    You probably mean "some"

But I don't think it is some. We have geologists, and we have meteorologists, who all have jobs. I'm not sure how many jobs exist in the world for climatologists that aren't involved in the global warming/climate change public policy realm. If you're a climatologist you're probably working on a grant written "to discern to what degree man is causing global climate change and what possible methods could be used to stop it." NASA might employ a few for other things, and the NASA equivalents overseas. Various private companies with weather predicting needs probably employ meteorologists more than a climatologist since typically it'll be something like needing to predict corn yields the next growing season, not anything long term measured in decades. In a way I'm reminded of chiropractors. They have one tool in their toolbox, so of course they see that as being able to fix every problem (Got a cold? crack your back. Need a vaccine? crack your back. Earache? Crack your back.).

That's my whole point. If you want to tell me 95% of climatologists are biased, show me some proof. If you only want to tell me 95% of climatologists might be biased, that is not going to sway me.

The chairman of the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Rajendra Pachauri, has pulled out of a four-day meeting of the body in Nairobi next week after being accused of sexually harassing a 29-year-old employee at the New Delhi research institute he heads.

The IPCC, the world’s leading authority on climate change, said in a statement on Saturday Mr Pachauri had informed the panel he had to cancel “because of issues demanding his attention in India”.

Mr Pachauri, an economist and industrial engineer by training, is director-general of The Energy and Resources Institute, Teri, an influential think-tank in New Delhi, and said he was fighting the allegations made against him.

My reason for posting this wasn't due to the charges against him.. but more that the guy who is the chairman of this Panel on Climate Change is not a meteorologist or climate scientist.. he's an economist.

Not really a shock, since that is what I've been saying all this time.. Global Warming is less about actual weather/predictions and far more about the $$$.

    Speaking of $$$

For years, politicians wanting to block legislation on climate change have bolstered their arguments by pointing to the work of a handful of scientists who claim that greenhouse gases pose little risk to humanity.

One of the names they invoke most often is Wei-Hock Soon, known as Willie, a scientist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics who claims that variations in the sun’s energy can largely explain recent global warming. He has often appeared on conservative news programs, testified before Congress and in state capitals, and starred at conferences of people who deny the risks of global warming.

But newly released documents show the extent to which Dr. Soon’s work has been tied to funding he received from corporate interests.

He has accepted more than $1.2 million in money from the fossil-fuel industry over the last decade while failing to disclose that conflict of interest in most of his scientific papers. At least 11 papers he has published since 2008 omitted such a disclosure, and in at least eight of those cases, he appears to have violated ethical guidelines of the journals that published his work.

This is how they explain it....

A Climatologist is anyone that studies the climate. A climate Scientist is someone with a scientific background that studies the climate.

Most Climatologists don't have a degree in climatology.

I also regard climatologists the same way I regard Meteorologists. A meteorologist will say.. "We expect this area to get 3-6 inches" The next day that area gets 1-2 inches or no snow at all and they say "Well, things shifted at the last minute and didn't do what we expected" Kinda sounds like Global Cooling... I mean Global Warming... I mean fuck it Climate Change.

Only Meteorologist I have ever listened to was this local guy that when they asked him what the weather was, would jokingly stick his head out the window, then tell you what was happening. Only THEN did he say about the future forecast and even then he would say this is only a guess.

To even imply that an environmental group is arguing for the realities of climate change for money from energy companies is borderline sillily.
