You want to control for variables, so you don't want to just grab dogs from the pound and do research on them. The question then becomes, why is it ok to raise animals only to kill them for their body parts, but not for research? Is it simply the species? Would it be alright if they did this to cows? Is it an issue of the animal suffering? Would it be alright if they did this work while the animals were anesthetized?

I'm not 100% on board with animal research, and I do it for a living. That being said, I eat meat, and I certainly don't do much research into where my meat comes from. I am 100% willing to bet that most of the animals I eat have a far worse life than the research animals do.
I'm fairly certain Methais is not a vegetarian/vegan.

I don't think it would get a lot of support. People may be stupid but I don't think society as a whole (in the U.S.) is barbaric. Let's leave that inhumane stuff in the past with the Nazis and Japanese of WW2.

I think a lot of it comes down to is the reasoning for the testing/killing. If it's being killed for a cause that people believe in, they're fine with it, or at the least will pretend it's not happening. If it's for testing some sort of vanity product like shampoo or makeup, people will at least pretend to be outraged for a minute or two.

Living conditions aside for cattle and other stuff that's raised for food (which I think their living conditions probably suck fat greasy ass and need to be improved), I don't exactly know much at all about the process, but I'm fairly certain that their deaths are pretty quick with minimal suffering overall. Plus killing an animal for food in general tends to be more ethical than just throwing something's corpse in the garbage after it suffocates or has a stroke or whatever from whatever is being experimented with on them.

Having a domesticated animal breathe in hair spray fumes until their lungs burn up and they die a miserable death so that women (or men named Darrel) can do up their hair with Soul Glo is hardly comparable to raising a cow for food.

Of course it's comparable. Death is death. People have the same options of not eating animals as they do for not using animal tested products.

I entirely disagree. I'd much rather go peacefully in my sleep, or even a painful ten minute heart attack, rather than suffering for years with emphysema, cancer treatments, or any number of painful ailments.

If your mother were sentenced to death, would you be indifferent to whether or not her execution was carried out by skinning her alive vs. lethal injection or a bullet to the head? I mean the end result is the same, so what's the difference right? Death is death.

I'd rather have cancer than a heart attack. At least then I could smoke weed and heal myself.
