On the one hand, yes, I think a lot of the fears are extremely exaggerated and I don't think either Trump or Pence would be the end of the world even if they sought to be. But on the other hand, I'm a straight white male, and so are you. American History, both recent and distant, has a strong tendency toward being horrible to minorities. If I were a gay black man I'd probably be flipping my shit right now, and I'd be right to do so.

I disagree with the bolded part.

If I were a gay muslim I'd probably be freaking out even harder.

I would have started freaking out once I realized I was gay in a muslim family.
