...but we're not in a recession. Our growth over the last four quarters (2.50%) is actually slightly higher than the FDR-present average (2.45%). Unemployment is at 6.1% which is only slightly higher than the post-war average of 5.8%. Inflation has been under 2.5% for a year and a half, and under the postwar average of 3.6% for two years.

Growth okay + unemployment okay + inflation good = no recession, surely?
