Methais is okay with food animals but not medical animals, and one of the reasons he gave was waste disposal. I asked what happens to the waste of food animals (that is, those portions that don't go to their purpose) explicitly saying that I didn't know the answer. You gave the answer, I asked if addressing one of Methais' concerns would satisfy him. Where's the disingenuity? The conversations you must have, sheesh.

There is a distinction between milk cows and food cows. Why is it so ridiculous to suppose there are leather cows too, especially given the horrendous living conditions in food farms?

I've heard people talk about doing research on prisoners all the time. I wonder how much support that would actually have if put to a popular vote.

It would have no chance. We've got people getting offended at hearing, "Merry Christmas" and kids being suspended for pop-tart 'guns'.

Having a domesticated animal breathe in hair spray fumes until their lungs burn up and they die a miserable death so that women (or men named Darrel) can do up their hair with Soul Glo is hardly comparable to raising a cow for food.

It's funny you bring that up: remember Super Mario Brothers 2? And how weird it was? It turns out that the real Super Mario Brothers 2 was deemed too hard for American gamers, so they pasted Mario faces on some weird vegetable game and gave us that instead. "Kids these days!" but we were those kids.

There was a good podcast I listened to that describe the devolution of gaming.

Games were hard when we paid to to play them in arcades. The difficulty held over to 8-bit systems, but has gradually receded over time as hard games became unpopular.

At the end of the day, we're a capitalist economy and people vote for games with their money. Devs could make harder games, but less people will play them if there are easier games available. Most people play games to get the mental satisfaction of accomplishment (lol), so if we make it harder to be "accomplished" people won't play.

Indie games are typically harder. AAA games need to appeal to as many people as possible, and you can't really rope casual gamers in with crushing difficulty.
