then I don’t know what to tell you, not everyone can be a YouTube star or be an exec for Google. Also, you may not know how the industry works here but very few of those guys actually worked from bottom to top, a lot of that stuff is still old school connections and family ties even in a place as progressive as SanFran.
It is the fact that your "hometown" is so progressive that you can't afford to live there.

I would move.. then again I wouldn't be stupid enough to blame other people on my situation either..

    You are correct.

I am not a CS major living in SF.

Nothing about that sentence is accurate.

    Congratulations I guess?

... and yet you're a university professor, you've got multiple degrees relevant to whatever subject currently being discussed from "top tier" schools, you were born in poverty but now make more than all of us combined, you have an illegal alien brother, you've worked in the tech industry, you were on Capitol Hill during 9/11, etc. etc. It's a weird search for validation from people you profess to have a very low opinion of. I just don't get it.

You ought to write a book. It would be in the fiction section but I'd read it.

Yeah...your reaction to me having two degrees says a lot more about you than it does about me.

If you want real advice, assuming you have Military experience and so on, then you should be in the Reston, Alexandria, Norfolk Virginia area or in Maryland near DC. Lots of contract work in the region for real qualifications and who can talk to or deal with the military.
I asked for neither your Opinion,
    your Acceptance
    nor your Permission.

It's not a "two degrees" thing, but I see the angle you're trying to play here. It's your constant pattern of trying to one-up a topic.

That part is in your head, and it's a reaction you're just going to have to own.
